I often stray away from using the staple mons in the current meta, like zama, pult, etc. I peaked top 50 with my Adrenaline Orb Gapdos team and got bored after laddering with it for a while. Looked through some mons that might actually have a good niche right now and found this old Rotom-Frost team I used months ago. With all the Raging Bolts, Ting-Lus and Hamurotts going around Rotom-Frost seemed like a cool mon to build around. Also being able to check Bolt and beat it without Tera is nice too. I know for a fact the team isn't great, there's probably someone better than Ogerpon-Cornerstone in that role, maybe Ribombee would be a better webs user than Araq, and the team lacks Knock Off which it would definitely benefit from I think. It's a very fun team and when you get in Rotom safely with webs up it can go crazy. I peaked 1700s with the team.

I want to improve this team and I'm open to any and all feedback as long as it means keeping Rotom-Frost in the team of course.
Rotom-Frost @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Blizzard
- Thunderbolt
- Tera Blast
Rotom-Frost is definitely not as good as it’s counterparts in Rotom-Wash and Rotom-Heat due to typing obviously. However, alongside icy rock slowking and webs Araquanid it can really steal the show sometimes. Hitting things like Corv and Skarm, and Dragon types for super effective with its stab moves which the rest of the team appreciate a lot. Since the team is built around it I figured it was okay to make it more Tera reliant than it already is with Tera Blast, and in doing so it can hit Pokémon which typically wall it like Heatran and Glowking. Being able to threaten Pokémon with STAB Blizzards in snow can force things out and let it safely set up with nasty plot. I was considering Life Orb because it doesn’t OHKO SpDef Glowking at +2 with Boots, but as the aim of the team was to let it shine Heavy-Duty Boots allows it to always switch in safely and provides it with the longevity it needs to sweep after the opposing team is chipped down a bit.
Slowking-Galar @ Icy Rock
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Future Sight
- Sludge Bomb
- Thunder Wave
- Chilly Reception
Glowking is just a standard SpDef set with Icy Rock over Boots. While yes its weak to hazards, regenerator can mitigate that and Icy Rock allows Glowking to almost always safely slow pivot into anything on the team and set up an 8 turn snow without wasting a turn on switching out, in turn letting Rotom-Frost get the most out of its Defence boost and 100% accuracy Blizzards. Glowking is the main answer to Special threats like Iron Valiant and Raging Bolt. Tera Water is mainly for Fire types as the team has no resist besides Araquanid which does not last long, and Walking Wake. Thunder wave is in case of webs not going up and also as insurance against Scarfers or big threats that run boots like Zamazenta and Darkrai.
Araquanid @ Focus Sash
Ability: Water Bubble
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 248 HP / 192 SpD / 68 Spe
Careful Nature
- Sticky Web
- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Mirror Coat
Araquanid is often the lead, setting up webs. If it succeeds in doing so then Booster Attack Tusk, Ogerpon, Gholdengo, and Rotom-Frost all get more freedom to switch in and just click buttons. I preferred it to Ribombee as it has a better defensive profile and does not add to the team's fire weakness. Furthermore, SpDef Araquanid and mirror coat catches a lot of special threats off guard. The team struggles a lot to Boots Darkrai and Araquanid is often the answer to it, threatening it with all of its attacks. Tera Ghost is to guarantee that webs aren't removed. But as I type this right now I do think the team would benefit from a more physically defensive set since it already has a high SpDef stat and there are no physical walls on the team. Additionally, Lunge may be a better option than Leech Life as it can somewhat deal with the issue of Araquanid being set-up fodder and it can let Tusk, Ghold, and/or Rotom to set up on the Pokemon in front of them.
Great Tusk @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Headlong Rush
- Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin
Great Tusk with Booster Attack breaks rlly well against most teams and with web support can be unstoppable if the opposing Corviknight or Skarm is down. This is why its great in tandem with Rotom-Frost. They surprisingly synergise well with each other hitting what the other one can't. Tusk is often the wincon and has won more games on its own than Rotom-Frost, webs allows it to set up more freely and with Tera Ice it can actually make use of the Defence boost because of the 8 turns of snow. Adding on to that, Tera boosted Ice Spinner 2HKOs max Def Sinistcha if Booster has already been used and can guarantee a kill on Roaring moon regardless of whether it teras or not meaning no need to worry about clicking Headlong Rush or Ice Spinner. Tusk is also the removal for the team and with Booster Attack it can beat Defensive Balloon Ghold which the team is pretty weak against, therefore making it easier for Tusk to remove hazards and to free up Ogerpon after Ghold is down.
Gholdengo @ Air Balloon
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Make It Rain
- Recover
Gholdengo is EV'd to outspeed adamant Dragonite and is offensive as it did not feel like it was necessary to have a lot of bulk considering webs will be up before it comes out. Also Ghold with a balloon does a great job at preventing hazards from being removed for this team and it can outspeed Darkrai if it is not Scarf or Boots which helps alot in that match up as Darkrai, as I mentioned before, kind of smokes this team. It also provides as good insurance for the Valiant mu if Glowking is down or low, and it is the best answer to Zamazenta on this team. I do think there is a good case to it being Max HP with the same Speed EVs and the rest in SpA and I might try that if and when I go on a losing streak with the team. Tera Fairy is just generally the best tera in more cases, flipping the mu against Darkrai, Zama, and Kingambit.
Ogerpon-Cornerstone (F) @ Cornerstone Mask
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- Horn Leech
- Low Kick
- U-turn/Spikes
Ogerpon-Cornerstone mainly ended up on the team because I wanted to try it, and it has remained due to the great deal of success I have had with it. Tusk being able to get rid of hazards reliably for this team and Araq being able to get webs up reliably and keep them up, all aid Oger in maintaining its Sturdy which has come up clutch many times for me. In addition, with how 110 speed tier has become the new 100 speed tier, webs really let Oger come in and click buttons whenever it wants to. I had the most success with 4 attacks U-turn as the team does not have much going for pivoting besdies Glowking and I often found myself clicking an attack rather than spikes. However, the spikes set does have a good matchup into some teams and Ghold can always keep them up for the most part. Low Kick is necessary to hit Gambit which is good into pretty much every team. Ivy Cudgel is always gonna be on this Pokemon and I opted for Horn Leech over Whip to ensure Oger has the best chance of keeping its sturdy, but I do think Power Whip is good considering it is not an SD set and Power Whip can 2HKO or OHKO a lot of top tier threats after a spike. I tried to fit Knock Off on it because the team would benefit a lot from being able to get rid of Boots or Scarfs but I like the 4 attack U-turn set too much to do so.
Weaknesses: The team very much struggles against Dark types, more specifically Darkrai, Kingambit, and Hamurott as Gambit does not care about webs, and Darkrai and Hamurott often run Scarf or Boots. This allows them to do their jobs freely against this team and in most cases it would require Glowking living to get a paralysis off or exhausting Tera. This is because the team lacks a solid Dark-resist besides Tusk which gets significantly chipped down by all of them. Cinderace has a great matchup into the team, with no fire resist besides Araquanid and the ability to bypass Gholdengo to just switch webs onto this team's side of the field. Finally, Zamazenta is a big threat (Like it is against everything in this meta) since Bulk Up Tusk does not have a good Tera for the matchup and is slower in most cases due to Boots. Only Glowking and Gholdengo can do reliable damage to Zama without terastallizing, but they still have to fear Crunch and Zama can just tera to resist their attacks. Once it gets 1 or 2 Iron Defenses up, Zama very easily sweeps the whole team, especially if Glowking fails to paralyse it.
This is the best showcase of the team, mainly Rotom: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-2177911915-zbs9syzy77vu754i3mgcla3dxy21cvxpw
