It's time for 1v1 PL VIII, starting off with deciding team managers. Only post in this thread if you would like to sign up to manage a team, player signups will be coming later. Everyone (past, and new managers alike) are required to sign up if you wish to manage with no exceptions. You are allowed to sign up as a solo manager (i.e. you do not necessarily have to sign up with an assistant manager anymore.) Managers will be chosen based on a number of factors, such as prior experience in team tour leadership, experience with the 1v1 metagame, and general good behavior on Smogon and PS!. You must sign up for one of the tournament's franchises. No team will change names and we will provide the logos. The 8 available franchises are: Hellfire Heatrans, Metro Boomin' Megarays, Drive-By Dragapults, Big Baller Barraskewdas, Hyperspace Horrors, RPS Rhyperiors, Trigger-Happy Thwackeys, and Playful Panchams.

This year's format is:
  • SV 1v1 Bo7
  • SV 1v1
  • SV 1v1
  • SS 1v1 Bo7
  • SS 1v1
  • SM 1v1
  • ORAS 1v1
  • BW 1v1
Manager signups will close June 9th. The hosts will announce the selected managers and open player signups shortly afterwards.

Price Last 1v1PL / 2 + Wins Last 1v1PL * 2000 = Self Buy Price
(If result ends in 250 it rounds down, if results ends in 750 rounds up. For example 17250 = 17000, 12750 = 13000)

Note that it says 1v1PL and not last 1v1 Team Tour (OGPL and WC not included). If you did not play last 1v1PL, it goes back to the last 1v1PL you played. For example, the last 1v1PL I played was 1v1PL VI, so my price and record would be from that tour. If you have not played 1v1PL before, your self buy price will default to 10000, which will be the minimum self buy price (If the formula for you adds up to say 8000, your price will be 10000).

Why would you be a good manager? (Prior experience + any other additional details): lost heros and I both have plenty of experience managing PLs years back, which we were recently able to demonstrate by managing Go-Go Gogoats in OGPL and having a decently succesful run falling just short of playoffs. We're also both prominent community figures with high activity in room, discord, and smogon. As such, we're familiar with the playerbase and able to make informed decisions on both seasoned and upcoming talent.

Why would you be a good manager? (Prior experience + any other additional details):

I managed the RPS Rhyperiors for the last two PLs and the RPS Rhydons during OGPLI, and I won OGPLII playing for the Stolen Spectres. I was a manager for the last three World Cups of 1v1, and I've been involved with 1v1 for the last eight years, introducing many new players to the format via my YouTube channel and developing several gens of 1v1. I lead SM 1v1 and I can provide team support for every slot.

Murm is my returning co-captain because he's a positive team presence, a spreadsheet wizard, and an impressive SV player. His teambuilding skills and helpful attitude will make playing for our team a rewarding experience for newer players and veterans alike.

I have prior manager experience through 1v1 World Cup VII in LATAM and have been considered a trusted member of the 1v1 discord and its PS! room for almost a year now, I've also been entrusted to be part of the VR Council and am experienced in several teamtours, even playing 1v1 for some.

SwordIsBored is also a trusted member in the community, and more experienced as well, having won the very first SV 1v1 Kickoff, and had been part of the VR Council as well. His great enthusiasm for resparking Heatrans is really the reason i signed us up here, and he's excited for his first manager experience.

Won last ogpl and wc. 16-7 on the sheet. I'm ex 1v1 council and ss council and am currently vr council. I put last years Heatrans on my back as the primary managerial presence to diminishing returns... With freedom to draft however, I don't see anything stopping my team from winning the tour. I should have the right to correct last years mess over anyone else.

I have managed multiple tournaments in the past between last year's OGPL and Premier League, and brought US Central to finals as Captain in WC7.
RADU has managed PL5 bringing the Thwackeys up to finals tiebreaker, won WC5 as Captain of South Europe, and has other experience winning various 2v2PLs in a row as manager.
We both share legacy in the Thwackeys, with Radu being the creator of the franchise and me managing them last year.

I'll be co managing
I won the most recent pl, have experience captaining and managing and am familiar with the player base.
I havent been as active lately and am excited to turn that around with this PL

I have managed two seasons of ADPL and PWC, winning the latter. Having played a lot of team tournaments, I contribute significantly to every team I am drafted into. I have been selected for the 2024 WCOP and many other Smogon team tours over the years. Additionally, I have won the 1v1 Masters, reached the top 8 in the circuit playoffs, and competed in the last OGPL, 1v1WC, and USA vs. World (lol) . My co-manager also has a lot of experience, having managed numerous team tours such as ADVPL, UMPL, DWCOP, UWC, NDWC, and TPPL. Both of us played in the last 1v1 WC as well. Together, we will bring a lot of energy and support to our team, and make it a great campaign for all the drafted players.

Why would you be a good manager? (Prior experience + any other additional details): Past PL+WC Champ and an experienced manager/player. Dez is dez I guess he can be useful sometimes.

edit: ok he's very useful like I think he managed the world cup europe team and was a good support past PLs

Why would you be a good manager? (Prior experience + any other additional details): I am a seasoned 1v1 team tour player who builds for 2+ slots. I managed last OGPL but did not make poffs due to unfortunate circumstances. Eli will be my co as he has a talks a lot, has a solid intuition for the tier, and is probably the person most excited about 1v1 rn.

Played in 1v1 tours such as winning 1v1WC and semis in NPA last year, near the top of the circuit leaderboard, I know the community as well as the metagame. I have managed OUPL to first seed and semifinals, as well as some discord tours. As a player I have a plethora of tour experience, having played in PTPL, WCOP, BLT, ADPL, RoAPL, DPL, RBTT, WCOR, BDSPPL, OMPL, RCOP... and more, the list goes on, with many wins. I have made playoffs in the majority of tours I have played/managed in, and as manager of 1v1PL this will not be changing. Suzuya is one of the goats of the tour scene period, he has played in pretty much every tour there is such as SCL, RUPL, PTPL, BLT, etc. and has won many of them too such as UPL, NDPL etc, and managed just as many tours as he has played.
Needless to say, the Inder Exotic synergy could not get better. We have teamed in many tours before such as OUPL and RoAPL, and are looking to turn this 1v1PL into another win, MDRRR.

Why would you be a good manager? (Prior experience + any other additional details): I am a longtime 1v1 player that has played in most 1v1 team tours with an ok record. I managed 1v1pl and omfl II once and won. I have played in multiple team tours over the years including 1v1pl, 1v1wc, ogpl, agpl II, ndpl I, mpl, mwp III, monoblt, mwc, blt, cappl, ompl, zupl, pspl, ndompl, and omfl. I know how to manage a team and help in older gen slots (bw-sm). I gotten far in some 1v1 individual tours from 2019-2021 and in my more active years wrote sm 1v1 analyses and was chatty in 1v1 discord.
