As expected, Smogon's partnership with Shoddy Battle caused a huge increase in battles on the Smogon University server. Last month, the total server battles jumped by MORE THAN 70,000! That is just incredible. For those of you that wonder why the server seems to be lagging a little more than in the past -- there's your answer. We are hosting almost half a million battles per month, which takes quite a bit of computing horsepower and network bandwidth to handle it all.
In perusing the May usage stats, I find a few things quite interesting:
These stats were gathered from 456,457 individual battles that were fought during the month of May on the Smogon Shoddy Battle Server. Usage and Leads are listed in the posts directly below this one.
Happy stat hunting!

In perusing the May usage stats, I find a few things quite interesting:
- Heracross dropped another four spots last month, now putting it 44th on the Standard ladder. It's mind-blowing that I would actually type this, but... at this rate, we might see Heracross in UU in the not-too-distant future. Wow. Just wow...
- Garchomp is on a whopping 64% of all Suspect ladder teams! Yes, all the suspects have inflated usage on that ladder, since the entire ladder revolves around them. But 64% is insanely high. For comparison, Latios -- a pokemon that was always Uber, and after suspect testing, it remained Uber -- it is only used on 42% of current Suspect teams. I can theorize many reasons for Chomp's massive popularity, but I'll save that for later. I'm sure the topic will come up once or twice here or elsewhere. ;-)
- Also on the suspect ladder, Salamence is a lowly 27th in usage. Obviously having a couple other possibly-uber Dragons in play (Chomp and Latios), puts a damper on Mence's usage. But, for the #2 pokemon in Standard to drop 25 places in Suspect -- that's a far bigger drop than I ever would have imagined. Perhaps others saw it coming. I didn't.
- And finally, can we make this the first month where we don't bitch endlessly about how much Electivire is used in Standard? Yeah, we all get it. Electivire supposedly sucks and shouldn't be used so much. There, I said it in the OP of the thread. That should be enough.
