Watched a few eps of Great Pretender today, was pretty good. I find it funny that basically any Japanese media inspired off American aesthetics is about crime.

I learnt that the Japanese word for rubbernecking is 野次馬 yajiuma which literally means "Wild Next Horse" but seems to be etymologically unrelated.

I'm playing Nier Automata in Japanese. I like the Japanese voices more than the Dub. Most English dubs are dogshit anyway.

Saw the first use of the "reaper opening multiple doors" meme image on Japanese Twitter with like 10k retweets. I think this could be the start of a Great Meme Crossover.

Just binged all of the great pretender. Great anime about conmen. Reminds me a lot of an Argentinean show about robin-hood like conmen I watched as a kid called "Los Simuladores". I'm sure there's an English sub lying around somewhere, strong recommend.

Learned a few new words too. そばだつsobadatsu means "To Peak" or "To tower over" seems to just be a less common synonym of そびえるsobieru. They've both got a bunch of different kanji but none of them seem to be common. It's a shame too. そびえるsobieru has a really good kanji.
