A BIG Glitch in my Pokemon Gold

Hello guys, pretty please I need your help, but you're gonna have to go back in time, I hope you still remember: In Pokemon Gold that I'm playing on Gameboy color, I am in the Ice Path (the ice cave leading towards the final gym). On the second level of the cave I am supposed to use HM STRENGTH to push bulders in holes to be able to proceed (picture below showing where I am stuck). Problem is there are no boulders in my game!!! Just like this picture! I want to know please is this a glitch or is there something wrong with my cartridge?! Please help, thank you.

In other words: THERE ARE NO BOULDERS IN THE CAVE! :(

Try going down the ladder in the top right. Have the boulders already been dropped onto the ice on that floor?
I tried everything. There are no boulders. I guess my game is damaged, but it's really weird cause I've went to other caves in other cities of the game and the boulders there are in place, except the ice cave. Must be a glitch I'm just wishing for some Pokemon wizard to confirm this cause I'm going crazy.

Do you think you could take a picture of how it looks in your game? I'm struggling to think of how this could happen, even as a glitch... I think anything to give a better idea of your situation would help. If your concern is that you're missing something, it would probably help to have another set of eyes!

I'll try to upload a pic of the actual game. But it's exactly like the pic I uploaded of the cave. What's crazy about this glitch is that I can even walk on and past the tiles that should originally contain the movable boulders. It's like they're not even there at all. I tried everything, going out and back in, going through all the ladders, they're just not appearing. Sad cause I have a nice team Of level 50+ Typhlosion, Ampharos, Gengar and Golem lol :(

Definitely a glitch. Your cart might be legit damaged.

You can save your mons by transferring them to Stadium 2 if you have the hardware for it. That's about all you can do tbh.

If you were playing on an emulator, I'd tell you to just use a Walk Through Walls cheat, but since you aren't... oof. Ya really hate to see it.

It's possible those were traded from Gen 1, thus meaning that they would be unable to trade gen 2 pokemon*. Though I guess you could wait until you have a replacement gen 2 cartridge. There is also the possibility of glitching your way into Blackthorn. I know a speedrun uses the Coin Case to warp to Mt. Silver, so you could theoretically change the destination address and remove the part about having 0 pokemon in your party. Getting another file might be more reasonable than literally rewriting the game to skip Ice Path, however.

*there's a glitch that gets around this, but I don't know how effective it is at preserving information (gen 2 mons get very glitchy in gen 1)

Yeah best thing is to get a new cartridge. I already started looking for one.
