I decided to try to make a team based around Cloyster. Cloyster I believe is an underrated pokemon and with the banning of Aegislash is quite capable of holding his own. This entire team is ripped wholesale from the site. The tools are there, why not use them. I also have to mention that this is my first RMT, so I'm not going to make anything ground-breaking. But I will take the criticism to heart. Because if I didn't, what the point of making an RMT? With that out of the way here's the team.
Cloyster @ Focus Sash
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Shell Smash
- Ice Shard
The star of the show. I debated whether or not a White Herb would be better than a Focus Sash, but since many pokes are quite capable of OHKO-ing Cloyster I went with Focus Sash. It's a pretty standard set, Icicle Spear and Rock Blast for stab and coverage respectably. I went with Ice Shard for priority for that extra edge.
Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- U-turn
Ripped shamelessly from the site. It's been serving me quite well in my test runs of this team. Same weaknesses as the rest of the team, being that a defensive core of Gliscor, Rotom W, and Heatran can ruin my day. Still his priority Brave Bird and Roost allow him to knock a dent into the enemy team before he most likely croaks.
Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
My needed mega. I went for a bulkier set because I think Mega Scizor is in need for special defence rather than a simple set up and sweep. Personally I'm thinking of changin this set because facing Rotom-W and cornered it's gg. But I have a way around it. Bullet Punch is in there as my main move with Knock Off serving as both a coverage move for me and to cripple other pokemon who are heavily reliant on their items to be effective.
Kyurem-Black @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 252 Atk / 32 SpA / 224 Spe
Naive Nature
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
Behold Kyurm-B. A monster that'll allow me to rip through walls and other threats that could keep either or my sweepers from setting up such as the aforementioned Rotom-W and Heatran. The dragon typing really helps out with my coverage problems so fighting types don't simply punch a hole through my team. I previously tried out using Landorus for some strange reason but he also had the problem of being walled by Rotom-W, so he got quickly replaced as soon as he didn't pull his weight. Outrage and Dragon Claw is for Coverage and the damage output is enough to help Mega Scizor against walls such as Sylveon. Bolt Beam is mainly general coverage and overall this frosty giant is going to be tremendously useful against Excadrill and Fighting Types which my team has trouble getting around sometimes.
Smeargle @ Focus Sash
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 96 HP / 120 Def / 40 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sticky Web
- Stealth Rock
- Spore
- Taunt
My lead. All I have to do is spore to a stealth rock and sticky web for a good advantage. My problems is that this guy is huge taunt bait. Meaning that if I don't get him off the ground, I pretty much just wasted an item slot. I'm considering changing him out for anyone with prankster. but if it comes down to it I'll probably keep him around simply for setting the tempo of the game.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory
- Grass Knot
Normally I just use Greninja in the games as a revenge killer to ensure kills against any poke who can wall/counter other pokemon in this list. A solid poke by all standards I had my (very) few (recent) games he managed to sweep without me even needing to change pokes. Extrasensory is there to check fighting types which would have a field day with my team. Grass Knot is for bulky water types and to stop Azumarill from setting up against my team. With Talonflame's Brave Bird and Greninja's Extrasensoy I'll be able to keep a thread such as Mega-Venasaur from pulling the rug from under me.
Thank you for reading this. And sorry for the amateur work. I've been out of the game a long time so I'm a bit rusty.
