Anime Soundtracks

Ok, there HAS to be people that enjoy listening to anime soundtracks. Its a pretty good style of animation, and there are a lot of different styles of music to go along with it. I personally haven't been watching that much anime lately, though I must say I am a gigantic Code Geass fan, having watched through the entire thing in about a week (I'm sure user: PKGaming can agree with me on this one).

Basically, post good anime soundtracks.

I'll start with some from CG:

Madder Sky

Crooked Diaries
Lack of Power for Wisdom
Invisible Sound
Opening 1 for Code Geass r2

Yeah. Discuss.

only anime soundtrack i ever downloaded was cardcaptor sakura's and that was because i was blazed at said time (the opening is cute stfu)

I used to have a couple of anime soundtracks floating around on my HDD, but I never actually watched anime, I just liked some of the music. Some of my favourites included Escaflowne, Umineko and Gundam.. but after a while I just stopped listening to the stuff. Don't get me wrong, the music is really great, but most of anime music is composed of japanese lyrics - listening to stuff you don't understand for every single song kinda made me not enjoy it after a while :(

I still love non-lyrical anime music though, here are some of my favourites from Umineko:

Mortal Stampede: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4j4hw9sJ-Y
miragecoordinator (god I love this): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqZfXUg4kaM
Worldend Dominator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR6PYrjEzcQ

Cowboy Bebop is NOT just good for Tank, the whole soundtrack is excellent. No two songs are alike; it's a trip through genre's you may not have known even existed. There have been many times when I've been playing it and people have asked what it is to download it. Yoko Kanno is amazing. I cannot recommend this highly enough

FLCL has a pretty cool soundtrack too. The Pillows just sound so raw.

I like the soundtrack to Ergo Proxy too. It is very atmospheric; put it on in the background while I'm doing work

I enjoy instrumental soundtracks in general, so I listen to FMA in the background sometimes.

No one mentions Magical Pokaan (magipoka)?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW5PNo6Mmoc&feature=related (House Theme <3)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7S4JSbneSQ (My second favorite track)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Tuzf8mSj1s&feature=related (Lucky Star)

obligatory air gear
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRYrlxWzf4c&feature=related (<3 simca)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_er6WPeOWI&feature=related

mainstream is the only stream amirite :P GL / air gear balances out my favoritism for girly animes (it's something about how they all relate like best motherfucking friends that makes me like animes featuring a (mostly) girl cast idk) :$

Seconding Bebop's soundtrack. Yoko Kanno's music is always praised.

After that, Joe Hisaishi's music that he makes for the Studio Ghibli films are just phenomenal. They fit the movie extremely well so when listening you can't help but thinking of the movie itself.

Mai Hime, average anime with GOD TIER soundtrack. Kara no Kyoukai has the same composer but the tracks are a bit more repetitive. Still damn good though.

I like alot of anime soundtracks, but there are two anime that I think of when I think sheer excellence vastly superior to all others.

One is Cowboy Bebop.

The other equally impressive anime is G Gundam. With more than twice as many orchestral tracks as there are episodes (yeah, there are 5 soundtrack cds for this anime), and the same budget and artwork that went into the show's visuals, there are far too many brilliant tracks for me to list. All too often I would think "Holy fuck, this is a good song, I want to hear it again later" only for it to show up only once or twice in the show. Oh yeah, and, leitmotifs.

Burning Finger
Awesome fight song that is heard maybe twice
MY LOVE MY ANGER AND ALL OF MY SORROW
The slow songs are fucking awesome too
Another slow song with a healthy dose of LEITMOTIF
Let's Fighting Love

I found most of the Gundam series have at least "solid" soundtracks. I've always liked Gundam Wing's, but that might just be a nostalgia factor. G Gundam's was very good, though.

I didn't mention DragonBall's Japanese sound track but some of it is really, really good. My favorite fight had this but other tracks weren't any less spectacular.

And as for ending and opening themes, I'll have to point out Bakuman's second ending. Fits the show well, but also sounds really pleasant.

The ORIGINAL pokemon theme song is actually a really good piece of music. It has a couple techno elements but is really good as a rock song if you really listen to it (by that I mean you dont hear it and say lolpokemon).
