Whimsicott is a unique and effective pivot option for Grass teams by virtue of its Prankster ability and many viable support moves. U-turn provides Whimsicott with a means to pivot into another teammate in order to maintain momentum. Alternatively, Knock Off can be used over U-turn to take advantage of Encore forcing switches by providing important item removal. The given EV spread makes Whimsicott as fast as possible while maximizing the damage of its Moonblast, letting it 2HKO Mega Sableye and Mandibuzz, and OHKO pokemon like Iron Valiant. Heavy-Duty Boots allows Whimsicott to switch in several times per match without being worn down by entry hazards. Ferrothorn is an excellent partner, since its Steel typing lets it wall Poison- and Steel-type attacks that threaten Whimsicott, and its entry hazards also pair well with Whimsicott's ability to force switches. Celebi is an excellent partner for Whimsicott thanks to its ability to threaten Poison and Steel teams that can make Whimsicott's opportunities to switch in very limited. Ogerpon-C benefits greatly from Whimsicott clearing away hazards so that it can make use of Sturdy to tank a hit it otherwise can't, and it appreciates Encore to help create setup opportunities. A Sunny Day set with Heat Rock can turn Whimsicott into a makeshift sun setter for teams that utilize Chlorophyll sweepers like Venusaur, Hisuian Lilligant, and Scovillain.
