While style.css is unavailable, the council has decided to unban Chien-Pao in Nyational Dex Meownotype!​
Why Unban Chien-Pao?
With DLC2 bringing in more checks in the form of Archaludon, wider Vacuum Wave distribution, and the introduction of Upper Hand, Chien-Pao is less of a threat than it ever was. Furthermore, Chien-Pao sits in an awkward speedtier, with Zeraora, Mega Aerodactyl, Barraskewda, and Mega Alakazam outpacing it and risking a speedtie with Mega Lopunny, making things not as great for our small cat. Although it has strong priority moves in Sucker Punch and Ice Shard, the presence of Tapu Lele keeps the cat in check. It also is not able to bring all the coverage it wants, with cats without Sacred Sword being hopelessly walled by Bisharp and Porygon-2, no Psychic Fangs means Iron Hands and Toxapex sits on it, no Crunch means Gholdengo and Skeledirge takes advantage of Chien-Pao instead, and no priority means all Choice Scarf users would revenge-kill it quickly.

Chien-Pao is also weak to Stealth Rock, meaning using a Choice Band or a Z-crystal further cuts into its bulk, making it easier to deal with on the long run. Fast Ice moves also aren't new to ND Meownotype, with Mega Gallade, Mega Lopunny, and Weavile often packing Triple Axel to pressure types such as Flying, Dragon, and Ground without mercy.

Furthermore, there has been clamor to improve types such as Dark and Ice, which are not as good after the bans of Kingambit and Hoopa-U and Baxcalibur.

The list above comprises of Pokemon typically used in their respective types, which means that Chien-Pao will not introduce more builder strain. This further cements the fact that Chien-Pao is healthy in the ND Meownotype metagame

Where's the Suspect Test? Why was it just unbanned?
As Chien-Pao's statline and movepool is understandably fear-inducing and ridiculous, a suspect test will fail as the community would feel Chien-Pao is too much without actually trying it first. We will hold a suspect test in a few weeks so that the community will form a more balanced opinion on this cool-looking cat.

What's the "and more" part?
:staravia: has been banned in the Nyational Dex Meownotype metagame due to its insane bulk when coupled with Eviolite. For instance, it is able to turn the tables on the aforementioned Chien-Pao, surviving an Icicle Crash and OHKOing back with Revenge. It is also able to support Normal teams by enabling scary attackers like Ursaluna and Terapagos with its access to Tailwind and Defog. This tiering action will be revisited on another time, once there are more offensive threats that can overwhelm Staravia.

So, feel free to use this thread to discuss this decision. This thread is not for tiering philosophy discussion. This thread will also not be used to hate cats (only cat gifs are allowed if you want to post one).
