Eelektross [QC 0/3]

Status
Not open for further replies.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Combination of typing and ability grant it no weaknesses.
  • High Attack (115) and Special Attack (105) stats allow Eelektross to be physical, special, or anything in between.
  • Slow Speed (50) leaves Eelektross vulnerable to attacks, but allows it to serve as an effective slow-offensive pivot in the early to mid game.
  • Eelektross' typing leaves it vulnerable to status, and lacks viable recovery other than Giga Drain (Maybe Drain Punch if a physical alternative is chosen).
  • Unique move pool allows Eelektross to counter, or at least check, much of the RU meta game.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Due to Eelektross' low Speed stat, Volt Switch is necessary since it allows Eelektross to scout out an opponent's move, deal reasonable damage, then switch to a reasonable check or counter.
  • Giga Drain deals heavy damage to many Pokemon such as Rhyperior, Gastrodon, and Quagsire.
  • Flamethrower roasts many opponents such as Virizion, Mega-Glalie, and Amoonguss. Deals heavy damage to potential switch-ins or late game sweepers like Durant and Escavalier.
  • Thunderbolt is Eelektross' best STAB special attacking move with 100% accuracy.
  • Knock Off is a very good option to apply pressure to Calm Mind Meloetta sets among other things.

Set Details
========
  • Modest Nature preferred for maximum damage output when all moves are specially oriented.
  • Assault Vest provides longevity for Eelektross since it doesn't have a very good move pool for stalling.
  • Defense EVS mitigate damage from entry hazards, but aren't too necessary since Eelektross isn't weak to them anyways.

Usage Tips
========

  • Eelektross is very good at dealing steady damage to the opponent in order to prepare for the late game, so it is often a good idea to switch it in and out constantly.
  • Beware powerful physical attackers like Flygon, Druddigon, Hitmonlee, Medicham, and Tyrantrum.
Team Options
========

  • Powerful breakers such as Braviary, Megacham, and Durant are great teammates that benefit from Volt Switch damage.
  • Pokemon such as Emboar and Tyrantrum greatly appreciate Eelektross' ability to counter many Ground-types in the tier.
  • Teammates that counter strong Physical attackers are excellent options. On the counter-offensive spectrum against Dragons, Mega Glalie and Flygon get the job done, while Golbat takes care of Fighting-types, and powerful Fire-types such as Delphox, Camerupt, and Emboar take care of Durant. Defensively, a Hidden Power Ice from a Tangrowth can certainly weaken many Dragons, and Cofagrigus is excellent at taking hits and dishing out burns.
  • Delphox, Camerupt, and Emboar are also excellent at taking out troublesome Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Virizion.
  • While not necessary, Hitmontop is the best Rapid Spinner thanks to Intimidate and Eelektross' weakness to physical moves.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Physically oriented set with U-turn, HP Ice, Acid Spray, and Aqua Tail.
  1. U-turn serves much the same function as Volt Switch without the STAB bonus.
  2. HP Ice provides coverage against pesky Dragon-types which would normally counter Eelektross.
  3. Acid Spray can weaken Dragon-types on a switch-in, or provide pressure causing your opponent to switch Pokemon.
  4. Aqua Tail grants coverage against Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Mega Camerupt.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Common Physical Dragon Types** Pokemon like Tyrantrum, Flygon, and Druddigon can deal major damage due to the combination of their offensive prowess and the Assault Vest on Eelektross. Eelektross also lacks moves that can deal with them effectively.

**Strong Physical Mons** Pokemon like Durant, Glalie, and Hitmonlee can also deal major damage to Eelektross before Eelektross has a chance to retaliate.

**Mega-Camerupt** Its typing and power can prove very difficult to take out unless Eelektross is running Aqua Tail.

**Status** Lose physical strength. Whittles down since Eelektross frequently comes in and out.

I was thinking about adding Aqua Tail on the main set to deal with Mega-Camerupt and possibly making a physical Assault Vest variant altogether. Thoughts?

Remove the trick room mention but expand on the slow voltswitch part since its notable (also remove quiet nature). Overview should also note this Mon is susceptible to status and has no recovery bar giga drain.

Knock off doesn't really obliterate melo but its a safe move to spam when the opportunity has a strong check to see

Eel isn't really a late game sweeper and in fact it works better in the early to mid game phase as a pivot and general tool to weaken teams

  • Beware powerful physical attackers. One notable Pokemon has the possibility of hitting Eelektross with a super effective Earthquake, Sawk, since Druddigon rarely runs Earthquake. They both have Mold Breaker.
Just mention to switch out against strong physical attackers like ttrum flygon hitmonlee medichan. Remove the moldy eq mention llol.

  • When in doubt, Volt Switch.
Well if they have a ground type giga drain is smarter and Knock off too

This Mon doesn't need defog support since it actually likes hazards on the opposing side and isn't weak to hazards themselves. In team option you actually don't mention anything not generic (and licky which is very bad) when you should mention powerful breakers to take advantage of vs, stuff that beats grass types, and stuff that likes ground types weakened. Also stuff to take on physical attackers

Oo should include only a physical uturn set, hp ice, acid spray, and atail

Rework c&c completely since it should include dragon types in general (ttrum gon druddigon), strong physical mons (Durant glalie Lee), status I'd say, and mega camerupT I guess

Finished galbia's edits. Could I get an explanation on why team options needed stuff to take care of Grass-types please?

Scron sorry to say this but I and other QC members think this analysis isn't really good enough and lacking in quality based on your skeleton. With that being said, I'm reassigning it.

Don't be discouraged to contribute though as we like your enthusiasm, but it should be noted that metagame knowledge and knowing how to write a good analysis are important when it comes to writing them!

QC rejected 1/3
