Moves
========
  • Fairy STAB is great in general, and even though Whimiscott only has 77 base SpA, when invested moonblast is decently difficult to switch into.
  • Whimsicott is great switch into bulky waters and can threaten them with STAB grass moves. Giga Drain is the first option as it has the added effect of healing, which is useful, since it will be the only way of increasing its longevity. Energy Ball is the more powerful option, but loses the added healing effect. U-Turn is also great for momentum gain, and works great with the next move, encore.
  • Prankster + Encore has amazing synergy. Whimsicott works very well with it too, as it shuts down set up sweepers, as well as any support mons. Whimsicott can beats a lot of the common Stealth Rock setters, and can switch into the rocks, and threaten the setter out with encore (This is where U-Turn would be effective)
  • Memento is put in the last slot for the effect it has when paired with the Darkinium Z, giving the switched in pokemon its health fully restored, as well as lowering the opponents Att and SpA by 2 stages.

Set Details
========
  • Maximum Speed allows it to outspeed a healthy chunk of the tier, and most importantly, Sneasel, who it can revenge kill, and switch into Knock offs with ease (but not Ice Moves!!)
  • Max SpA allows it to be decently hard to switch into, as well as picking up some important K.O's, on Mons like, Honchkrow, Tyrantrum, Sneasel, Kommo-o, Pangoro, and Zoroark. Also has a chance to K.O some of the thretening pokemon like Noivern, Flygon, and Heracross.
  • Darkinium Z is used to give a Pokemon a second chance, as paired with Memento, also harshly lowers both Att and SpA of the oppoenet, giving a sweeper a easy time to set up.

Usage Tips
========
  • Bring Whimsicott in on predicted set up/Status move to threaten the encore, then throw out a "strong" attack or U-Turn (If U-Turn is on the set)
  • Use Z-Memento when all the proper threats are taken care of so the sweeper on the team can set up with ease. Memento will almost always guarantee at least one turn of set up as it harshly lowered the opponents att and SpA.
Team Options

  • Any set up sweeper appreciates Whimsicotts ability to heal them back to full, and also harshly lower the opponents Att and SpA, so Pokemon like:
  • SD Heracross, who will also get the Flame Orb to activate without the fear of being heavily damaged
  • SD Doublade easier set up potential
  • Venusaur, on sun teams this is the main sweeper, and getting a free +2 with +2 Speed is a real threat towards most teams
  • Durant can get a free Hone Claws, ensuring all of its moves will land, with a +1 Att as well
  • Dragon Dancers like Flygon and Tyrantrum work very well, as they have some natural bulk too back up set up on numerous occasions
  • Hazard removers like Mantine, Gligar, Dhelmise can keep hazards of the field ensuring Whimsicott to stay alive longer, and not have to prematurely Memento.

Moves
========

  • Encore lets Whimiscott lock its opponents into unwanted moves, like set up or status, or even hazards, and makes the opponent play a different style, or forcing them to make a switch, in fear of Whimsicott coming in.
  • U-turn forms a great core with Encore, as the opponent will likely switch after being locked into a move they don't want to be.
  • Moonblast is an all around great move to have, as it has high base power, and even uninvested, can OHKO pokemon weak to it like Sharpedo, and OHKO tyrantrum after rocks.
  • Tailwind is nice to double your team speed for 4 turns after it was used. This is a nice suicide option if you know Whimsicott will go down, or you can pivot into a mon that would like having their speed doubled with U-turn. Memento can also be used here paired with the Darkinium Z to let some set up mons be fully restored (HP wise) and harshly lower both the Att and SpA of the opponent.

Set Details
========

  • The EVs here are used to maximize Whimsicotts physical defense, as its typing lets it switch into Pokemon like Herracross, Zoroark, Feraligatr, Flygon, etc... All of which are physical attackers (Though Zoroark can run a special set too).
  • An alternative spread can be 248 HP / 148 Def / 112 Spe bold nature to let Whimsicott outspeed max speed Jolly Heracross, as uninvested Moonblast can 2HKO Herracross (0 SpA Whimsicott Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Heracross: 174-206 (57.8 - 68.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO).
  • Leftovers are used just to give Whimsicott some recovery, as it will be its only form of recovery without Giga Drain or Leech Seed.
  • Darkinium Z can be used to give Whimsicott the one time Z Memento, to let it fully restore the HP of a teammate, but without the Leftovers, Whimsicott will get worn down easily.

Usage Tips
========

  • Whimsicott should come in on the likes of a Pokemon who will use a Status or set up, to use or threaten to lock them in with Encore, then U-turn out on whatever is switching in.
  • Use Tailwind when Whimsicott needs a good suicide option to double your teams speed for 4 turns (Z Memento works pretty much the same way in the case of suicide option).
  • Whimsicott should always come in on the Pokemon it checks, such as Herracross, Flygon, Physical Zoroark (Scout for Flamethrower) Feraligatr, Kommo-o, etc...

List some options for the Pokemon user that are plausible but not always recommended due to either being not consistent enough or too outclassed by other Pokemon in the metagame.
