German speakers can feel free to correct me on the details but I believe this is proposing a Fortnite collaboration with Pikachu and the replier mentions Eevee.
I looked around, but those are actually the only threads in the whole German Pokemon video games subforum. So I figured this would be a good time to explore all these other languages to see how active they are, since all I know of them is that each has their own moderators.
Conveniently on the right, we can see the number of threads for each category, with the German forums having no Unite presence at all and basically still being a pure TCG forum. It seems that the Who's Online list also carries over across languages. Note that there is a Pokemon TBD category that I will get more into later.
https://community.pokemon.com/de-de/discussion/10644/p#latest
I believe Frederik1000 is asking if this discussion can be deleted and Mod_Squirrel says they can't but the mods can do so and can delete it if they want. So already we're seeing better communication here than from the mods about such features, even though it took a week to reply.
Something very interesting I noticed though is that the German forums have a Pokemon Center/merch subforum in the
Pokemon General category that the English ones lack, with
unique art.
https://community.pokemon.com/de-de/categories/pokemon-center-de
There is only one thread in there, but it's still interesting. I think this guy is complaining about paying 5 euros per booster pack.
https://community.pokemon.com/de-de/discussion/6983/pokemon-booster-packs-real-life#latest
There aren't much other threads and most are just generic TCG complaints/mod responses, so I moved on.
https://community.pokemon.com/de-de/discussion/9720/handyspiel#latest
Next I looked at the Spanish version of the forums, starting off comparing the number of posts in each category once again.
https://community.pokemon.com/es-es/discussions
Here we have a sizable amount of UNITE posts, more than the main game categories, and generally is more active than the German forums. I also caught a Spanish mod on camera coincidentally that I saw making some posts.
https://community.pokemon.com/es-es...o-vuelven-a-hacer-evento-de-snom-porfa#latest
Already this is pretty impressive work, this guy is complaining about Pokemon Cafe Remix and Mod_Bumblebee actually links him to the correct support site rather than some English mods always linking to TCG Live support.
https://community.pokemon.com/es-es/discussion/11638/sobre-las-caja-license-selection-box#latest
And here we have Mod_Roy recognizing that this issue was from a Twitch stream implicitly. I believe in this case TPCi just was giving out a limited supply of a digital code for some reason and people got very mad about it, but again the Spanish mods seem to be the most understanding of the forum mods so far.
https://community.pokemon.com/es-es/discussion/11607/soy-nueva-ayuda-padres#latest
Another wholesome interaction where the mod actually goes out of their way to provide guides for parents to help get their kids into the card game. I have never seen an English mod link a strategy guide before. Overall I have to say these mods seem pretty responsive and active based on this sample size.
https://community.pokemon.com/es-es/discussion/11416/me-dan-consejos#latest
One last thread where the mod welcomes someone to the forum and points them to some helpful links.
So this is where I noticed that the non-English forums had this Pokemon TBD category that wasn't just a parallel to the Play! Pokemon forums and literally just means TBD. It also has its own
unique placeholder art.
https://community.pokemon.com/es-es/discussion/6089/que-es-pokemon-tdb#latest
The mods actually addressed this in the thread too.
You can also just make posts in the TBD forum just fine:
https://community.pokemon.com/es-es/discussion/6452/que-es-estooo#latest
Truly, it is a mystery what this TBD forum may be used for in the future.
https://community.pokemon.com/pt-br/discussions
The Portuguese forums are less active than the Spanish ones but more active than the German ones.
https://community.pokemon.com/pt-br/discussion/10795/inaceitavel#latest
This mod responded to a complaint from over a month ago about the coin toss bug in a kind of human way.
https://community.pokemon.com/pt-br/discussion/9360/melhorar-o-site#latest
Here Mod_Bento actually engages in a conversation about the state of the Pokemon website and feedback after the thread is bumped. Overall one of the friendliest mods yet.
https://community.pokemon.com/pt-br/discussion/5946/quais-sao-seus-pokemon-preferidos#latest
YagoFuecoco participates in one of the only instances of cross-language posting I have seen so far.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr/discussions
The French forums are fairly active as well but still behind the Spanish forums.
Immediately I see a bunch of mod activity, though it's mostly generic TCG support. It turns out Mod_Pandaroo is actually a cross-language mod too and even he is more helpful than in the English forums.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr...tion-de-pokemon-introuvable-legalement#latest
Here this guy is asking about legally obtaining Pokemon and Mod_Pandaroo suggests Pokemon GO and the HOME gift Magearna showing they actually have some game knowledge.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr...raper-chef-de-fer-si-il-fuit-le-combat#latest
Mod_Finn provides some support in case nobody responded, which is better off than leaving them hanging I suppose.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr/discussion/8868/zeraora#latest
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr/discussion/8638/bug-reproduction-des-formes-regionales#latest
This dude was like "I can't breed the regional forms" and Ghostly_Life responds with a detailed guide on using the Everstone and multiple mods applaud them.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr/discussion/7327/quel-est-le-metier-du-professeur-chen#latest
Even Mod_Pandaroo answers an important question about what Professor Oak's job is.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr...er-deux-fois-le-meme-legendaires-shiny#latest
BDSP question about transferring a shiny Mewtwo from the same game after resetting it. Mod_Life asks for clarification and gets no response. Personally I think resetting the game would be fine here but BDSP handled this weirdly.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr...-sauvegarde-violet-switch-pokemon-home#latest
This guy is asking about transferring Pokemon to HOME and starting a new game. Here the mod suggests to contact HOME support before doing anything, which feels unnecessary but I guess it is what they're paid for. So overall I think the French mods are nice enough and make an effort to make people feel heard even if they tend to suggest support more often than not.
https://community.pokemon.com/it-it/discussions
Lastly we have the Italian forums, ahead of the German forums but behind the Portuguese forums, also with no UNITE presence.
https://community.pokemon.com/it-it/discussion/10466/che-simpaticoni#latest
I think this is complaining about decking out and hackers/being sore losers.
https://community.pokemon.com/it-it...cellulare-scalda-troppo-e-va-in-blocco#latest
The mods here don't seem to be replying to any general Pokemon threads and are mainly just support bots. I think this guy's phone is just breaking.
https://community.pokemon.com/it-it/discussion/11698/valore-console#latest
I think this is a thread about trying to get a price for a 2DS, which I can't say I've seen on the English forums before.
The rest of these are more just tech support questions/answers.
As a final note, I made a post about my findings in the middle of this and clasingla pointed out they once saw a French user with an "Up Vote" reaction, so I went back into the depths of the French forums to track down a sighting for myself.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr/discussion/6490/encore-et-toujours-des-bugs#latest
Along the way I saw a thread with a reply by a [Deleted User]. It seems like this was once a former mod...
I found this passionate but long thread about Team Rocket and Mod_Finn approving.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr/discussion/5824/ma-passion-pour-la-team-rocket#latest
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr/profile/14313/Mimirocket
On a whim I checked their profile and found out they have a Promote reaction for that thread, even though it doesn't seem visible anywhere else for regular users.
https://community.pokemon.com/fr-fr/bestof/promote
This reminded me of how the Promote reaction works, in that you can sort by promoted posts on the Best Of page. So here are all the promoted posts on the French site:
No other language seems to have any promoted posts. It seems like Mod_Finn is promoting these as they reply publicly as well in support.
Notably a Squirtle avatar is here which is what clasingla might have seen but I'm not sure.

Random instance of a mod acknowledging the spam filter.
https://community.pokemon.com/en-us/search?domain=members&scope=site&source=community
In an attempt to find the users I was going through the Search page and found some interesting filter results.
Here you can see a bunch of the earliest accounts on the forum leaking a bunch of Vanilla Forums and TPCi test names, including Test Rank Timmy.
https://community.pokemon.com/en-us/profile/26/Timmy S
The account
https://community.pokemon.com/en-us/profile/89/TheParanomia has a Temporarily Unavailable custom avatar.
You can also see a list of roles and ranks to filter by:
Timmy is the only Guest on the site.
I found some interesting admin account names. MagicalLeaf is relatively new. SomeDucks made a
statement on some Play! Pokemon drama once.
Surprisingly the System account with ID 1 has been used to make 3 spanish posts.
https://community.pokemon.com/en-us/profile/1/System
https://community.pokemon.com/es-es/discussion/9648/migracion#latest
Apparently the discussions seem to have been manually split off from another thread and used as an OP.
Surprisingly there are only 27 Moderators compared to the 32 Administrators, though a bunch of the admins are probably just test accounts and some admins have Mod in their names.
TPCi_OnlineSafety is a mod without the mod label.
So far there are at least 10000 rank 1 users (as much as the search rounds to, which I find out is a flat cap later on), 59 at rank 2, 40 at Rank 3, 5 at Rank 4, and none at Rank 5 yet. In the last case the ones with no labels or posts have a private profile.
There are 24 users with the Moderator rank and 28 with the Administrator rank. Timmy S is the only one with the Test Rank.
Some forum statistics:
This date selection UI kind of sucks because clicking anywhere pops up a calendar above the text box that only goes month by month, but you can still type in it in the background. But also clicking on To works just fine showing the calendar in the same area, so who knows. Sometimes it actually worked properly and I'm not sure why. Even keyboard navigation kept making me enter something like 2 in the year tab.
73 users registered from 2021 to 2022, with the forum seemingly being created on March 26 2021 based on the earliest users made.
~3700 users registered from 2022 to 2023.
Notable milestones within 2022:
The TCG Live beta launched in Canada February 22, 2022, with the first public members joining soon afterwards. (30)
The beta expanded to Australia and New Zealand in July 19. (822)
The beta was available worldwide on November 15, 2022. (1800)
The Pokemon Unite forums posted their first patch notes on December 22, 2022. (3400+279)
About 10,000 users joined within 2023? (this is actually a search cap)
8.1k of these were before the announcement of the forums on July 4th, though I don't think this search counts banned users.
Actually I think this search just caps out at 10k either way, so we can hone in on this figure a little more.
7.2k (non-banned) members registered just in July 2023 overall (after announcement).
2.9k registered in August 2023...
and 9.8k registered from September to the end of the year.
8100+7200+2900+9800= about 28000 non-banned members registering within 2023.
Within 2024, 5.6k members registered from January to March and 5.3k from April to June currently for about 10900 total members in 2024 so far.
In total the official Pokemon forum has about 73 + 3700 + 28000 + 10900 = 42673 non-banned members by this count.
We can actually get an idea of the actual total simply by checking the user ID of the latest registered account:
https://community.pokemon.com/en-us/profile/43262/JHP610
So there's a difference of 589 between my estimate and the IDs. I would say about a few dozen of those might be lost to rounding, and the rest are the banned users.
I actually went to check and the HTTP request does provide the actual amount for each request, so we can get even more precise.
2021-2022: 73 users
2022-2023: 3659 users
January 2023-June 2023: 7867 users
July 2023 (1-31): 7377 users
August 2023: 2897 users
September-December 2023: 9823 users
January-March 2024: 5571 users
April-June (21) 2024 today: 5301 users
In total this leaves us with 42568 users, about 100 below the estimate and leaving 694 users that are probably banned compared to the latest user ID of 43262. If you got this far I hope this was worth it.
