Thanks to its blistering Speed stat letting it outrun the entirety of the unboosted metagame as well as a decent defensive typing, Dragapult makes for an excellent dual screens setter and an enabler of potent offensive threats. Curse serves to both put a timer on bulkier threats and enable Dragapult to bring in a more dangerous teammate safely by causing itself to faint. Dragon Darts can be used to give Dragapult some offensive presence, providing chip damage against non-Fairy-types. Alternatively, U-turn can bring in Dragapult's teammates after dual screens have been set up without it needing to KO itself while also letting it come back later to set them again. Thunder Wave or Will-O-Wisp can be used in the last slot in order to cripple faster threats or physical attackers to enable teammates to set up, but it leaves Dragapult passive and vulnerable to Taunt. Cursed Body is used to potentially punish Pokemon that attack Dragapult while it sets up dual screens; if a Choice-locked Pokemon such as Enamorus activates the ability, it lends Dragapult's teammates an opportunity to set up. Terastallizing Dragapult is rarely recommended in order to let more offensive teammates Terastallize and to avoid Terastallization removing Curse's damaging effect, but Steel can enable Dragapult to take a hit from Enamorus's Moonblast or Baxcalibur's Ice Shard in order to set up dual screens in a pinch. Tera Fairy gives Dragapult an immunity to other Dragapult's Dragon moves and Baxcalibur's Glaive Rush as well as an important resistance to Knock Off from the likes of physical Iron Valiant and Meowscarada. Dual screens Dragapult should only be used on hyper offensive teams. Setup sweepers such as Belly Drum Azumarill, Kingambit, Calm Mind Enamorus, and Swords Dance Iron Valiant appreciate the extra bulk afforded by dual screens, giving them more setup opportunities and preventing them from easily being revenge killed. Azumarill also threatens offensive Cinderace, punishing it for stealing its team's dual screens with Court Change. Iron Defense Zamazenta is another great teammate, as dual screens boosts its already good bulk to absurd levels. It also appreciates Dragapult's ability to wear down Pokemon such as Zapdos with Curse. Corviknight is an annoyance for Dragapult due to its resistance to Dragon Darts as well as its ability to remove Dragapult's dual screens with Defog. As a result, Dragapult appreciates Pokemon that can threaten it and prevent it from Defogging, such as Iron Moth and Gholdengo.
