Now, more for a show than anything (except for maybe raw damage), Lou calls out his most trusted teammate, Ferre the Absol. Armed with an Expert Belt, it seems ready to tear apart this last opponent and secure for Lou the victory.

In sheer desperation, a head of the Hydreigon make a concerted effort, firing off a Focused Blast of energy at Love Machine, miraculously hitting and getting a fortuitous secondary effect off of it; such are the benefits of being desperate. Lou's Pokemon, however, don't let up either; one hit from each of the two nearly tear the Hydreigon's Focus Sash in half – even now, they are barely more than tatters. Again, the three Pokemon attack fiercely, getting up close; for the Hydreigon, there is nothing else worth trying; for Love Machine and Ferre, there is nothing else with less risk. In this matchup of unfair numbers, though, the outcome is clear, especially with Ferre's ridiculous Superpowers striking the weakened Hydreigon back with each hit. Seeing only one opportunity remaining, Terror launches another Focus Blast at Love Machine, trying to at least score one last KO; alas, the Scrafty sees this coming and refuses it with a quick Protective barrier that causes the orb to dissipate into the air. Moments later, Fear, Terror, and Despair are downed by the third Superpower, and the qualification match is over.

"Humph. It appears you've won. Do not take this victory lightly, though, for we may return in the future. Tetsu! Bring the Eaters!"

A Bisharp lurking nearby walks over and grabs the fallen Hydriegon, before dragging it after the Tyranitar, leaving the stadium.

That only leaves Oblivion Knight, the Scrafty, unconcious, Mirage, the Zoroark, shifting back into her favored illusion, and...

"YOUR WORLD WILL SUFFER!"

Mirage jumped up high!

"YOU HAVE MADE AN ENEMY THIS DAY! WHEN I REVEAL MY FULL POWER-!"

Mirage used Bounce on Itsumo!
ITSUMO FAINTED!

The illusionary woman nods in satisfaction at the Keystone before turning to the new Dark Gym Leader of the Region of Smogon. She bows, then leaves the stadium.

In a few minutes, the Keystone teleports away...

Meanwhile...

"I think the priest... would have been pleased... I would like to give my congratulations in person... but it would probably be a bad idea... with Itsumo in the area..."

On a nearby skyscraper, Walker puts away his binoculars.

You think those demons are done?
For the leadership? Yes. The position of Gym Leader would have come with influence that could have been used to increase their followings.
But without the leadership-
Their followers will still increase in number, but at a much slower rate than they anticipated. As long as the new leader remains present, the Demons won't bother the town rulers of the region about leadership. But if he dissappears... again... there could be trouble.
Well, do we let the cursed one go now?
No. Not until later in the story, my apprentance. Remember what I told you.
The story is the only thing that matters. Nothing else.
Correct. Now, let's move. The Demon Lord of Destruction will be here in a couple of minutes... and we can't let the cursed one encounter him...

With that, the trio disappeared, leaving no question who was the Gym Leader of the Dark-type in the Region of Smogon: LouisCyphre.

: And that they talked about all their special powers or whatever. If they had stuff like that, why didn't they use it?
