Yes that is true but if they SR first turn then you can hit them back with the proper attack (Mirror or Counter) since it is obvious what most types of attacks a lead uses. For instance you could keep Countering a Metagross until he attacks. If he wants to go on a PP stall then you can just encore his set up move (SR).

For trick leads if you encore them then they have to trick you again, taking back the scarf that they gave you (remember switching out isnt an option :D) but sleep leads still mess Wynaut up.

But yea I agree the most powerful part would be suprise factor if anything. I remember when I first saw it in Ubers I said WTF

Hey I was reading the thread on Wynaut and I wanted to tell you about a strange lead I saw in Ubers

Wynaut @ Focus Sash
(I don't know EVs since I didnt run it)
Encore
Mirror Coat
Counter
Destiny Bond

As a lead this works great since virtually no leads carry stat up moves. The idea is to use Destiny Bond the first turn, which will make your opponent hesitant to kill Wynaut just to sacrifice thier lead. Because of Destiny Bond they will most likely use a Support Move such as SR or whatever. Essentially you are able to safely send in a sweeper safely and set up.

The only problem I can see with this is Taunters or sleep leads. In the end if the opponent Taunts Wynaut then they lose thier lead since Wynaut can survive any attack thanks to Sash and hit back with Counter/Mirror Coat. Nothing you can do against sleep leads =/

Oh and Lead MixNite might be problematic too. I would have posted this in the thread but I don't have permission :(
