Name: Brambleghast
Type:
Abilities: Wind Rider / Sand Rush |
Infiltrator
New Moves: Ice Spinner, Poltergeist, Nasty Plot, Swords Dance, Weather Ball
Removed Moves: none
Justification: Second slate of giving Grass/Ghost mons Poltergeist lol. Sand is a really weird playstyle right now. Every setter and every viable abuser are weak to Grass and Water, which is just sad, so I figured I’d provide another option. Brambleghast perfectly complements the defensive profiles of the current Sand options, while also offering a powerful offensive tool. Grass/Ghost coverage is not bad at all in OU, only struggling to get past Kingambit, the Dark/Flyings (both of which are offensive), and whatever mons decide to run itemless in order to stop a Brambleghast lol. Ice Spinner provides the coverage to hit both Dark/Flyings as well as Hydreigon, though most teams will probably just run Strength Sap for longevity and disruption. Also gave it Nasty Plot and Weather Ball because plot sets sure would be funny! Should help out an otherwise struggling playstyle quite a lot.
Name: Scovillain
Type:
Abilities: Chlorophyll / Opportunist |
Moody
New Moves: Dark Pulse, Dragon Dance, Earthquake, Fire Lash, Flare Blitz, Nasty Plot, Play Rough, Pollen Puff, Power Whip, Psychic Fangs, Scorching Sands, Stun Spore, Taunt
Removed Moves: none
Justification: Speaking of Paldean Grass type weather abusers, here’s Scovillain. Mon got the worst movepool in existence for literally no reason, so I figured I’d patch it up a bit.

Name: Rotom
Type: same as in base
Abilities: Levitate /

Prankster |
Adaptability
Volt Absorb |
Aerilate
Refrigerate |
Slush Rush
Well-Baked Body |
Solar Power
Cloud Nine |
Berserk
Storm Drain |
Misty Surge
New Moves:

Calm Mind, Pain Split, Parabolic Charge

Hurricane

Freeze-Dry

Flamethrower

Giga Drain

Snipe Shot
Removed Moves: none
Justification: Pretty popular buff idea, but I saw potential in a few of these so I figured I’d do the whole set.

This mon likely will never hit OU with that godawful statline, but I saw I think The Damned sub Adaptability, which made a ton of flavor sense and gives Rotom enough of a power boost to maybe see OU usage. In other news, Prankster is funny because flavor but also Prankster Wisp/TWave/Trick are some pretty nice options for the lower tiers. On the moves front, losing Pain Split was a tragedy, and Calm Mind/Parabolic add some new depth to the gameplay of the other forms.

I HATE Gale Wings Rotom-Fan. Relying on Air Slash flinches to break through checks is incredibly stupid and the mon doesn’t even have wings so the flavor is terrible. Instead, I gave it Volt Absorb and Hurricane to have a leg up on Zapdos as a defensive mon in OU, and Aerilate if you want a more reliable STAB for NP sets (mon learns Hyper Voice naturally).

This mon just really needs new STABs, so giving it Refrigerate Hyper Voice and Freeze-Dry is big. However, the real winner here is Slush Rush. Besides the gimmicky Cetitan, Snow doesn’t really have a designated sweeper at the moment, and with NP/Blizzard/Tbolt/FD, Slush Rush sets on this go crazy.
Is your refrigerator running?

Yeah idk lol this mon is hard to buff. Solar Power could theoretically be cool on Sun cause it breaks through Waters but idk. We’ll see, I guess.

This one is kinda quirky. Cloud Nine gives it a good matchup into Rain, but the real funny set here is Big Root Nasty Plot with Berserk. Giga Drain/Parabolic Charge are very reasonable STAB options when combined with Big Root, and Berserk pairs perfectly with the constant draining. Not sure if this hits OU proper, but it’s at least a really unique option.

As you may have noticed, Misty Terrain is missing a setter this gen. Thankfully, Rotom-Wash is here to save the day. This is a
far better option than Revavroom-Ruchbah, and it pairs nicely with Iron Valiant and Iron Treads on Rune Drive teams. Also actually walls Baxcalibur’s STABs now, though Earthquake smokes you.
