Everyone shall suffer at the hands of the steam machine! Volcanion is one of many to benefit from a beautiful plethora of options thanks to its fantastic STAB combination. Torch Song compresses setup and a decently powered Fire-type STAB move all into one. Water Shuriken complements Torch Song well, taking advantage of the boosts all while bypassing Volcanion's middling Speed by having access to STAB priority and having great consistency thanks to Loaded Dice. Earth Power nails Toxapex and Walking Wake that would otherwise eat its STAB moves. Substitute provides Volcanion a way to avoid crippling status and Toxapex's Mortal Spin while also granting it a safety net against naturally faster attackers such as Zamazenta and Ogerpon-C. Volcanion pairs extremely well with Ground-types such as Landorus-T and Great Tusk, with them both providing entry hazard removal. Pokemon such as Latios and Iron Valiant help Volcanion combat the plethora of Dragon-types throughout the tier, such as Raging Bolt and Walking Wake, as not only do they resist both of Volcanion's STAB moves, but they also have access to Clanging Scales, which bypasses Substitute.

Thanks to Loaded Dice, it also has consistency thanks to hitting a guaranteed 4-5 times You could probably compress this sentence with the last one so you mention dice + shuriken in one go. Earth Power rounds out Volcanion's STAB I woul mention it being it's best option against the likes of Walking Wake, Raging Bolt, and Toxapex, as otherwise those eat torch songs for breakfast (Don't have to mention all of 'em) coverage nicely and Substitute provides Volcanion a way to avoid crippling status Most notably Mortal Spin from Toxapex, who Volcanion can use as setup fodder thanks to blocking Flip Turn with WAbsorb while also avoiding having a safety net against naturally faster attackers such as Zamazenta and Ogerpon-C. Volcanion pairs extremely well with Ground-types such as Landorus-T and Great Tusk, with them both providing entry hazard removal, which Volcanion appreciates thanks to its lack of Heavy-Duty Boots. It also appreciates paralysis support from the likes of Rotom-W and Zapdos as Volcanion itself is on the slower side even if it has priority Paralysis support, while nice, isn't really something Volcanion notably needs. I would replace this with teammates that help against the dragons (WWake & Latios) as they can switch in and force you out with Clanging Scales, which also ignores any Substitutes. In fact, naturally fast Pokemon such as Iron Valiant make for a great partner to help nail faster Water resists Water-resistant foes such as Walking Wake.
