[OVERVIEW]
Mamoswine is a distinguished threat in RU thanks to its fantastic offensive STAB combination pressuring defensive staples like Hippowdon, Rhyperior, Galarian Weezing, and Chesnaught. Its access to Ice Shard lets it easily pick off the many fast Ice-weak threats of the tier, including Cyclizar, Noivern, and Galarian Zapdos. The utility from Knock Off and Stealth Rock means Mamoswine is able to make efficient progress against checks to it like Slowbro and Suicune. However, Mamoswine's typing can be a liability defensively, as its many weaknesses leave it vulnerable to foes like Jirachi, Slither Wing, and Basculegion-F. In addition, Mamoswine's solid HP is let down by its middling defensive stats, meaning it struggles to even stomach repeated neutral hits from attackers like Gardevoir, Krookodile, and Gengar. Although Ice Shard can compensate for Mamoswine's Speed, it's still outsped and threatened by foes like Barraskewda, Choice Scarf Gardevoir, and Mienshao. Mamoswine might be a great wallbreaker, but it still struggles to break one of the best walls in the tier, Slowbro, and it's also vulnerable to other Water-types like Feraligatr and Gyarados.

Ice Shard threatens faster Ice-weak Pokemon like Galarian Zapdos, Cyclizar, and Salamence, outright OHKOing Noivern and Flygon. It's similarly useful for picking off frail threats like Maushold and Hisuian Zoroark and weakened out-of-control setup sweepers like Gyarados and Terrakion. Knock Off punishes switch-ins like Slowbro, Vaporeon, and Umbreon, softening them up and making them vulnerable to entry hazards and chip damage. Heavy-Duty Boots is standard to give Mamoswine more opportunities to switch in repeatedly. Never-Melt Ice lets Mamoswine 2HKO Hippowdon with Icicle Crash and gives it a chance to KO Slither Wing with Icicle Crash after it switches into Earthquake. Tera Fire grants a key burn immunity to Mamoswine so it can break down Galarian Weezing and Talonflame without fear, and it lets Mamoswine tank Iron Head from Jirachi and First Impression from Slither Wing in a pinch. Tera Ice powers up Mamoswine's Ice-type moves to let it pull off feats like OHKOing Cyclizar with Ice Shard after Stealth Rock damage and 2HKOing Galarian Weezing after Stealth Rock damage when it's equipped with the Never-Melt Ice.

Mamoswine fits on balance and offensive teams as a threat that flexibly acts as a wallbreaker and revenge killer. Other physical attackers, including Galarian Zapdos and Mimikyu, can work together with Mamoswine to wear down common walls like Chesnaught, Hippowdon, and Slowbro. Offensive pivots like Jirachi and Galarian Zapdos can bring Mamoswine in safely with their pivoting moves, and those two in particular can draw in foes such as Hippowdon for Mamoswine to pressure. Slowbro and Galarian Weezing may intercept Fighting-type attacks from threats like Galarian Zapdos and Terrakion to relieve Mamoswine of its vulnerability to them. Water-types like Volcanion and Empoleon can check opposing Water-types that would pressure Mamoswine like Basculegion-F and Barraskewda, while physically defensive Grass-types like Wo-Chien and Chesnaught can handle more physically offensive Water-types like Feraligatr and Barraskewda for Mamoswine. Fast cleaners such as Gengar, Maushold, and Basculegion-F have an easier time becoming late-game threats thanks to the holes that Mamoswine creates as a wallbreaker, and they can compensate for its lower Speed. Entry hazard removal from teammates like Cyclizar and Galarian Weezing lets Mamoswine more comfortably run Never-Melt Ice instead of Heavy-Duty Boots. Spikes support from setters like Chesnaught can help Mamoswine overwhelm checks like Slowbro.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
====

Mamoswine can use Life Orb to wallbreak more effectively, but doing so risks exhausting it between entry hazard damage and recoil damage. An Adamant nature grants Mamoswine more power to break through walls like Hippowdon and Rhyperior more easily, but underspeeding Armarouge and opposing Mamoswine can put it in jeopardy. Trailblaze may seem tempting by letting Mamoswine function as a setup sweeper and hitting Water-types decently hard, but Ice Shard is already especially effective as an anti-offensive tool, and Mamoswine struggles to fit Trailblaze over any of its moves. A set with Focus Sash, Stealth Rock, and Endeavor can be used as a lead on hyper offense teams, though Mamoswine tends to be outclassed in this role by Terrakion and Kleavor.

Checks and Counters
====

**Water-types**: Slowbro soundly walls Mamoswine thanks to Slack Off and Regenerator, threatens it with Scald, and can even use it as setup fodder with Calm Mind. Vaporeon can heal off damage from Mamoswine with Wish. Suicune prefers not to take repeated hits from Earthquake, but it outspeeds and threatens to 2HKO Mamoswine. More offensive Water-types like Gyarados, Basculegion-F, and Barraskewda outspeed and threaten Mamoswine, though they don't switch into its attacks comfortably. Even Ground-weak Water-types like Volcanion and Empoleon deter Mamoswine from switching in with their STAB Water-type moves.

**Physical Walls**: Levitate Galarian Weezing, Cresselia, and Gastrodon are a pain for Mamoswine to break through on its own, especially if Mamoswine cannot Terastallize. Walls that would otherwise be easier for Mamoswine to break past such as Wo-Chien, Hippowdon, and Amoonguss can become major obstacles if they Terastallize and shed their weaknesses to its STAB moves.

**Faster Pokemon and Priority**: Jolly Slither Wing sets, Jirachi, and Terrakion all outspeed and threaten Mamoswine with their super effective STAB moves, though the latter two should be wary of Mamoswine's Earthquake. First Impression Slither Wing and Sucker Punch Bisharp also challenge Mamoswine.

**Residual Damage**: If Mamoswine opts to not run Heavy-Duty Boots, it's prone to being worn down by entry hazards into the ranges of being taken out by revenge killers like Hisuian Zoroark, Gengar, and Entei. These Pokemon, as well as Galarian Weezing and Talonflame, can also threaten to burn Mamoswine.

However, Mamoswine's typing can be a liability defensively, as its many weaknesses leave it vulnerable to foes like Jirachi, Slither Wing, and Basculegion-F. Mamoswine's flexibility to switch its moves makes Pokemon that can tank one of its STAB moves, including Volcanion, Jirachi, and Oricorio-E, unable to take advantage of it effectively. This intro is mostly fluff, especially since Jirachi outspeeds and Oricorio-E wouldn't risk Ice Shard Ice Shard threatens faster Ice-weak Pokemon like Galarian Zapdos, Cyclizar, and Salamence, outright OHKOing Noivern and Flygon. Heavy-Duty Boots is standard to make Mamoswine less dependent on hazard control to switch in repeatedly. Never-Melt Ice lets Mamoswine 2HKO Hippowdon with Icicle Crash, and gives it a better chance to KO Slither Wing with Icicle Crash after it switches into Earthquake. Tera Fire grants a key burn immunity to Mamoswine so it can break down Galarian Weezing and Talonflame without fear, and it lets Mamoswine tank Iron Head from Jirachi and First Impression from Slither Wing in a pinch. I'd like to see more emphasis on Mamoswine as a wallbreaker that pairs well with other physical attackers, like Galarian Zapdos and Mimikyu, to wear down common walls like Chesnaught, Hippowdon, and Slowbro. Also mention hazard removal for NVM sets
