Zarude has swag, and not just from its cape in Dada form, but also being one of the most unlikely threats in the Ubers metagame, taking down many staples in incredible fashion. Its Dark typing and Special Defense investment make it a good Calyrex-S switch-in, walling Psyshock and taking Astral Barrage decently well. The Grass typing is also great for letting it check Kyogre, Groudon, and Zygarde well. Bulk Up and Jungle Healing turn Zarude into a great sweeper, able to set up on even super effective hits like Ho-Oh's Sacred Fire with the high PP of Jungle Healing and enough Defense boosts. This move combination also checks Zygarde, with Darkest Lariat breaking through Coil sets. Power Whip threatens Kyogre and Groudon, which the Speed EVs let it outrun. Zarude has average stats in an Ubers landscape, though, so Pokemon it checks like Calyrex-S and Kyogre can still overwhelm it with Nasty Plot sets and Ice Beam, respectively. Ho-Oh and Eternatus pivot into Calyrex-S and Kyogre, respectively. Yveltal also appreciates Zarude's ability to check Calyrex-S and Groudon, letting it run an offensive set with Life Orb or Black Glasses.
