[SET COMMENTS]
  • Salamence's Intimidate and coverage that hits Heatran and other Steel-types super effectively give it a niche over Latios as a Dragon-type Tailwind setter. That said, Tailwind is a luxury and is not needed for most teams. Additionally, Latios is an overall more consistent special attacking Dragon-type, thus relegating Salamence to specific team compositions that benefit from its unique combination of powerful coverage moves.
  • Draco Meteor is Salamence's strongest Dragon-type STAB attack, capable of OHKOing Landorus-T and Kyurem-B. Fire Blast hits Steel-types such as Metagross and Ferrothorn that commonly switch into Dragon-types. Hydro Pump is mainly used to hit Heatran super effectively but also OHKOes Landorus-T without Draco Meteor's drawbacks.
  • Life Orb allows Salamence to OHKO Metagross with Fire Blast after Stealth Rock and Landorus-T with Hydro Pump.
  • Salamence synergizes well with sand teams. Unlike Landorus-T, it is an Intimidate user that is not weak to Water, meaning it doesn't stack weaknesses with Tyranitar and Excadrill. Salamence also checks Landorus-T and Steel-types that use Substitute, such as Heatran and Metagross, which can be a nuisance for sand teams. In return, Excadrill checks Thundurus, while Tyranitar threatens Latios and Kyurem-B for Salamence. Genesect and Metagross are excellent partners, since they benefit from Salamence's ability to threaten Landorus-T, Heatran, and opposing Steel-types, while Salamence benefits from their ability to threaten Tyranitar and Kyurem-B. Tyranitar and Metagross both benefit from Tailwind, while Intimidate allows them to better tank hits and in Metagross's case, to set up and maintain Substitute more easily.

  • Salamence's access to Intimidate and ability (i'd rather not re-use 'ability' when you talk about its Ability prior) to hit both ways of hitting Heatran and Steel-types super effectively gives it a niche over Latios as a Dragon-type Tailwind setter. That said, Tailwind is a luxury and something not needed for most teams. Additionally, Latios is an overall more consistent special attacking Dragon-type, thus relegating Salamence to specific team compositions that can benefit from its unique skills.
  • Draco Meteor is Salamence's strongest Dragon-type STAB attack, capable of OHKOing Landorus-T and Kyurem-B. Fire Blast hits Steel-types, such as Metagross and Ferrothorn, that commonly switch into (remove space) Dragon-types. Hydro Pump is mainly to hit Heatran super-effectively (remove hyphen), but can also OHKOes Landorus-T without needing to burn Draco Meteor. i'd prefer specifying 'without incurring a spa drop'
  • Life Orb is the preferred item because it gives a boost to all of Salamence's attacks (dex info), allowing it to OHKO Metagross with Fire Blast after Stealth Rock and Landorus-T with Hydro Pump.
  • Salamence synergizes well with sand teams. Unlike Landorus-T, it is an Intimidate user that is not weak to Water, thus preventing stacking of weaknesses with Tyranitar and Excadrill. Salamence also checks Landorus-T and Substitute Steel-types, such as Heatran and Metagross, that which can be a nuisance for sand teams. In return, Excadrill checks Thundurus while Tyranitar can threatens Latios and Kyurem-B for Salamence. Genesect and Metagross are excellent partners since they benefit from Salamence's ability to threaten Landorus-T, Heatran, and opposing Steel-types,(add comma) while Salamence benefits from their ability to threaten Tyranitar and Kyurem-B. what kind of teammates benefit from salamence's specific combination of tailwind and intimidate?

That said, Tailwind is a luxury and something not needed for most teams. Additionally, Latios is an overall more consistent special attacking Dragon-type, thus relegating Salamence to specific team compositions that benefit from its unique combination of high power coverage moves skills. I think this sounds better tbh, basically the main reason to use it over latios if you do. if you don't like this here, you could move the phrasing of the unique combo to the first sentence i.e. "and unique combination of high power coverage moves that hit Heatran and Steel types...etc" but it's not mandatory I just think it's nice up 2 u as usual
