Aegislash

I don't understand how Aegislash needs all 3 moves to beat the 'big 4' of ubers since Iron Head+Shadow Sneak is enough. SD Aegislash is supposed to be a cleaner, not a dedicated check. So SD Aegi doesn't have to beat everything. Also, there is a SpDef King's Shield+3 attacks set which is made specifically for countering Xerneas and Mewtwo.

Regarding Gyro Ball,it's an option on the SpDef set but not usable on the SD set since Iron Head is superior in every situation except against a +2 Xerneas and even if it can live an Iron Head,it gets finished off by a priority Shadow Sneak.
Unless you're running an offensive item on aegis (which you should) aegis has next to no chance of beating a full life xerneas with iron head + shadow sneak. Yveltal loves coming in on +2 aegis since it ohko's with foul play in shield form. Aegis is one of the big 4 because it beats all the others with the exception of some yveltal and considering how every team should have the big 4, having a mon that can beat them is definitely a must.

Gyro ball only hits +2 spd xern which has its uses admittedly.

252+ Atk (custom) Iron Head vs. 4 HP / 0 Def (custom): 324-384 (82.23 - 97.46%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
So Aegi can definitely beat Xern with Iron+Sneak lol

Why is Yveltal even relevant in here since it's a counter and can pretty much beat Aegi whether you run SD or not. Also, there IS a SpDef set made specifically for countering threats. SD Aegi has a different purpose, not countering those. So if you want to run an Aegi set to beat the big ubers, just run that set instead of trying to change the SD one.

Yes thats why it's the first slash on the SpDef set but has no place on SD.Like I said,Iron+Sneak already makes short work of Xern.

Xern is running 200 def Evs in which case aegis will need two max damage rolls to ko with head + sneak. Don't know why people on ladder use that terrible 252spa/252+spe spread for geomancy

Aegis' job is to specifically counter those threats since it's the only mon that does so. Though yveltal gives it hell if it isn't status'd so eh.

+2 252+ SpA (custom) Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD (custom): 180-214 (55.55 - 66.04%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Not like aegis is doing that well against xern anyways

Since this meta is ~mostly~ non-Pokebank OU, I think some of its other sets could work pretty well for the time being. Mixed attacker, Choice Band, dedicated Pursuit trapper, etc could definitely use a mention. Choice Band in particular can really dent Yveltal switch ins (or if you're insane, OHKO it with Head Smash).

That sounds hilarious

I can see CB as useful for xern/yveltal. Though it pretty much gets forced out immediately afterwards which is less than ideal.

Pursuit trapper sounds underwhelming since Mmx still takes a hit relatively well. MM/Y might be forced to switch if they lack fire blast/shadow ball so it has it's uses there. Aegis vs aegis is a coin flip anyhow so that's mostly irrelevant as far as pursuit trapping is concerned.

Mixed with iron head/hp fire/shadow sneak or ball could work by checking shit like blaze, Luca among some other things.

Other than some fun kills on the switch once in a while, CB and Mixed doesn't have much usefulness. Pursuit trapper does have a little utility of trapping Mewtwo as it switches out but rather than a dedicated Pursuit trapper set,it's better used like a random Pursuit thrown on the spdef set.
