Wigglytuff Analysis (QC 0/3)

Smogon Wigglytuff Analysis

Overview

-Wigglytuff is one of the most versatile Pokemon in PU, with access to moves like Heal Bell, Stealth Rock, Wish (with an excellent HP stat to boot), Magic Coat, Thunder Wave, and both Reflect and Light Screen.

-Wigglytuff does not perfectly fit as a wall, due to the other defensive stats not giving it that much bulk, and Wigglytuff has a lack of a self healing move outside of Wish.

-Wigglytuff also has a lot of decent offensive moves, but the stats are a bit on the low side and Wigglytuff is a bit too slow to revenge kill, but if Wigglytuff takes a hit, the Wigglytuff can fight back with a strong Hyper Voice or Dazzling Gleam.

Too Tuff to Handle

Item: Leftovers

EVs: 252HP/128Def/124SpD/4SpA

Ability: Frisk

Nature: Bold

Item: Leftovers

  • - Wish

  • - Thunder Wave/Toxic

  • - Dazzling Gleam/Hyper Voice

  • - Perish Song/Stealth Rock/Heal Bell
Moves

-Wish is one of the best moves for Wigglytuff to use, as if used on a safe switch, you can often time heal a sweeper Pokemon or another powerful Pokemon by a huge amount.

-The option of Thunder Wave or Toxic would ultimately depend on your strategy. Thunder Wave can take down various fast foes to make it easier for slower wallbreakers like Rampardos to take them out. Toxic is better used on a staller set where you want to take time to weaken your opponent’s Pokemon, and not take them out quickly.

-Hyper Voice and Dazzling Gleam are both excellent STAB moves for Wigglytuff, with Hyper Voice having more power, but Dazzling Gleam has more coverage.

-The final move is really dependent on what the strategy is.
-Perish Song can help force a switch out on any set-up sweeper or any Pokemon that can otherwise be a massive threat to your strategy.
-Stealth Rock is an excellent move to weaken down various Pokemon, making them easier to take out with Wallbreakers and Sweepers.
-Heal Bell cures your Pokemon of any Special Condition that would otherwise harm them, including Paralyze, Poison, and Sleep.

Set Details

Running 252 EVs in HP helps pass big Wishes. The mixed EVs (128 on Def and 124 on SpD) is to help take on various hits, and allow Wigglytuff to be able to set up various moves. The 4 remaining EVs on SpA help Hyper Voice/Dazzling Gleam help deal decent damage to the opposing Pokemon.

Usage Tips

-Use the status move on a Pokemon that you deem worthy of it when they switch in.
-If you run Perish Song, only use it on a Sweeper that will otherwise wreck your team.
-When Wishing, always consider the Pokemon you wish to heal via Wish and the opponent’s Pokemon in question. One mistake and the Wish will end up becoming null in the end.

Team Options

-Any Fighting-type Pokemon like Machoke are excellent partners with Wigglytuff, as they help deal with Steel types that would otherwise be a huge problem to Wigglytuff, as well as be able to take a hit in the case of wanting to pass a Wish on.
-This set does not work on Hyper-Offense teams, as this set would only slow them down, but Defensive and Balanced teams will welcome this Wigglytuff set with opens arms.

Dual Screen

Item: Light Clay

Nature: Calm

EVs: 252HP, 128Def, 128 SpD

Wish

Reflect

Light Screen

Hyper Voice/Dazzling Gleam

Moves

Light Screen and Reflect can help Wigglytuff and its allies take hits from stronger Pokemon. Wish helps heal Pokemon, and with the screens, that Pokemon can easily take a hit, making the “Wish come true”. In case offense is needed, Hyper Voice or Dazzling Gleam can provide that offense.

Set Details

252 EVs in HP is use to get the most out of Wigglytuff’s wishing. The 128EVs in SpD and Def can help WIgglytuff bulk out some big hits, which in turn can work great with Light Screen and Reflect. The Light Clay item helps Reflect and Light Screen last on the battlefield much longer.

Usage Tips

When is switch is predicted, set up Reflect or Light Screen depending on the Pokemon that can be seen as threats on the offensive spectrum.

Team Options

Bulky attackers like Machoke, Rampardos, and Rotom-Frost can benefit from Reflect and Light Screen, helping them stay on the battlefield a lot longer, and can possibly force swtches for Pokemon that can otherwise be a threat to Wigglytuff.

Competitive Tuff Specs

Item: Choice Specs

Ability: Competitive

Nature: Modest

EVs: 248HP, 252SpA, 8SpD

-Hyper Voice

-Dazzling Gleam

-Focus Blast

-Psychic

Moves

Hyper Voice and Dazzling Gleam are the powerful STAB moves that Wigglytuff has access to. Focus Blast helps take down Steel-types predicted on a switch in, and Psychic helps take down Poison types that Wigglytuff may have a difficult time taking down.

Set Details

252 EVs in SpA and Choice Specs help Wigglytuff have a high enough Special attack to take down powerful Pokemon on a consistent basis. The Competitive Ability gives a +2 in Special Attack if any stat is lowered, which helps deter Defog users and Intimidate users that would be often times used. The Choice Specs item helps increase Wigglytuff's Special Attack stat, which can turn Wigglytuff into a massive threat, before or after a Competitive Ability.

Team Options

Entry hazard users like Golem and Glalie can help Wigglytuff get those crucial KOs that would otherwise likely miss out on. Sticky Web users like Levanny can slow down opposing Pokemon to help Wigglytuff outspeed Pokemon in the same speed tier as Wigglytuff (and Wigglytuff is in a low Speed tier).

Usage tips

Only use Focus Blast on Steel type Pokemon as Focus Blast is the only move in Wigglytuff’s arsenal that can take out Steel-type Pokemon, and the PP on Focus Blast is limited. Switching Wigglytuff in on a Defog user can quickly make Wigglytuff into a massive threat due to the Competitive ability.

Other Options

Wigglytuff’s versatile movepool allows for a lot of options, including Disable which can stop Set-up Sweepers after they use a move once.

Checks and Counters

Steel-types: Any Steel type like Pawniard and Bastiodon resist both of Wigglytuff’s STAB moves and can deal a lot of damage back to Wigglytuff.

Special Conditions: A Wigglytuff without Heal Bell or without a partner with Heal Bell/Aromatherapy can do a lot of damage to Wigglytuff without even attacking it.

Wallbreakers: Wigglytuff, despite its bulk in HP, a Wallbreaker with a Poison or Steel type attack can easily take out Wigglytuff.

Hi MystMotone101 , welcome to Smogon.

Currently the analysis is in an incorrect format, so please change the formatting to look at this: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/the-new-analysis-formatting-guide.3537802/
Additionally the sets you have are unviable or outclassed, and since Wigglytuff isn't a very good Pokemon it only has one niche, being Competitive + Stealth Rock, so QC think this should be the only set:
[SET]
name: Offensive Stealth Rock
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Hyper Voice
move 3: Dazzling Gleam
move 4: Focus Blast / Fire Blast
item: Leftovers
ability: Competititve
nature: Modest
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
