Tournament The ZU Classic - Introduction

Welcome to the first ever ZU Classic. The first iteration of this tournament celebrates ZU's history throughout the years. Players will compete in separate tournaments for the ADV, DPP, BW, and ORAS generations, culminating in a finals where players will have to put their ZU Old Gens knowledge to the test to have a chance to win.

The format consists of four separate tournaments: The ADV Cup, The DPP Cup, The BW Cup, and The ORAS Cup. Each tournament is single elimination, best of three. Depending on your performance in a Cup, you will be awarded points. The point system is the same as the one used in Smogon Classic. When all the Cups have been finished, the eight players with the most points will advance to the playoffs. There they will battle in a best of three series until there is one undisputed ZU Classic champion.

Signups for each Cup will be posted a week after the signups for the previous Cup in ZU subforum. The hosts are allowed to play in the tournament that they are administering, as long as they elect someone else to create pairings. Here is the list of the Cups with the names of the hosts and the dates each will be posted:

• The ADV Cup - Hosted by Aaronboyer, Xayah, and 5gen - June 3rd
• The DPP Cup - Hosted by DurzaOffTopic - June 10th
• The BW Cup - Hosted by Xayah - June 17th
• The ORAS Cup - Hosted by 5gen - June 24th

If there are any questions, post in this thread and I will answer them as well as I can. Do not use this thread as a venue to complain about the format. Also keep in mind that this thread is not place to sign up for the ZU Classic. Players wanting to participate in the ZU Classic must sign up for each individual Cup posted every week. This is not a signup thread, no. The individual Cups will get their own signup threads.

as stated in this announcement, Baton Pass has been limited to Dry Pass in ADV ZU, and breaking this rule in the ADV ZU Cup will result in automatic disqualification from the cup.

via this announcement, Regigigas is now banned from BW ZU. It will be legal for any remaining round 1 games and will be not allowed to be used in round 2 or any following rounds.

Whoever you are facing in playoffs will decide which of the three metagames you will play first. Then the loser of that game will decide the next generation, and the loser of that game will decide the last generation if a game 3 needs to be played.
