!Hola Smogonites!

I'm new to team-building (though not new to battling) so any constructive criticism or advice would be well appreciated.
Keep in mind that this team is meant to win battles late through stalls and double switching!

1.) Charizard

Though for the most part I prefer Charizard's other mega, YZard is a great wallbreaker who fits well on the team.

Dovah (Charizard) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Air Slash
- Dragon Pulse/Focus Blast
- Flamethrower
- SolarBeam

The set seems to be standard on Yzard. I have Dragon Pulse instead of Focus Blast for Garchomp and other Zards, though I'm not sure if this is best. Obvious threats include Excadrill or anything else that carries a rock type move. I use Dovah as the nickname to bait out EQs from those who think it's an Xzard.

2.) Excadrill

A 5th gen favorite, Excadrill is quite a versatile poke who often surprises opponents expecting to see the standard SR/spin set. I run scarf because I needed a scarfer and I'm bored of Lando-T.

Lagann (Excadrill) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin
Mold Breaker is the best ability to hit confident Latis, Washing Machines, or Gengars that try to switch in. Decent coverage with EQ/Slide. Iron head for fairies. Rapid spin was a tough choice. I toyed with the idea of toxic instead, but needed a spinner for my Charizard. The use of clearing is difficult on him so I'd like to find another solution. Good weakness/resistance synergy with Charizard.

3.) Clefable

My personal favorite fairy, Clefable provides a great bulky setup sweeper with only two weaknesses and a myriad of resistances. This set isn't mine, I saw it whilst in a battle and decided to incorporate it into a team.

Sandra (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower/???
Magic Guard is a must have, allows for much easier setup. I'm unsure about the EV spread with Clefable. Is it better to have greater physical bulk or more attacking power? Flamethrower for coverage on annoying steel types, but I'd like to explore other options. Synergistic with Excadrill and seems to just confuse players.

4.) Chansey

Chansey_by_Xous54.png

Eviolite Chansey is insanely bulky on the special side and can take one or two physical hits as well. Good for removing annoying status conditions on my offensive pokes, and enables great endgame stall.

Blob 2 (Chansey) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Aromatherapy
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss

Nothing out of the ordinary, just a Chansey set. Obvious threats are physical fighting type attacks. I find it worth it to invest fully in physical defense.

5.) Slowbro

I'm waiting in fervent anticipation for the day I can use Mega-Slowbro, but for now I'll have to settle with the normal version. Slowbro is another pokemon with a variety of sets, but this one seems to work the best for me.

Mega-Slowpoke (Slowbro) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Slack Off
- Scald
- Psychic
- Toxic/Thunder Wave

It takes most physical hits like a god and can switch out to heal thanks to regenerator. The issue of Toxic or T-wave is difficult for me to decide. I primarily use Toxic, but would like to hear more opinions on the matter. Greninja checks this far too well, as does Latios.

6.) Breloom

Shiny_Breloom_V2_0_by_ArmiesAgainstMe.jpg

Among my favorite Gen 3 pokes, Breloom holds his own amazingly well in the meta. The little shroom packs a punch and can deliver 100% accuracy sleep.

Psilocybin (Breloom) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Rock Tomb
- Spore

I've opted for the technician set instead of poison heal or sub/punch because it works better on my team. Spore Mach punch and Bullet seed are must haves, while rock tomb helps me catch a stray talonflame or Zard on the switch. Fairly confident with the little broom! Countered by Fastfrog and fire. My team's answer for Azumarill.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! I would love any comments about moves/evs/abilities , or new pokemon entirely! NAMASTE

Hello!

i'm not as expert as other in this forum, and my english isn't so good, but i would like to say a something about your team!

First ,

Charizard got 297 standard HP.
With your actual set up he is going to lose the 50% of damage with stealth rock, since you used the last 4 evs pooint on HP and he actually got 298 hp.
i would suggest to use the last 4 evs for something else, like defense.

Slowbro could get thunder wave , so Chansey could get wish.
I know this possibility isn't listed on your team, but i think with this you could get the chance to "wish pass" in some occasione which could be useful.

Personally i would change the item on breloom with a possible life orb or expert belt just to increase his damage, but not a necessary change imho.

I hope to have been clear!

Have a nice day!

Not sure about "semi-stall" as this leans towards more bulky offense to me lol.

Anyways, Flamethrower is a near must on CM Clef as it allows you to muscle past Ferrothorn.

Next, I'd run 4 Def > 4 HP on YZard to minimize SR damage. I'm also not sure about Air Slash, as Mega Venusaur and AV Conkeldurr (only relevant Fighting type to hit with Air Slash IMO) are both still 2HKOd by Flamethrower under the sun. I do suggest trying out Fire Blast though, as the increase in power is HUGE especially under sun. Accuracy is meh, but it's still worth the use.

The choice between Focus Blast or Dragon Pulse is really up to you. If you feel like Heatran / TTar are problems, then run Focus Blast (Heatran is cleanly 2HKOd while TTar has a 6.3% chance to be OHKOd). Dragon Pulse actually hits some important targets like Chomp and XZard as you mentioned in the OP. However, I think that nailing Garchomp is easier said than done and requires good prediction as Chomp is fast as hell. I do see that you have Clef and Excadrill who can both check Heatran / TTar to some extent, so I think you can afford to run Dragon Pulse.

I'd also suggest running 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef on Chansey. You're not running Wish anyways, so the extra HP won't be missed as Chansey has naturally high HP. Max SDef with Eviolite allow you to take special hits better for Slowbro.

That concludes my lengthy rate. Good luck with your team!!

Thanks for all the suggestions! Will change to Fire Blast and Roost on Yzard as well as EVs. Chansey doesn't seem to be able to use wish on the team builder :(.

i reccomend changing your zard-y set to

Fire Blast /Solarbeam/fire blast/roost

it is liike other suggestions, but i beieve it provides the most coverage and versitility of the sets i can think ove

I agree with others that air slash is useless, but I would personally recommend running dragon pulse over it. It depends on your play style of course, and if the recovery is needed, then run roost by all means. However, running both dragonpulse/focus miss/fireblast/solarbeam means that charizard has very little in the ways of actual counters.
