[OVERVIEW]

Zeraora's insane Speed tier and borderline unblockable Volt Switch make it one of the best offensive pivots in the tier. Its amazing coverage makes it possible to break through every common Electric-immune foe in the tier like Mamoswine, Krookodile, and Rhyperior, and its access to a speedy Knock Off gives it invaluable team support. Its decent power makes it extremely threatening to offensive teams, essentially mandating that those teams employ Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Krookodile in order to be safe against it. It also has a very dangerous Bulk Up set that turns common counterplay like Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu on its head, giving it a layer of unpredictability. It can struggle to break past certain Pokemon depending on which set and coverage it runs, though. For example, its pivot set will never get through the aforementioned Grass-types or Amoonguss, so it can be easy to stop it from wallbreaking throughout a game, but it will still generate momentum against these foes. It can also occasionally struggle to revenge kill threats like Latias and Terrakion from full HP.

[SET COMMENTS]

Plasma Fists is a strong STAB attack that nukes Pokemon weak to it like Primarina and Celesteela while doing good damage to offensive Pokemon that don't resist it. Knock Off cripples answers like Tangrowth, Tapu Bulu, Rhyperior, and Nidoqueen. Close Combat gives Zeraora coverage for Krookodile, the most common Ground-type in the tier, as well as Mamoswine and Rhyperior; Play Rough can be used instead to still hit Krookodile pretty hard while also nuking Kommo-o, though it makes it much harder for Zeraora to revenge kill Terrakion and Kyurem. Blaze Kick is a niche option on teams particularly weak to Scizor, and it comes with the added benefit of doing decent damage to Assault Vest Tangrowth and Amoonguss, making them less reliable counters. It also makes it possible for Zeraora to break through Tapu Bulu, having a good chance to 2HKO offensive variants. Volt Switch allows Zeraora to generate momentum on switch-ins that it can't break past, like Tapu Bulu and Salamence. An Adamant nature is preferred for the increased damage output, since there aren't many foes that outspeed Zeraora either way, but Jolly can be used to outspeed certain niche Pokemon like +1 Adamant Gyarados and Choice Scarf Diggersby, as well as outspeeding opposing Adamant Zeraora. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Zeraora to freely pivot in and out of battle without worrying about entry hazard damage while also giving it an excellent matchup against Sticky Web teams as a bonus.

Zeraora fits on just about any team thanks to how amazing its role compression and utility is, and as a result nearly every Pokemon in the tier makes for a decent partner. It's generally best suited for offensive teams but can also work just fine on bulkier teams that need an effective fast Pokemon and revenge killer but don't want to employ a Choice Scarf user. Victini is an amazing teammate that can incinerate nearly every Pokemon Zeraora baits in and switches out of with Volt Switch like Tangrowth and Amoonguss and creates a pivot core with it, bringing Zeraora in on Pokemon like Chansey and Slowking. Amoonguss and Tangrowth can switch into Zeraora checks like Choice Scarf Krookodile and Tapu Bulu, and both appreciate its ability to check their switch-ins like Latias. Skarmory also checks the aforementioned Pokemon and can provide Spikes support for Zeraora, making it much harder to switch into. Skarmory can also check the Grass-types that Zeraora struggles with. Latias can check these Grass-types and has a useful immunity to Ground, allowing it to check Pokemon like Rhyperior and Nidoqueen for Zeraora. It appreciates Zeraora's ability to bring it in safely via Volt Switch so that it gets opportunities to fire off attacks. Other wallbreakers like Terrakion, Lycanroc-D, and Obstagoon also appreciate Zeraora's Volt Switch support and can weaken checks like Amoonguss and Tapu Bulu for it.

move 4: Blaze Kick / Acrobatics
item: Leftovers / Shuca Berry / Lum Berry
ability: Volt Absorb
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Bulk Up makes Zeraora very difficult to wall after a boost or two. A boosted Plasma Fists is strong enough to blitz through most offensive Pokemon that don't resist it, having a chance to OHKO even Pokemon as bulky as Terrakion after Stealth Rock. Play Rough OHKOes Kommo-o and gives Zeraora a reliable move to hit Latias. It can also KO weakened Pokemon such as Mamoswine, Kyurem, and Krookodile. Blaze Kick does huge damage to Tangrowth, Tapu Bulu, and Amoonguss while also OHKOing Scizor. Close Combat nukes Krookodile after a boost and does a ton of damage to Pokemon like Mamoswine, Kyurem, and Rotom-H. It should be used with Acrobatics alongside a Berry like Shuca Berry, Lum Berry, or Sitrus Berry. Acrobatics hits all of Kommo-o, Latias, Tapu Bulu, and other Grass-types in one slot, making it much easier for Zeraora to choose its coverage, though it comes at the cost of an inconsistent item slot. Grassy Seed can be used on teams with Tapu Bulu alongside Acrobatics to consistently activate Zeraora's item while also giving it a useful Defense boost to set up with. An Adamant nature is chosen because it comes with better chances to KO Pokemon like Krookodile after Stealth Rock and a Bulk Up boost, but Jolly can be used to improve the matchup against opposing Zeraora.

Bulk Up Zeraora fits best on both entry hazard- and dual screens-based hyper offense teams. The former can be accomplished with hazard leads such as Mew and Skarmory, while dual screens can be set up by Grimmsnarl; Alolan Ninetales can also be used to set up Aurora Veil, but Grimmsnarl is generally preferred because the chip damage from Alolan Ninetales's hail can make Zeraora much easier to revenge kill. Alolan Ninetales can give Zeraora setup opportunities with Encore or Hypnosis, though. Partners that can break through the Pokemon this set struggles with depending on its coverage are important; for example, if Zeraora is running Close Combat + Acrobatics, breaking through Latias can be difficult, so partners like Azumarill and Galarian Moltres are helpful to have. They're also good checks to Choice Scarf Krookodile, which is one of the better ways to revenge kill this set if it hasn't accrued a lot of boosts. Tapu Bulu can also switch into Krookodile while potentially giving Zeraora the option to run Grassy Seed. Kommo-o can also take advantage of a Choice-locked Krookodile to set up Clangorous Soul, giving it good synergy with Zeraora by taking advantage of its best revenge killer. Breaking through bulky Ground-types like Nidoqueen can be difficult for this set, so Latias is a helpful partner. The aforementioned Galarian Moltres can also perform this role.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Calm Mind sets with Substitute are plausible but reliant on surprise factor to work, and in a vacuum they are outclassed by Raikou. However, they are much less telegraphed and can thus be effective; a spread of 80 HP / 184 Def / 32 Spe with a Timid nature can be used to outspeed Starmie and Raikou while ensuring that Zeraora's Substitute is not broken by Tangrowth's Knock Off, allowing Zeraora to set up on it. Grass Knot can be used on the pivot set to beat rare switch-ins like Rhyperior, Gastrodon, and Mudsdale but usually isn't worth dropping coverage for. Misty Seed is an option on Bulk Up sets with Misty Surge Galarian Weezing as a partner but is generally not preferred due to Galarian Weezing not being a great Pokemon on offensive teams. Toxic can be used over a coverage move, usually Knock Off, on the pivot set, but it is suboptimal because it leaves Zeraora unable to do anything of note to Amoonguss or Nidoqueen.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Common Ground-types like Krookodile and Nidoqueen are capable of switching into most of Zeraora's attacks and can force it out afterwards, though they don't like losing their item.

**Grass-types**: Tangrowth and Amoonguss permanently wall pivot Zeraora thanks to their great bulk and Regenerator, though it can circumvent this somewhat with Volt Switch. Tapu Bulu is less reliable due to Blaze Kick but is also a fairly good check. They must all be wary of Bulk Up sets, though.

**Dragon-types**: If Zeraora lacks Play Rough, it can struggle to deal with Pokemon like Salamence, Kommo-o, and even certain variants of Latias.

Paragraph 1
Describe what the moves on the set do, as well as alternative options. Describe other aspects of the set such as the EVs and nature/item.

- Plasma Fists is a strong STAB attack that nukes Pokemon like Primarina and Celesteela
- Knock Off cripples answers like Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Rhyperior, and Nidoqueen
- Close Combat gives it coverage for Krookodile, the most common Ground-type in the tier hits mamo as well.
- Play Rough can be used instead to still hit Krook p hard while also nuking Kommo-o and a Latias that has already lost its item among other targets
- Blaze Kick is a niche option on teams particularly weak to Scizor, also gives it a fairly strong hit on Amoonguss and AV Tang does it though? 252 Atk Zeraora Blaze Kick vs. 248 HP / 220+ Def Amoonguss: 156-184 (36.1 - 42.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery / 252 Atk Zeraora Blaze Kick vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Tangrowth: 138-164 (34.1 - 40.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock. i guess you could consider this "fairly strong" but I feel like this should be rephrased.
- Volt Switch makes it pretty much impossible to take advantage of bc none of the grounds can really handle it this information reads a bit repatitively and can be removed or rephrased
- Adamant is preferred for the damage output but Jolly can be used to outspeed certain niche Pokemon like +1 Adamant Gyarados and Choice Scarf Diggersby as well as tying opposing Zeraora you can also rephrase this. if adamant is the preferred nature then you'd run jolly to speed creep adamant.
- Boots make it able to pivot in and out freely without worrying about hazards, also lets it destroy Webs teams

Paragraph 2
Describe some teammates that would be a good idea to pair with this Pokemon to help it fulfil its role.

- Fits on just about anything thanks to how amazing its role compression and utility is, as a result basically every Pokemon in the tier is a good partner but some are more effective than others
- Generally best suited for offensive teams but can also work just fine on fatter teams that need an effective Speed control solution and revenge killer but don't want to employ a Choice Scarf user
- Victini is an amazing teammate that can destroy pretty much everything Zeraora volts on and creates a pivot core with it
- Amoonguss and Tangrowth can switch into Zeraora checks like Choice Scarf Krookodile and Tapu Bulu
- Terrakion appreciates its Volt Switch support bringing it in freely and can pressure shared checks like Amoonguss really easily
- Latias can take advantage of Grasses and acts as a helpful Ground immunity to account for Zera's one weakness
- Can become an absolute nightmare to handle with Spikes up, Skarmory is a good partner as a result and can also nullify the Grasses entirely if it watches out for sleep moves skarm can also switch into scarf krook.

- Bulk Up makes Zeraora really, really hard to wall
- Boosted Plasma Fists is strong enough to blitz through most offensive Pokemon that don't resist it - can OHKO Terrakion after rocks, does tons to Jirachi and Victini etc.
- Close Combat nukes Krookodile and does a ton to Pokemon like Mamoswine, Kyurem, Rotom-H - also does respectable damage to stuff like Kommo-o if not running Acro/PR
- Blaze Kick does huge damage to the Grasses and also OHKOs Scizor and does extra damage Jirachi
- Play Rough OHKOs Kommo-o and gives Zeraora a reliable move to hit Latias. Can also KO weakened Pokemon that you miss out on by running PR over CC like Mamoswine, Kyurem etc.
- Acrobatics can be used over Blaze Kick alongside a Berry like Shuca Berry, Lum Berry, or Sitrus Berry. Each has their own advantages and Acrobatics combines a lot of the good parts of the other moves, hitting all of Kommo-o, Latias, the Grasses etc. in one slot and making it much easier for Zeraora to choose its coverage, though it comes at the cost of either running no item or not being entirely consistent

- Choice Band is a strong wallbreaker but taking rocks damage is cringe
misty seed with weezing as an alternative to the bu set can be mentioned here, the spdef boost makes you even more obnoxious to kill with bu.
you can also add a toxic mention, it cripples some of its checks but doesn't hit amoonguss or nidoqueen.

- Struggles with breaking through fat grasses without setup moves and is often restricted to being a Volt + Knock bot would try and connect the bulk up point to this perhaps, considering these sets can turn the grass matchups on their head, especially if acro + lum.

- Plasma Fists is a strong STAB attack that nukes Pokemon like Primarina and Celesteela
- Knock Off cripples answers like Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Rhyperior, and Nidoqueen i'd probably want a bulu mention here over like maybe amoong? since losing helmet isn't rly crippling it, feel free to replace whatever or just keep as is though.
- Close Combat gives it coverage for Krookodile, the most common Ground-type in the tier, as well as Mamoswine and Rhyperior when you write this up i'd probably make the comparison between cc and play rough against terrakion, cc doing like 33% more damage and not missing being pretty important in terms of revenging it since it'll basically near guarantee drop after a single round of LO.
- Play Rough can be used instead to still hit Krook p hard while also nuking Kommo-o and a Latias that has already lost its item among other targets
- Blaze Kick is a niche option on teams particularly weak to Scizor, also gives it a fairly strong hit on Amoonguss and AV Tang again would like to see bulu mentioned here, its much more relevant for bulu than these honestly given you barely 2hko amoong and it has regen, while blaze has a solid chance to 2HKO more offensive bulu's depending on spreads and is much more punishing to switch into overall cause no regen. (guaranteed vs a 0 bulk bulu, guaranted after rocks vs 210 Speed non lefties Bulu).
- Volt Switch makes it pretty much impossible to take advantage of bc none of the common grounds can really handle it
- Adamant is preferred for the damage output but Jolly can be used to outspeed certain niche Pokemon like +1 Adamant Gyarados and Choice Scarf Diggersby as well as speed creeping opposing Adamant Zeraora

- Terrakion appreciates its Volt Switch support bringing it in freely and can pressure shared checks like Amoonguss really easily
- Latias can take advantage of Grasses and acts as a helpful Ground immunity to account for Zera's one weakness maybe specify like Nidoqueen when you talk about this since its not a krook switch in or anything.
- Can become an absolute nightmare to handle with Spikes up, Skarmory is a good partner as a result and can also nullify the Grasses entirely if it watches out for sleep moves nullify might not be the best description, maybe you could comment on how it not only nullifies them but abuses them for free spikes after a sleep fodder instead? also that it checks basically every single bulu set on the planet is great mnetion too since cb and just offensive bulu in general is scary to switch into if zeraora gives it a free turn. and it switches into Choice Scarf Krookodile

Don't like these slash orders personally, kind of suggests that Blaze Kick + Close Combat is the ideal combination when this leaves you pretty vulnerable to Lati + Clanger, especially on hazards based instead of screens where they can easily kill you with some chip or the -1spdef from cc in clangs case, should probably put play rough first to match up, which also makes cc + acro appear as the correct acro pairing nicely.

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
Describe what the moves on the set do, as well as alternative options. Describe other aspects of the set such as the EVs and nature/item.

- Bulk Up makes Zeraora really, really hard to wall
- Boosted Plasma Fists is strong enough to blitz through most offensive Pokemon that don't resist it - can OHKO Terrakion after rocks, does tons to Jirachi and Victini etc.
- Close Combat nukes Krookodile and does a ton to Pokemon like Mamoswine, Kyurem, Rotom-H - also does respectable damage to stuff like Kommo-o if not running Acro/PR Mention the Ada vs Jolly somewhere when you write up, mentioning this here because Ada ties into the CC point, as it makes it near guaranteed OHKO on krook after rocks after a bulk up and intim. On other hand jolly is nice because you get a bulk up first against opposing ada zeraora or tie with jolly ones.
Talking speifically about how lum lets you set up against amoong/tang and absorb the knock/sleep and risk switching into or setting up against scald users in partiular would be worthwhile, dont think u rly needa say what sitrus does and can just give an example with shuca like how it helps with revenge scarf krook or something.
- Grassy Seed can be used on Tapu Bulu teams alongside Acrobatics to consistently pop Zeraora's item while also giving it a useful Defense boost to set up with

Paragraph 2
Describe some teammates that would be a good idea to pair with this Pokemon to help it fulfil its role.

- Fits best on hazard-based HOs but also does pretty well on Screens would just say that it fits very well on both, i don't rly think its necessarily fitting on either of them better than the other.
- Hazard leads such as Mew or ALOLAN SANDSLASH!!! pair very well with it :pikuh:
- If using Screens, Grimmsnarl is generally preferred bc the hail chip from Alolan Ninetales's Snow Warning can make it way easier to revenge kill Zeraora i'd probalby still mention snowtales and how it can give set up opportunities with encore and hypnosis personally.
- Partners that can break through the Pokemon this set struggles with depending on its coverage are important
- For example, if running CC + Acrobatics, breaking through Latias can be difficult, so partners like Azumarill and Galarian Moltres are good
- They're also good checks to Choice Scarf Krookodile which is one of the better ways to revenge kill this set if it hasn't accrued a lot of boosts. if ur cc then its more likely to be because you've been chipped into EQ range / lariat range than that you don't have a lot of boosts, because you only need one to guarantee the cc kill when factoring in intim. this is more relevant for blaze kick + play rough though. Other checks that fit on offense teams include Pokemon like Tapu Bulu and Kommo-o clang not rly a krook switch in like this sort of implies in a way especially when comparing to bulu, probably more worth talking about how like clang soul clanger / goltres etc set up on a choice locked krook that revenes zeraora in this section to explain the synergy here and how they can severely punish zeraora's best revenge killer on HO.
- Breaking through bulky Ground-types like Nidoqueen can be difficult so Latias is a helpful partner itself

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

=============

- Calm Mind sets with Substitute are plausible but reliant on surprise factor to work, outclassed by Raikou in a vacuum Mentioned on disc but when you write up i'd reverrse the ordering here to say that while in a vacuum Raikou outclasses due to better spa and marginally better bulk and access to scald, in reality SubCM Zeraora is fairly effective because it doesn't signpost its set at all compared to Raikou, so you are far far more likely to catch amoong/tang switch ins, and its extra speed means it can actually invest in bulk to a degree while still outspeeding Base 115s (Base 110s if you want to go even lower) and kind of match Kous bulk.

If you want to mention some EV spreads here: 80 HP 184 Def 32 Spe Timid lets you creep Raikou/Starmie, lets your sub tank a tang knock guaranteed and take a giga at +1 spdef from tang, can run 0 Spe too to still creep lati (non timid natures end up with worse overall spreads iirc even with the unecessary extra +2 in speed you end up with due to massive speed stat compared to spa if running modest).

- Grass Knot can be used on the pivot set to beat rare switch-ins like Rhyperior, Gastrodon, and Mudsdale but usually isn't worth dropping coverage for
- Choice Band is a strong wallbreaker but taking rocks damage is cringe Wouldn't bother mentioning this personally cause rocks = unpog and ur still gonna have to get like blaze kick right vs grasses and not even kill them while taking rocks everytime u hit them.
- Misty Seed is an option on Bulk Up sets with Misty Surge Galarian Weezing as a partner but is generally not preferred due to Galarian Weezing not being a great Pokemon in the meta would rephrase this to just say that misty surge weezing on offense aren't good, defensive weezing is pretty fine still on fat shit for like azu, conk, rak etc.
- Toxic can be used over a coverage move, usually Knock Off, on the pivot set but it sucks bc it can't do anything to Amoonguss or Nidoqueen you could say that this is aceptable with Chansey as a teammate specifically though, since its a great answer to both of these (simiarily chansey definitely allows combos like cc + play rough, cc/play rough + blaze kick without knock if u wanted to mention that earlier too, but its pretty specific case).

Plasma Fists is a strong STAB attack that nukes Pokemon weak to it like Primarina and Celesteela, while doing good damage to offensive Pokemon that don't resist it. Knock Off cripples answers like Tangrowth, Tapu Bulu, Rhyperior, and Nidoqueen. Close Combat gives Zeraora coverage for Krookodile, the most common Ground-type in the tier, as well as Mamoswine and Rhyperior, but Play Rough can be used instead to still hit Krookodile pretty hard while also nuking Kommo-o, though it makes it much harder for Zeraora to revenge kill Terrakion. Might be hard to slot it in but Kyurem is a big one that CC helps with. An Adamant nature is preferred for the increased damage output since there aren't many things that outspeed Zeraora either way, but Jolly can be used to outspeed certain niche Pokemon like +1 Adamant Gyarados and Choice Scarf Diggersby, as well as speed creeping opposing Adamant Zeraora. Heavy-Duty Boots are used to allow Zeraora to freely pivot in and out of battle without worrying about entry hazard damage, while also giving it an excellent matchup against Sticky Web teams as a bonus.

Victini is an amazing teammate that can incinerate nearly every Pokemon Zeraora baits in with Volt Switch like Tangrowth and Amoonguss and creates a pivot core with it, bringing Zeraora in on Pokemon like Chansey and Slowking. Amoonguss and Tangrowth can switch into Zeraora checks like Choice Scarf Krookodile and Tapu Bulu and both appreciate its ability to check their switch-ins like Latias.

Bulk Up makes Zeraora very difficult to wall after a boost or two. A boosted Plasma Fists is strong enough to blitz through most offensive Pokemon that don't resist it, having a chance to OHKO even Pokemon as bulky as Terrakion after Stealth Rock. Play Rough OHKOs Kommo-o and gives Zeraora a reliable move to hit Latias. It should be used alongside Acrobatics alongside a berry Berry like Shuca Berry, Lum Berry, or Sitrus Berry. An Adamant nature is chosen since it has better chances to KO Pokemon like Krookodile after Stealth Rock and a Bulk Up boost, but Jolly can be used to improve the matchup against opposing Zeraora.

Bulk Up Zeraora fits best on both entry hazard-based hyper offense teams and dual screens-based hyper offense teams. The former can be accomplished with hazard leads such as Mew or Skarmory, while dual screens can be set up by Grimmsnarl; Alolan Ninetales can also be used to set up Aurora Veil, but Grimmsnarl is generally preferred because the hail chip from Alolan Ninetales's Snow Warning can make Zeraora much easier to revenge kill. They're also good checks to Choice Scarf Krookodile which is one of the better ways to revenge kill this set if it hasn't accrued a lot of boosts.

Toxic can be used over a coverage move, usually Knock Off, on the pivot set but it sucks bc because it can't do anything to Amoonguss or Nidoqueen.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Common Ground-types like Krookodile and Nidoqueen are capable of switching into most of Zeraora's attacks and can force it out afterwards, though they don't like losing their item

They must all be wary of Bulk Up sets though

**Dragon-types**: If Zeraora lacks Play Rough, it can struggle to deal with Pokemon like Salamence, Kommo-o, or even certain variants of Latias

Zeraora's insane Speed tier and borderline unblockable Volt Switch make it one of the best offensive pivots in the tier. Its amazing coverage makes it possible to break through every common Electric immunity Electric-immune foe in the tier like Mamoswine, Krookodile, and Rhyperior, and its access to a speedy Knock Off gives it invaluable team support. Make no mistake, though; Zeraora is absolutely one of the most threatening Pokemon UU has to offer.
