SV OU Waterpon Chip-Down Hyper-Offense

Hi, all! I'm back again after a little bit to this RMT thread with a chip-down hyper-offense team I built that is designed to have multiple threatening physical setup sweepers to overwhelm and break down common checks to them, like Skarmory and Dondozo. Here's the import link: https://pokepast.es/4b9817db182fa2ed

Without further ado, let's get into the team.
:sv/Glimmora:
Glimmora @ Focus Sash
Ability: Toxic Debris
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Mortal Spin
- Mud Shot
- Power Gem
Glimmora is used over Deo-S here because it can get up hazards against opposing lead matchups that are unfavorable with its ability. It's the classic set with Rocks and Mortal Spin but with Mud Shot over Earth Power because it basically does the same thing against the mons Earth Power is supposed to hit, but it slows down enemies, which can be useful to stop something like an opposing Boulder Lead, or open up an Encore from Waterpon to start setting up. Overall I feel like the power trade is worth it for the extra utility it provides.

:sv/Ogerpon-Wellspring:
Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Encore
- Power Whip
This set is a really, really good wallbreaker against balance and stall. It will get revenged, but it will almost certainly take down something with it. It has really good power with SD, really nice coverage with Power Whip to hit Dondozo, (which this set 1v1s easily) and encore is extremely good to not only shut down and beat walls like Dondozo, (which you can encore them into something like sleep talk) and Skarmory (which can be encored into ID), it also can just provide good utility and oppurtunities to setup overall, and can make opponents wary of attempting to setup on Waterpon. For example, one game I encored someone's H-samu into Aqua Jet and wreaked havoc. Overall it is extremely good at eliminating Dondozo and Skarmory to open up paths for the other sweepers on our team.

:sv/Iron Valiant:
Iron Valiant @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Close Combat
- Spirit Break
Valiant is very dangerous with its high speed and good coverage with Knock, CC and Spirit Break. With a Booster Speed Iron Valiant becomes very fast and can revenge threats like dragapult and Meowscarada for this team. With SD and a physical set it can really go crazy against a lot of teams, since it outspeeds all unboosted threats. It even is a good Kingambit check for this team since it outspeeds Gambit and quad resists Sucker Punch, which is extremely useful. Tera Dark makes Knock Off extremely powerful, and it has extremely good utility as well as pairing well with Moon and Kingambit to wear down the opponent's dark resists for one of them to sweep late game. STAB Spirit Break to threaten Tusk doesn't hurt either.

:sv/Roaring Moon:
Roaring Moon @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Knock Off
- Acrobatics
- Taunt
Ahh, Roaring Moon. It is one of the best sweepers and wallbreakers for Hyper-Offense right now in the tier, and it's STAB Knock Off can cripple threats that switch into it and remove important items like Rocky Helmet from Skarmory. It is also an incredible wallbreaker against a lot of balance builds right now, since Knock Off is neutral to Skarm and it is an amazing beneficiary of Skarm and Dozo being eliminated by Waterpon. It can also setup on potential revenge killers of waterpon, like banded rillaboom. Taunt also stops skarm and dozo from healing if they survive waterpon and allows roaring moon to deal great damage to them if not finish them off after waterpon.

:sv/Iron Boulder:
Iron Boulder @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Mighty Cleave
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt
Boulder is the fastest booster energy Mon in the meta right now, which is very valuable to this team since we won’t have to Tera or rely on speed tie to beat opposing iron valiant. With an SD up this Pokémon is an amazing late game sweeper to clean up opposing teams after its checks have been weakened enough. Zen headbutt even punishes defensive Tera fightings from things like Dondozo and skarm as well as threatening great tusk.

:sv/Kingambit:
Kingambit @ Black Glasses
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
Tera dark black glasses is an amazing cleaner since our team has multiple ways to beat dark resists AND chip them down easily for gambit to sweep late game. Five teammates fainted with Tera dark black glasses gambit at +2 with your dark resist chipped or knocked out is practically unstoppable, and it provides valuable secondary speed control for the team with sucker punch. (For the mind games I only click sucker to great results lol.) Overall it is very nice for the team, securing it many wins in the late-game.

I hope you all enjoyed this RMT, as this team has been doing very well for me and is fun to play since this is one of the HO teams that can actually break stall, which is very cool. Have a good day and watch out for those damn defense boosting mons, they need to be banned. (SV OU survey joke lol.)

Hey chief, this team is interesting in theory due to how with enough spam you can break, but I'm really skeptical that you can pull it off in practice (not just donzo and skarm, but corv, dirge, tusk, etc.), so I'll add some special attackers to your physically offensive squad

Big changes:

:iron boulder: -------> :raging bolt:

Boulder kinda ass, in design, and it's easily revenge killed by kingambit or at least forces tera. Bolt gives you another healthy source of priority as well as an anti bird sentry and kills donzo too, so that's neat

Raging Bolt @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 64 HP / 28 Def / 252 SpA / 164 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Thunderclap
- Dragon Pulse
- Thunderbolt

Small changes:

We making that valiant special

Iron Valiant @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Encore

Electric tera to stay on things like steel and flying, but you can go fairy for juicy meaty damage, while you still have encore, but now you have a way to force blissey to use tera dark

anyway I hope you like these changes

Hi im someone who has only played exclusively hos that i built myself since i came out of a long hiatus a month ago. This is what i think

- I personally think iron boulder is actually ok, just saying though usually depends on how the team is built, people will run substitute on him with fighting and rock atks to dodge sucker from kingambit.
- Based on my own experience water ogerpon is not good on ho teams, she is revenge killed too easily and u also invite in things u 100% do not want coming in like dragonite, rmoon. Also +2 play rough doesnt ohko dnite thru multiscale from experience. The same can be said for volcarona even with tera dragon/fairy but volc is a lot more threatening as a sweeper so its justifiable to use that
- Have you had much success with setting up an sd on valiant? It just feels to me it is too squishy, imo the mixed set is the best one on ho teams it acts (cc/moonblast/knock/encore) as a revenge killer without needing scarf and setup breaker with encore. The tera doesnt always have to be steel theres other teras i personally like esp if ur not packing a spinblocker. That set also is rly good utility vs stall.
- I agree with the post above u want at least 1 special atker on your team.

Can u provide replays pls showing the team in action to show it works?

I really feel you lack a special attacker and both raging bolt and iron val fix this issue or even volc

First off replace iron boulder with either Bolt or volc:

Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
Tera Type: Ground / Dragon
EVs: 136 HP / 4 Def / 152 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Morning Sun/subsitute/bug buzz/ giga drain
- Fiery Dance
- Tera Blast

This spread gives volc some bulk and enough speed to outspeed kyurem who is at 319 and Tera ground can hit Heatran and raging bolt who would resist as well as garg, gouging fire, and slowking-G. Another option is Tera Dragon since the the meta is infested with a lot is also an option. Morning sun can be replaced with sub if you fight a kingambit and allows for a free QD if you read a switch or have a free hit if already QB once on something. Bug buzz if you want to go three attacks and same with giga drain which also can heal you and added coverage vs garg. Also helps come in on fairy attacks as a resist. Since your team is weak to fairy moves once glimm dies and is usually sacked anyway for hazards. (The spread goes to finch)

Some Iron val sets

Iron Valiant @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 40 Atk / 216 SpA / 252 Spe
- Moonblast
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Encore

Is a great mix attacker while also giving you the fight coverage you want and having another knock user with utility encore as this spread and moveset is finch’s idea. Tera steel to take dragon items e speed and tank a make it rain from gholdengo and wall slowking-g who aren’t AV but you have knock. Can catch some stall players off guard since they have to find out what kind of set you are.

My personal favorite set

Iron Valiant @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Shadow Ball
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind

This set allows you to set up and deal with clodsire with psyshock and blissey and shadow ball for gholdengo and slowking-g Tera ghost for added STAB and avoid e speed from dragonite trying to revenge and gives you a boost if you need to finish off gholdengo or slowking-g and after +2 go for a sweep. Moonblast since STAB andthe fairy coverage, but this set requires some predictions, but once you set up it can get a sweep or a few KOs.

Another replacement over iron boulder is Raging bolt

Raging Bolt @ Booster Energy/air balloon
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy/flying
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Thunderclap
- Calm Mind
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt

This set is to outspeed oppoosing raging bolts who have added bulk and to outspeed some gliscors who try to speed creep bulkier raging bolt sets. Draco can be replaced over dragon pulse as if you force a switch and from the booster sp atk boost go fo immediate power and potential OHKO if you force a switch. Tera flying is an option to avoid EQ and take out any ground types with Draco after a +1. Another option is air balloon since you lack a ground resist can give you a free switch in on tusk or lando and drop a draco. Tera fairy is the standard vs opposing dragons and sucker punch resistance.

Finally if you choose to go full special attacking iron val you can go low kick gambit.

Kingambit @ Leftovers/Lum berry/air balloon
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Kowtow Cleave/iron head
- Swords Dance
- Low Kick
- Sucker Punch

This can be your stall breaker as 3 fallen can 3HKO donozo with tera fighting low kick, deals with opposing kingambits if needed and if you choose air balloon after a +2 deal with great tusk upon switch in and avoid grounded move as said before you lack a ground immunity if you choose to not have it on raging bolt. Kowtow is just great to help not get walled by volc or skarm and corv, but you can also go jolly go outspeed 200 speed corv and skarm and primarina who go 200 speed more often. Can go iron head over kowtow if you feel you need it for fairy types switch ins like iron val sometimes. But kowtow IMO is better for how your team is already built. Lum berry for if volc burns you if you revenged or for pults who run wilo to cripple you. But you know gambit just an overall late game clean up.

Other then that you’re team is solid for HO and hope these changes can help!

Thanks I'll definitely replace boulder for Raging Bolt, boulder hasn't be doing much work for me in games. I will keep Iron Head on Gambit though, since I have multiple mons that can remove tera fighting Dozo, and if I lack Iron Head I get screwed over by Tera Fairy Gambits in the endgame.
