Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Sadly i never ended up using Buizel, and it ended up being fodder to preserve Archen. The set I brought was:
Buizel @ Berry Juice
Ability: Water Veil
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 SpD / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Focus Punch
- Substitute
The idea here was to set up sub on a switch out from Archen (or other rock/ground types) and fire off ice punches on grass types or focus punches on more neutral targets that resist waterfall and ice punch. I think this mon should be ranked, maybe at C or B- if generous.
Mudkip and Snorunt are my mons for the final. Mudkip looks pretty solid, with an OK movepool and decent bulk. Snorunt seems a bit meh, but has solid bulk at least.
Thanks to taranteeeno for hosting this tour and everyone who participated. I think this was a really nice way to close out the generation and I hope we get workable LC UU metagame come Sword and Shield. But since the tier is gonna go on a bit of a hiatus until then, I'll probably be posting some teams and closing thoughts on the meta in the general thread.
I'm not gonna lie, this win feels really good for me. Like, probably more than it should for how niche of a tour and meta LC UU is lol. But the fact that I was able to pick up my first individual forum tour win means a lot to me. Especially with how washed up I felt coming back to mons and LC after stepping away for like 2 and a half years. Something about SM LC just never clicked with me and it's been really discouraging for how I've viewed myself as a player. But being able to find success and fun in LC UU has done a lot to make me feel confident and optimistic that I'm not completely washed, and that I will be able to bounce back and consider myself a "good" player again in Sword and Shield.
Congrats to Joltage for the deserved win and thanks taranteeeno for hosting and not censoring my teams. I'm pretty surprised by how far I got, considering I was using random mons (I did that because I was feeling pretty burnt out), and I played about 2 test games in total for the whole tour. To round off the randoms part of the tour, I've put down my Mudkip and Snorunt sets.
I wanted to use this guy's access to counter and mirror coat, with Waterfall as the primary STAB and Superpower because reasons. He's got strong bulk so lives most hits (in theory, I didn't actually do any calcs) and can remove the opposing mon.
This set was more creative than Mudkip, using Snorunt's access to Switcheroo to potentially force a scarf onto a defensive mon. Frost Breath is its best STAB move as it does slightly more than Ice Beam after factoring in the crit. Shadow Ball hits Frillish and Water Pulse surprises Fire types - particularly Houndour.
