7* Tera Dark Feraligatr (November 1-3 and 8-10)

Is the support screamtail build just the SV one on Smogon? If so I will go try that out. Something new to try!
I used this set up that flamewizzy used for Infernape
Scream Tail @ Light Clay
252/0-/152+/0/100/0
Reflect
Light Screen
Rain
Helping Hand

I swapped into an Impish Nature for this one.

Though I tried to be cute and swap out the things I didn't need for this (Light Screen & rain aren't doing much) but beyond a use of wish I didn't do much other than reflect -> helping hand -> reflect later on.

So I ran sunny day instead of rain dance and basically just spammed reflect and helping hand. Just caught it now. Many thanks!

Unaware Clefable seems like a pretty safe support option. I just pulled one from my boxes, started with a defense boost (defense curl or cosmic power) and then supported the Belly Drum users with Life Dew. Pretty easy clear with Azumarill doing the heavy lifting.

For full support you could toss in Chilling Water and Reflect. I was able to do a little damage with Moonblast, but if I were building something for this raid full support probably makes more sense.

Iron Hands really doesn't care about 105 base attack, especially with Iron Defence.

+6 0+ Atk Sheer Force Tera Dark Feraligatr Liquidation vs. +2 4 HP / 252 Def Iron Hands: 204-241 (45.3 - 53.5%) -- 38.7% chance to 2HKO
+6 0+ Atk Tera Dark Feraligatr Psychic Fangs vs. +2 4 HP / 252 Def Iron Hands: 210-248 (46.6 - 55.1%) -- 68.4% chance to 2HKO

Just beat Gatr blind, but the move order looks pretty straightforward for future solo farming:

NPC: Intimidate support
Turn 1: Focus Energy (Razor Claw)
Turn 2-4: Drain Punch 3x after Tera drain
Turn 5: Tera Fighting & Iron Defence after stat reset

Then just Swords Dance (or Belly Drum) and win.

So far I managed to beat this with Komm-o, Koraidon, Magearna, Malamar, and Silther Wing with great sucess. My fastest victory was with Koraidon due to using meterome to increase Drain Punch strength. One idea I saw online was using Fury Cutter H-rott and after trying it out, I was impressed by the fact it work quite well for a gimmick. Now you need some Intimidate support, but most pokemon benefit from the intimidators within this raid.

H-Samurott @ Shell Bell
Ability: Sharpness
Tera Type: Bug / Stellar
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def or 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant / Impish Nature
- Fury Cutter
- Chilling Water
- Focus Energy
- Sword Dance

I did my solo clear with Azumarill! I’ve got that uploaded to YouTube, so between that and doipy hooves’s writeup, the bunny content is covered and I won’t go into it further here. I’ve been doing a lot of pubs though because this raid is pretty simple, and my go-to has been Cloyster:

:sv/cloyster:
Cloyster @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Spe / whatever requires you to use the fewest items lol
Lax / Bold Nature
- Chilling Water
- Life Dew
- Iron Defense
- Liquidation / Helping Hand / Leer

This set is pretty simple; Cloyster has such high Defense that you don’t even need to actually invest in Defense. 68 Speed EVs will outrun Feraligatr by a point so you don’t have to take a +2 Crunch. Iron Defense is nice to have for peace of mind when Feraligatr cleanses your Chilling Water drops.

Between this and Azumarill, I think I’ve only had one failed public lobby so far; it’s not too hard to set up basically any Pokémon for success with the right supports. Ability cleansing doesn’t feel necessary at all. In fact, I’d actually recommend against it so you don’t leave allies vulnerable to Defense drops or freeze. Psychic Fangs making Reflect unusable is a little bit of a bummer, but with a litany of Chilling Water, Breaking Swipe, Charm, and Feather Dance users available, as well as maybe Coaching, it hasn’t been a huge issue yet.

falinks.gif.m.1718075871

Falinks @ Shell Bell
Ability: Battle Armor
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 228 HP / 252 Def / 28 Spe
Impish Nature
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Focus Energy / Trailblaze
- Lunge / Trailblaze

Another fun option to use against gater. 28 speed to out speed Feraligater by once point and with Battle Armor + Iron Defense you're not dying any time soon. Trailblaze is there so you can still out speed the mon after it dragon dance, but by the time Gater uses DD I don't need to out speed him since he can't kill me.

Oh my gosh, the most unbelievable thing happened. At one point I was having my Hisuian Samurott go for consecutive Fury Cutters and decided to hold off on Terastallizing until the 3rd one so I would be resistant to Liquidation and hope to deal big enough damage from the 3rd one to heal back to full from Shell Bell. I Tera, use the 3rd Fury Cutter, and it took out almost all of Feraligatr's health when he just had a little over half left, and that was with the shield up. I know it was a +6 Atk -1 (or more, I had an Arcanine cpu with Leer) STAB Sharpness crit boosted 160 base power move, but that was just ridiculous.

I wonder why the Tera orb stealing early exists. Seems kind of pointless when it happens so early in the fight to really make any difference.

This time I had a terrible luck with online partners, until a last battle where no one died yet we still took a while to defeat it. It just can't really do a lot because of its typing, even with Dragon Dance.

Only one starter left now-I seriously hope there is still something else afterwards. It's always fun to still play Scarlet when these raids come around, I'm not ready to leave the game yet.

I’m not so sure that the support for scarlet/violet will end after that last starter raid tbh. I could see another round of random legendary 7 star raids just to hammer out the next year or so until Gen 10 drops.

ZA is obviously not going to plug the VGC gap so we have a lot more time with SV in my view.

Shouting out NR7/Nrom7 from discord for a successful if not tight Azurill clear with a very locked in NPC team among other crazy things.

Depending which rumours you believe lately with the Switch 2 and the leak stuff, I could see SV support going on for a while longer, maybe more spread out like SWSH's last year of wild area events. Personally I would expect some cycling of the old 7-star raids in at some point if nothing else, which I would appreciate to settle the score with Azumarill, but they can still come up with filler outbreaks and stuff too.

I can confirm again Scream Tail works. I was late to the party after travelling.

I refined my Scream Tai set for Feraligatr to:
Scream Tail @ SitrusBerry
252/0-/252+/0/0/4
Reflect
Noble Roar
Helping Hand
Sunny Day/Howl/Fake Tears

Light clay was dropped because psychic fangs breaks screens early. I still run with 152+ Def EVs (same scream tail), and it doesn’t really matter. Noble Roar is very useful to get rid of the Gatr’s SD boosts, since it is a fixed single SD. You can usually get at least one noble roar out before shields go up.

Sun is a bit more niche, but does a few things. Sun activates your own protosynthesis, it aids teammates where liquidation is the strongest move against them (eg the rare Sylveon), and it aids allied Koraidon via Orichalcum pulse after the sun runs out. Sun is not needed for every raid. You can alternatively run Howl or Fake Tears to support different attackers. Fake tears for the rare special attacker (I’ve seen Primarina and Sylveon), or Howl for Koraidon/Annihilape/etc. That move slot is kind of free.

Reflect T1 provides a lot of cover for your team, as people tend to take a lot of damage trying to handle +2 Gatr. Even if psychic fangs comes out after, Reflect into Noble Roar tends to help the team out more in the long term.

Scream Tail should never need Wish in raids. I didn’t even have full Def EVs, and never died.

Doesn't Sheer Force turn off Psychic Fangs' screen breaking?

And yeah Wish was more just a precaution I didn't wind up needing. Noble Roar would've been the better option to sneak in before the barrier.
Goes to show that it's just a solid enough mon that you can play "suboptimally" and still clear it without much issue.

I kept checking the tooltip to see how many turns were left on my screen, and my reflect kept going away. Showdown calc also says psychic fangs damage is unaffected by sheer force. From this, I assume that the screen breaking effect is not removed.

Another solid support pokemon I found was Meowscarada.

Normal Sprite

Meoscarada @ SitrusBerry
Protean
252/0-/252+/0/4/0
Charm
Pollen Puff
Helping Hand
Chilling Water/Worry Seed/Mud Slap

Solid cleric support. T1 Charm to outspeed, become a fairy type, remove the SD, and then you get hit with a neutral Ice Punch. From there you can freestyle. Pollen puff and Helping Hand are mandatory. Pollen puff gives Meowscarada its niche as a cleric support, and Helping hand aids in going for game.

The last slot is flexible. Chilling water if you want to be able to clear dragon dance boosts or just generally keep lowering dmg output when your team is already in a stable position. Worry seed if you want to reduce damage at the expense of dealing with def drops. The benefit here is to reduce damage from crits (when you don’t get def drops, like with Koraidon/Kommo/Archaludon). Mud slap is an alternative dmg reduction option which is strongest when you already have atk drops (or have some underleveled/bad teammates).

Ah checking bulbapedia you're right, it doesnt count screen removal as a secondary effect
Go figure, probably explains why it took a while for damage to ramp up on my end. We had 3 fairies and a fighting type, Fangs probably got deprioritized.

So not sure if this is the right thread to discuss this...
Apparently we're getting an Unrivaled Shiny Rayquaza 7* Raid starting December 20th.

No other information aside that, not even what Tera Type it is (or mention if it's catchable, which I'm going to assume it is because why not, good way to advertise the anime; infact some are speculating for that reason it might be our first Stellar Type Raid).

EDIT:
* Leaflet never mentioned it was a 7*, that was just some wild speculation from a Raid planning site I read.
* Apparently atm the game can't support Stellar Type Raids without an update.

In order for it to be a Stellar raid, they would have to update the game; raids can't support the Stellar type.
So I'm guessing they probably just make it one of its regular typings depending on if they want to emphasize Dragon Ascent or Draco Meteor (I assume Dragon)

& actually do we even know if the Rayquaza raid is a 7* raid? It'd certainly be fitting, but I've not seen the leaflet and Serebii just says it's a Tera Raid without specifying the rank. It could just be a 5* Raid akin to Dialga/Palkia rather than a 7* Raid like Mewtwo was.

I corrected my post, I apologize for the misinformation.

Would the game need a major or just a quick update for it to support Stellar Types? Like usually between the big Raids the Switch has an update anyway, so it's really not anything to require an update for just the game specifically.

Forgot the Dialga/Palkia Raid were just 5*, and since I don't think we're getting a free Legendary to help us with this one, may likely be 5* too.

Though would be pretty neat if they also gave out Lucius' other Pokemon (Arboliva, Lapras, Kleavor, Entei, & Galarian Moltres).

It'd need a code update.
Probably not a big one, but a update nontheless, and I doubt they care of doing so.

It's much more likely to just be a tera flying raid spamming the hell out of dragon ascent.
I would expect it to be a 7* though, since Mewtwo also was. Maybe with some similar "event" connected to it (if you were to bring Mew to the Mewtwo raid it'd get gigaboosted)

The boost that Mew got against Mewtwo required its own specific code, so if GF wants to have some Pokémon (such as Terapagos) get a gigabuff, there would need to be another update.

Well I wasnt necessary implying they would do it, just it is a option.

Hey, a update to implement tera stellar raids + give special event buff to a event pokemon seems spicy though.
Too bad they would never do it, as letting Tera Stellar raids happen would let you get Stellar shards without owning the DLC and that's a big no no for capitalism

You still can, you just need to trade for them. Really slowly, but you can do it.
