Timid Nature
- Shell Smash
- Shadow Ball
- Stored Power
- Giga Drain
[SET COMMENTS]
With its unique access to Shell Smash and Stored Power, Polteageist carves itself a niche as a decent sweeper, aided by Queenly Majesty against priority moves from the likes of Slither Wing and Dragonite. Stored Power, after a Shell Smash boost, lets Polteageist blast through anything that isn't a Dark-type or a dedicated special wall. Giga Drain allows Polteageist to OHKO Swampert after slight chip damage as well as letting it deal great damage to both Ting-Lu and Chien-Pao. Polteageist can pair well with Pokemon like Dragonite, Zamazenta, and Iron Hands, which can bait in Pokemon that it can scare out such as Pecharunt and Deoxys-D. Polteageist struggles with getting onto the field to set up due to entry hazards invalidating its Focus Sash and it being frail, so it usually appreciates Taunt leads like Corviknight and Deoxys-S and entry hazard removers like Great Tusk. Polteageist also cannot hurt most Dark-types in a meaningful way, so it enjoys having teammates like Great Tusk, Zamazenta, and Iron Hands, which can help remove most of them. Even though Polteageist can outspeed most unboosted Pokemon after a Shell Smash boost, it still struggles with Deoxys-S and most Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Azelf, Roaring Moon, and Walking Wake because they can easily outspeed it and KO it, so having speed control support from either Sticky Web or priority users like Dragonite is appreciated. Finally, Polteageist only works on offensive teams, as it's unable to provide much outside of setting up once and attempting to sweep, so supporting that sweep with teammates that provide either entry hazards, like Deoxys-S and Smeargle, or dual screens, like Corviknight and Regieleki, is a great boon to Polteageist.
