Walking Wake @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Draco Meteor
- Flip Turn
- Knock Off

Even without the sun, Walking Wake still walks all over its foes! Previously seen exclusively as a brutal wallbreaker on sun teams, arguably being the sole reason to even run the archetype in the first place, Walking Wake is recently also seen as an offensive pivot on balance teams, taking on a more methodical and consistent approach at wallbreaking. While it faces competition with Keldeo in this role, what it lacks in priority and ability to check Kingambit is made up for with Knock Off, forcing valuable progress and making sure bulky foes like Assault Vest Alomomola and Galarian Slowking cannot consistently stand in its way, especially because it naturally threatens the tier's best Knock Off absorber in Gliscor. Its STAB combination also covers most of the tier, and compared to Keldeo, it notably prevents common faces on balance like Dragapult and Dragonite from safely switching into it—especially with Tera Fairy to turn the tides against the former—further showcasing its value in the mirror matchup. Balance staples are its go-to partners, including entry hazard setters and walls such as Ting-Lu, Gliscor, and Tinkaton—even allowing the latter two more freedom to forgo Knock Off—as well as fellow offensive threats like Darkrai and Zamazenta.

Even without the sun, Walking Wake still walks all over its foes! Generally I'd change to previously seen exclusively as a brutal wallbreaker on sun teams, arguably being the sole reason to even run the archetype in the first place, Walking Wake is recently also seen as an offensive pivot on balance teams, taking on a more methodical and consistent approach at wallbreaking. While it faces competition with Keldeo in this role, what it lacks in priority and ability to check Kingambit is made up for with Knock Off, forcing valuable progress and making sure bulky foes like Assault Vest Alomomola, (RC) Primarina, and Galarian Slowking cannot consistently stand in its way, especially because it naturally threatens the tier's best Knock Off absorber, Gliscor. Its STAB combination also covers most of the tier and, compared to Keldeo, it notably prevents common faces on balance like Dragapult and Dragonite from safely switching into it—especially with Tera Fairy to turn the tides against the former—further showcasing its value in the mirror matchup.
