Hello, and welcome to MetaMons! In this Pet Mod, we will aim to create a decently-sized micrometa that will expand in the unique niches of some Pokémon, giving them the spotlight after all the time they have been waiting. This Pet Mod will have slates, votes, you know, all the things pet mods have.

The submission cycle will work like this:

Each slate, you are given 3 Pokémon that are going to be buffed and rebalanced, according to the power level of the mod (which is OU-based). Each Pokémon will have their own restrictions for what can be buffed and what can't. Take a look at this for example:


Must be

-type
Must keep Prankster as one of its abilities
Must have low to mid offenses

Then, you will be able to sub your 'new version' of the Pokémon, while still keeping its identity, according to the submission rules:

• Keep the power level of the mod in mind and reasonable.
• Custom Abilities and Moves ARE allowed, but don't bloat your subs with those.
• Always remember to follow the restrictions.

This Pet Mod will also be based in the SS OU mechanics, but National Dex Pokémon and Moves will be valid (still no Megas and no Z-Moves.)

Below, the Pokémon will be ranked by viability. The Pokémon inside the tiers are ordered.

S Tier - The best of the best in the MetaMons metagame. They have their flaws, but their good traits make those flaws a joke when choosing the Pokémon for your team.
- Bastiodon
- Sylveon

S- Tier - These Pokémon are still really good, and they have their unique traits to provide for your team, usually also mastering it. Though, their flaws are a little bit more noticeable than the S tier Pokémon.
- Toxicroak
- Persian-Alola
- Eelektross

A+ Tier - These Pokémon are very important pieces of the metagame, but are a tad bit less splashable than S- Tier Pokémon.

A Tier - While these Pokémon are usable, they certainly are not the peak Pokémon in the metagame. You can find success with almost all of them easily, but they aren't required for any team.

A- Tier - These Pokémon have flaws which make them nicher options, but they can function well regardless and you can find them on teams often. They can do quite a lot of work, even if they don't have the best viability ever.

B Tier - These Pokémon have niche uses, but aren't really needed in most situations.

D Tier - This Pokémon is bad. It doesn't actually trap steels since all of them can kill it (even itself) and Perrserker can switch out of it since it has its Ghost-type. You can maybe find an use to it but it's very bad.

Description: These changes make Salazzle a real offensive threat for steel types. There is no possible secondary type that makes steel types resist fire, and Mold Breaker prevents Flash Fire from stopping it. If you want to lean into the Corrosion role, Earth Power helps deal with Flash Fire mons, unless we end up giving a Steel/Flying type Flash Fire in the future, in which case, oh well.

Description: Whimsicott gets Solar Power over Chlorophyll because its best stat is still its Spe and if you want to run a weather set, it wants help with its offensive power. Whimsicott gets better bulk and a slight offensive buff to prevent being passive. Whimsicott also has some crazy utility such as Aromatherapy, Cotton Guard, Defog, Destiny Bond, Encore, Healing Wish, Imprison, Leech Seed, Memento, Powder, Stun Spore, Switcheroo, Tailwind, Taunt, Toxic & recovery. These additions allow Whimsicott to perform much better as a bulkier but not passive prankster utility mon.

Description: Salazzle takes to the skies and with Acid Rain + Hurricane it hits everything but Steel-types super effectively, unless you use Fire Lash which was left as a potential option for those crazy enough to go for it (which I hope they do, cause that's funny). This is where Corrosion comes in. Corrosion allows Salazzle to bypass its Steel-type checks by Badly Poisoning them and then escaping. Overall, Salazzle is a sweeper with strong stabs & potential set up with Nasty Plot that ignores Steel-types it can't hit by poisoning them with Corrosion and pivoting out.

Description: grass / ghost is a funni defnsive typing, i was originally gonna go for grass / flying, but i feel ghost is better. shadow ball is some good STAB for non-prankster sets, with parting shot beeing very cool for pivotting around quickly. Hex is really funny as well for effect spore sets, and the ability was added because i feel it can be an interesting wall with it. overall, it pivots around, is fairly annoying, and can do Hex + Toxic strats. also defogs

Description: Fun fact - it was I who subbed the winning Whimsicott to the OG Metamons! And Whimsicott is one of my favorite Pokemon, so I was very happy with that. Anyways, I haven't subbed much as of late, or even played Pokemon much in general, so I might be way off with this. Basically, I wanted to make Whimsicott into a fat pivot, I felt that sort of role would be what suits its intended role best. Spikes and Teleport would encourage it to be used on more offense-oriented teams, and while it's a bit harder to slot now, Prankster Stun Spore (now boosted to Thunder Wave) should still be very nice if you want a way to scare bunch of faster offensive Pokemon. Prankster will probably be better, but Static is an option to punish U-Turn and Knock Off.

Description: Kingler has always struggled with it's middling speed tier; Swift Swim solves this plus it encourages Kingler to be used in rain as it powers up it's Water-type moves and again weakens Fire-type moves which are now neutral against Kingler due to the added Ice-typing. Waterfall, Flip Turn, and Ice Punch are quite self explanatory additions, but you might be wondering why it learns Freeze-Dry? Well, I figured that since it was part Water-type, having the ability to freeze water should be possible as well. Also it's special attack is actually decent which opens up doors to more mixed sets. The removals are purely to balance it out. The less answers to Steel-types the better and I don't understand why it has access to Rock-type moves? Stomping Tantrum also seems a little weird for a crab with legs made out of spaghetti noodles.

Description: Kingler but better at everything it does. Super Luck gives it a great crit rate with Crabhammer or Leaf Blade, or alternatively you could use Motor Drive for a nice immunity and a much-appreciated Speed boost if you predict well.

Description: Reworked to be a general wall/Stall Mon. It's already is a good status spreader so it'll appreciate the extra bulk. A slight boost to attack so it can utilize knock off to cripple sets, a slight speed drop to possibly balance its stats. (Still a powerful wall). Given proper recovery so it doesn't have to rely on leech seed and can focus completely on status spread. Fluffy's incredible and I'd consider it broken if not for the fact that it's still KOd by most fire moves. Cotton Down is more of a doubles thing, but it still has the option in singles to just switch in, lower speed, then U-turn away. For the move removals, I didn't really understand why Whimsicott was canonically given these moves in the first place. Not all fairies should have Moonblast or Dazzling Gleam (what about Mimikyu and Grimmsnarl is dazzling? it's not their looks) just because they're fairy type and since I removed its Fairy type there's just no justification to keep it. As for the flying type moves, it doesn't really make sense considering that whether or not Whimsicott can canonically control wind streams is up to debate. Removing a good portion of its utility balances it out, essentially making it into a worse Tangrowth/Amoongus but with a gimmick.

*edit: removed Dazzling Gleam because it also didn't fit. What's dazzling about a scraggily ball of cotton?

God damn chief chill out. It's not like I removed it for the lols. I'm just saying that not all fairies should have Moonblast. Similar to how not every Grass and Dark type should have access to Power Whip and Sucker Punch respectively. It wouldn't make sense if a fish or bird got access to Sucker Punch just because they're a dark type, nor would it make sense if, more specifically, something like Volcorona got access to Eruption just because they're a Fire type. Just saying, it doesn't make sense thematically. Especially when I removed Whimsicott's Fairy typing.

Also I totally forgot to remove Dazzling Gleam so the post was edited.

Description: Fast Special attacker that can use Flip turn to scout switchins and gain momentum. Your STAB combo has great neutral coverage, as no type resists both, Water hits the Ground and Rock types that resist Poison, and Poison hits Grass types that resist Water. Adaptability makes you a more powerful attacker, were as Corrosion lets you act as a lure for the few things that do resist your STABs, (Like Ferro and Toxapex), and cripple them with Toxic.

Really, the issue here is adaptability. Not only this lets it hit super super hard, it also overshadows corrosion by a landslide. Salazzle is encouraged to run a specs (or some other form of offensive) Adaptability set over Corrosion especially because of the meta environment we have here early, and Corrosion would just be ran if a really good counter to it was subbed. Also, there is no Toxapex nor Ferrothorn, so the use for it you mentioned wouldn't really make sense (and the grass-type we have is going to be weak original neutral to Poison anyways).

Just swap Adaptability for another ability, and you're good to go. You'll have 24 hours to fix the sub.
