The following is a list of all competitive TMs obtainable in Pokemon Emerald. Any TMs that lack competitive use, whether it be due to a low Base Power or other reason, have been excluded.
- TM01 (Focus Punch): Route 115
- To reach TM01, you'll have to head to the northern part of the mountain, accessed easiest via Surfing from the southern end of the Route. The item is up the mountain path, to the left of a rock directly north of the path.
- TM02 (Dragon Claw): Meteor Falls
- Go to the back room in the basement of Meteor Falls. To get there, you'll need Surf and Waterfall. TM02 is located on the northern shore, lying on the ground.
- TM04 (Calm Mind): Mossdeep City
- Defeat Mossdeep City's Gym Leaders, Tate and Liza.
- TM05 (Roar): Route 114
- Before you reach the bridge that takes you to the southern area of the Route, talk to the Gentleman with a Poochyena beside him.
- TM06 (Toxic): Fiery Path
- TM06 is found in the northeastern corner of Fiery Path, in the area accessible only by Strength.
- TM08 (Bulk Up): Dewford City
- Defeat Dewford City's Gym Leader, Brawly.
- TM10 (Hidden Power): Fortree City
- Go in the middle house in the top section of Fortree City. Inside, talk to the old lady and correctly guess in which hand she's hidden the coin. It can also be bought in the Slateport City market for $1000.
- TM11 (Sunny Day): Scorched Slab
- To get to TM11, you'll need Surf. It is located on the northern shore, lying on the ground. It can also be received by clearing Trainer Hill's Normal mode in 12 minutes.
- TM12 (Taunt): Trick House
- Awarded as a prize for completing the fifth challenge.
- TM13 (Ice Beam): Abandoned Ship
- In the locked room on the basement floor, needs the Storage key to unlock it. TM 13 can also be received in exchange for 4000 coins in the Mauville Game Corner from the cashier on the left.
- TM14 (Blizzard): Lilycove Department Store
- Can be purchased for 5500 from the left hand cashier on the fourth floor.
- TM15 (Hyper Beam): Lilycove Department Store
- Can be purchased for 7500 from the left hand cashier on the fourth floor.
- TM16 (Light Screen): Lilycove Department Store
- Can be purchased for 3000 from the right hand cashier on the fourth floor.
- TM17 (Protect): Lilycove Department Store
- Can be purchased for 3000 from the right hand cashier on the fourth floor.
- TM18 (Rain Dance): Abandoned Ship
- Dive into the dark patch of water located in one of the rooms on the basement floor of the Abandoned Ship. Resurface, and head to Room 1 (the first door adjacent to the spot you resurface from) to find TM 18.
- TM19 (Giga Drain): Route 123
- TM19 is given to you by an NPC, found at the end of the peninsula. To get there, you need to Surf around Mt. Pyre. It can also be received by clearing Trainer Hill's Unique mode in 12 minutes.
- TM20 (Safeguard): Lilycove Department Store
- Can be purchased for $3000 from the right hand cashier on the fourth floor.
- TM21 (Frustration): Pacifidlog Town
- Talk to the man in the house on the lower left with an "unhappy" Pokemon at the front of your party.
- TM22 (SolarBeam): Safari Zone
- Surf across a small body of water—located in an area that can only be reached using the Mach Bike—to find TM 22.
- TM24 (Thunderbolt): Mauville City
- Given to you by Gym Leader Wattson after completing his side-quest in New Mauville. Can also be bought in the Mauville Game Corner for 4000 coins from the cashier on the left.
- TM25 (Thunder): Lilycove Department Store
- Can be bought for 5500 from the left hand cashier on the fourth floor.
- TM26 (Earthquake): Seafloor Cavern
- Located in one the chambers you pass through while heading to the deeper parts of the cave (Dive, Rock Smash, Strength, and Surf are needed to reach and navigate through the Cavern). TM 26 can also be obtained from Pokemon with the Pickup ability.
- TM27 (Return): Fallarbor Town, Pacifidlog Town
- Talk to Prof. Cozmo in Fallarbor Town once you've obtained the meteorite and he will give you the TM in exchange for it. Talk to the man in the house on the lower left of Pacifidlog Town with a "happy" Pokemon at the front of your party to obtain the TM.
- TM28 (Dig): Fossil Maniac's House
- Walk all the way to the back of the house, go through the cave, and talk to the Fossil Maniac.
- TM29 (Psychic): Mauville Game Corner
- Can be purchased for 3500 coins from the cashier on the left.
- TM30 (Shadow Ball): Mt. Pyre
- TM30 is found on the sixth floor of Mt. Pyre, lying on the ground. You need Surf to access Mt. Pyre.
- TM31 (Brick Break): Sootopolis City
- Given to you by the man living on the left side of Sootopolis City, in the square house northwest of the PokeMart. You need Surf to access the left side of Sootopolis. It can also be received by clearing Trainer Hill's Expert mode in 12 minutes.
- TM32 (Double Team): Route 113
- Northwest corner by the ninja boy in the ash pile. Can also be obtained in the Mauville Game Corner in exchange for 1500 from the cashier on the left.
- TM33 (Reflect): Lilycove Department Store
- Can be purchased for 3000 from the right hand cashier on the fourth floor.
- TM35 (Flamethrower): Mauville Game Corner
- Can be exchanged for 4000 coins from the cashier on the left.
- TM36 (Sludge Bomb): Dewford Town
- Given to you by the little girl in the building in the northwestern part of town.
- TM38 (Fire Blast): Lilycove Department Store
- Can be purchased for 5500 from the left hand cashier on the fourth floor.
- TM40 (Aerial Ace): Fortree City
- Defeat Fortree City's Gym Leader, Winona.
- TM41 (Torment): Slateport City
- Talk to the Sailor in the Battle Tent, located in the northwestern corner of town.
- TM42 (Facade): Petalburg City
- Defeat Petalburg City's Gym Leader, Norman.
- TM44 (Rest): Lilycove City
- Given to you by the man in the house directly right of the Move Deleter's home. Can also be obtained by Pokemon with the Pickup ability.
- TM50 (Overheat): Lavaridge Town
- Defeat Lavaridge Town's Gym Leader, Flannery.
- HM01 (Cut): Rustboro City
- Talk to the man inside the Cutter's House, to the left of the Pokemon Center.
- HM02 (Fly): Route 119
- Defeat your rival after completing the Weather Institute side-quest.
- HM03 (Surf): Petalburg City
- Talk to Wally's uncle after beating Norman. He is located in the northwestern house, left of the Gym.
- HM04 (Strength): Rusturf Tunnel
- Given to you by a Black Belt after using Rock Smash to clear the rocks from the middle of Rusturf Tunnel.
- HM05 (Flash): Granite Cave
- Given to you by the Hiker on the first floor of the cave.
- HM06 (Rock Smash): Mauville City
- Talk to the Scientist in the house located to the right of the Pokemon Center.
- HM07 (Waterfall): Sootopolis City
- Given to you by Wallace after awakening Rayquaza.
- HM08 (Dive): Mossdeep City
- Given to you as a present from Steven.
The following is a compendium of items found in Pokemon Emerald that would assist the trainer's Pokemon in battle or help raise their Pokemon.
- Big Pearl
- Route 124: Dive in the southeastern corner southwest of the Hunter's House. Route 105: On the western edge, between two trainers near four trees. Route 126: Dive in the southeastern area, in the middle of a patch of seaweed.
- Blue Shard
- Route 124: On a patch of shallow water in a secluded area surrounded by rocks, the area can only be reached by Diving in cross-shaped patch of water south a stationary male Swimmer located in the middle of route 124. Route 126: Dive in the southwestern edge, in a bare patch in the middle of the seaweed.
- Calcium
- Lilycove Department Store: Purchased on the third floor from the clerk on the left for 9800. Slateport Market: Bought from the Energy Guru for 9800. Battle Froniter: Obtained at the Battle Point Exchange Service Corner for 1 BP.
- Carbos
- Lilycove Department Store: Purchased on the third floor from the clerk on the left for 9800. Slateport Market: Bought from the Energy Guru for 9800. Battle Froniter: Obtained at the Battle Point Exchange Service Corner for 1 BP.
- Choice Band
- Battle Frontier: Can be purchased for 64 BP.
- Dragon Fang
- Meteor Falls: Held by Dragon Tamer Nicolas's Pokemon (Thief needed).
- Everstone
- Granite Cave: Found in the second basement floor, in a smooth rock (Mach Bike needed).
- Exp. Share
- Rustboro City: Given to you by Mr. Stone after delivering his letter to Steven in Granite Cave.
- Green Shard
- Route 124: Next to Lilycove's exit, in an underwater patch on the south. Route 126: In a small cove accessible by diving in a cross-shaped patch next to the Swimmer near the Hunter's House on Route 124.
- Heart Scale
- Lilycove City: Hidden in one of the rocks on the beach. Route 104: In the sand below the two men facing the sea. Route 106: Southeast corner of the sand, near the fisherman. Route 109: In the northeast corner right above the gentleman, on the western side (under a green umbrella), and directly in front of the couple in the southwestern corner of the sandbar. Route 115: In the middle, above the Battle Girl. Route 105: Southwest corner, on the sandbar. Route 118: Southwest corner, left of the Fisherman. Route 124: Dive in the southeastern corner below the Hunter's House and Dive near the center of the route. Route 127: Dive in the southern area, in a rock. Route 128: In the northern portion, directly left of a male Cooltrainer, on an island in the middle of the route (northeast of of a Fisherman), and in the southwestern corner on an island right of a male Triathlete. Route 126: Dive in the northwestern corner, near the end of the underwater channel.
- HP UP
- Lilycove Department Store: Purchased on the third floor from the clerk on the left for 9800. Slateport Market: Bought from the Energy Guru for 9800. Battle Froniter: Obtained at the Battle Point Exchange Service Corner for 1 BP.
- Iron

- SS Tidal: Bottom of the ship, in a trash can. Battle Frontier: Can be purchased for 48 BP.
- Macho Brace
- Route 111: Defeat all four members of the Winstrate family, then go inside and talk to the grandmother.
- Metal Coat
- New Mauville: held by wild Magnemite and wild Magneton.
- Nugget
- Route 113: Northeast corner, left of the Pokemaniac in the ash pile. Fallarbor Town: Southwest corner, in a crater. Route 121: Past the Cuttable tree in the north, by two flowers.
- Pearl
- Route 124: Dive on the eastern edge northwest of the Hunter's House. Route 128: Dive in the middle of the route, northeast of a female Triathlete, it's found in a rock. Route 126: Dive on the western side of the route, north of a female swimmer.
- PP Max
- Magma Hideout: In a small room in the interior of the cave, it will be surrounded by two drills and some other machines. Trick House: Awarded at the completion of the seventh challenge.
- PP Up
- Route 103 East: Located in a winding path, Cut is needed to access it. Route 104 North: Located in a small area surrounded by trees, Surf is needed to reach the area. Route 109: Found on a small island towards the southeast corner of the route. Meteor Falls: In an open area next to a small waterfall. Surf and Waterfall are needed to reach this location. Route 115: Located in front of two trainers facing each other. Route 123: Located amongst some trees near Twins and two other trainers, this section of Route 123 can only be accessed by Surfing past Mt. Pyre. Victory Road: Strength and Rock Smash are needed to access it.
- Protein
- Lilycove Department Store: Purchased on the third floor from the clerk on the left for $9800. Slateport Market: Bought from the Energy Guru for $9800. Battle Froniter: Obtained at the Battle Point Exchange Service Corner for 1 BP.
- Rare Candy
- Route 114: On a piece of land atop a waterfall, Surf and Waterfall will be needed to reach it. Petalburg City: Surf towards the southeast corner of the city. Trick House: Prize for completing first challenge. Route 110: Surf to the small island in the middle of the route. Route 111: On the eastern side of the desert in a rock by a Picnicker. Route 108: South of the Abandoned Ship, in a rock by a female Swimmer. Route 120: Past the Cuttable tree in the northwestern corner, Surf near the southwestern corner. Mt Pyre: The northeastern edge of the peak, in the grass. Route 123: Southeastern corner. Route 132: Ride the currents on the middle to lower side and it will be on one of the islands. Safari Zone: In the northeastern section of the second part, on the ground to the left of one rock and below another. Can also be obtained from Pokemon with the Pick Up ability.
- Red Shard
- Route 124: On a patch of shallow water in a secluded area tat can only be reached by Diving in a cross-shaped patch of dark water located to the left of the island next to the Hunter's House, just north of a female Swimmer. Route 127: Dive in the northeastern corner, left of the Fisherman, in a rock.
- Scope Lens
- Battle Frontier: Can be purchased for 64 BP.
- Shell Bell
- Shoal Cave: Give four Shoal Salts and four Shoal Shells to the old man at the entrance of the cave. Shoal Salts are found during low tide, Shoal Shells during high tide.
- Star Piece
- Route 134: Next to a pair of trainers on an island located in the southern end of the rapids near Slateport City. Route 127: Dive in the western edge, it's hidden in a rock.
- Stardust
- Route 111: In the rock being circled by the Ruin Maniac near the middle. Route 106: Near the center of the route in a rock all by itself. Route 126: Dive in the northeastern corner, northeast of the seaweed.
- Yellow Shard
- Route 124: On a patch of shallow in a secluded area, to reach the area: Dive in the small patch of dark water surrounded by rocks north of the island next to the Hunter's House. Route 126: Dive on the western side, north of a female Swimmer.
- Zinc
- Lilycove Department Store: Purchased on the third floor from the clerk on the left for $9800. Slateport Market: Bought from the Energy Guru for $9800. Battle Froniter: Obtained at the Battle Point Exchange Service Corner for 1 BP.

- Fire Stone
- Fiery Path: At the end of a path blocked by a boulder, Strength is needed to remove the boulder and access the path. Route 124: Diving Treasure Hunter (Trade one Red Shard).
- Leaf Stone
- Route 119: In a small corner amongst a group of skinny trees next to the top of a small waterfall. Route 124: Diving Treasure Hunter (Trade one Green Shard).
- Moon Stone
- Meteor Falls: On the main floor, on top of small plateau next to the waterfall.
- Sun Stone
- Mossdeep City: Received from a Sailor in Mossdeep Space Center. Held by wild Solrock.
- Thunderstone
- New Mauville: Next to the large, red generator. Route 124: Diving Treasure Hunter (Trade one Yellow Shard).
- Water Stone
- Abandoned Ship: Found in Room 3, Dive is required to reach this section of the ship. Route 124: Diving Treasure Hunter (Trade one Blue Shard).
The following is a list of every move tutor available in Pokemon Emerald. Each move tutor, except for the Battle Frontier move tutors, can only teach one of your Pokemon their respective move.
- Double-Edge
- In Sootopolis City's Pokemon Center is a trainer who will teach your Pokemon the move Double-Edge.
- DynamicPunch
- Near Mossdeep City's entrance is a trainer who will be willing to teach your Pokemon the move DynamicPunch.
- Explosion
- In Pacifidlog Town's Pokemon Center is a tutor who will teach the move Explosion to your Pokemon.
- Fury Cutter
- In Verdanturf Town's Pokemon Center is a kid who will teach your Pokemon the move Fury Cutter.
- Metronome
- In Fallarbor Town's PokeMart is a woman who will teach your Pokemon the fancy move Metronome.
- Mimic
- Found in Lavaridge Town is a small boy who will teach your Pokemon the move Mimic.
- Rollout
- Near Mauville City's Gym is a guy who will teach your Pokemon the move Rollout.
- Sleep Talk
- In Fortree City is an old man who will teach your Pokemon the move Sleep Talk.
- Substitute
- On the roof of Lilycove City's Dept. Store is a trainer who will teach your Pokemon the move Substitute.
- Swagger
- In Slateport City's Fan Club is a tutor who will teach your Pokemon the move Swagger.
- Move Tutor
- In Fallarbor Town, there is a man who will teach any of your Pokemon any move that they have forgotten at an expense of one Heart Scale per move.
- The Battle Frontier's Tutors
- After beating the Elite Four and unlocking the Battle Frontier, you will find a house near the Battle Arena with two tutors who will both be able to teach your Pokemon some moves at cost of some Battle Points.
