Welcome to ADVPL V. This thread is for the signups for those who wish to manage in the tour. Information about the tournament can be found at the Announcements Thread here. Hosts for this edition of ADVPL are goldmason, Lialiabeast and grape tylenol.

When signing up, YOU MUST SIGN WITH AN ASSISTANT MANAGER and state who they are. Managers will be able to purchase themselves for 15k credits for one or 40k for both prior to the draft if they wish to do so.

Managers will be chosen based on experience in ADV tournaments, their level of involvement in the community and knowledge of the playerbase, their general competence, and prowess in managing in other high level tournaments in other tiers. If you do sign up, it would be worth explaining why you and your assistant manager would be good picks with relation to the above criteria.

This years edition will feature 8 teams with 10 slots:

ADV OU

Prospective managers and players are encouraged to join the Smogon ADV community Discord if there are any questions or concerns.

Retains will be allowed in this edition as the format has not been expanded.
Each team will be allowed to retain at most 3 players from their retain pool and self-purchasing managers (so if you choose to self purchase 1 manager you only get 2 retains etc.). Teams must notify the host team of any retains prior to the player auction.

The cost to retain a player on their first year as a retention will be max(10k, previous price + 3k). Examples:
  • If UD was bought for 13k last year, it would cost 16k to retain him
  • If UD was bought for 8k last year, it would cost 11k to retain him, not 10k
  • If UD was bought for 5k last year, it would cost 10k to retain him, not 8k
(For future editions, doesn't apply to this one since there was no retain last year) The cost to retain a player that was already retained in the last ADVPL will be dependent on how many times they have been retained. The fee being raised by +3k with each subsequent retention.
Example: If UD was retained for 16k last ADVPL , it would cost 22k to retain him in this one, and 31k to retain him in the next one.

Players that are retained will be locked into the same tiers that they were locked in the year prior.

Signups will be up until Sunday, March 10th. Player signups will go up immediately afterwards.

After last years crushing defeat in finals me and lhions want one more chance to take what's rightfully ours. This year we've managed retrocup together alongside everything that was mentioned last year. We think we have what it takes to take a team to the finals again but this year with a different ending.

8 seasons of managing and 3 finals appearances in mushi league between us combined. I recently made top 4 in adv revival 2 and FJ has finished 2nd in a revival circuit tournament.
Managed for PPL and was a player last year in advpl.

Team Name: We Take Lords Again
Elian is an experienced manager having managed multiple ADV tournaments, including the last ADVPL. I had the best ADV LC record in the previous ADVPL and have managed multiple tiers on this site and going 7/8 in making playoffs, winning OUFL, LPL, and currently in the finals tiebreakerof of a CA Tour as a manager.

I have managed my fair share of tours, having won BDSPPL and gotten playoffs in the last PTPL (also currently managing UUPL). I am in touch with the ADV community, having played in the last ADVPL, gotten top cut in ADV Revival 2, and having played ADV PU in the last editions of PUPL and PUBD.

violet river had a great season on the top seed Spartoi Elites last year, going 6-2 in the BO3. She has since played ADV in tours year round, notably featuring Coup Critique, ADPL, RoaPL and SPL. She has also played in the LCBC and LPL (being in and around ADV LC), NUCL playing ADV NU, UPL playing and supporting ADV Ubers. She also managed the last edition of ALTPL, which features adv lower tiers.

I have managed quite a lot of tours such as SMPL Solomods PL NDWC OGPL etc and have been an active member who participated in most of the OU tours. Other than these, I have managed several discord tournaments such as ISTT BTWC etc. I have also qualified and made it till top 8 of OU circuit and won OU last chance qualifiers this year and have played many team tours such as HPL, SMPL, NDWC, and numerous tournaments inside and outside of the tier.
Whereas my Co-manager, Odin has an impressive track record in the competitive ADV OU scene, particularly in ADV OU. He has won an ADV circuit, reached the finals of ADV circuits before — showcasing his individual prowess — and reached the finals of Classic ADV. Beyond individual success, he has also claimed victory in ADVPL and has been a consistent presence throughout almost all seasons of ADVPL. He has actively competed in ADV-focused tours and participated in major official tournaments such as SPL. Notably, he capped off his achievements by winning SPL in the previous year, solidifying his reputation as a formidable ADV OU player.
We are committed and dedicated managers, and we promise to work hard to create a positive, healthy, and encouraging environment where our team can grow and succeed. Looking forward to managing this ADVPL season and claiming the title.
