Uxie movesets/analysis

I'm rather a big fan of the triad of Psychic Pokemon Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, and I always end up creating teams with one of them included, so I'm surprised that Uxie has no analysis as of yet...
The two main movesets I like to use with my Uxie are as follows:

1. Specially Defensive/Physically Defensive/Set-up

This Uxie is designed to be a lead Uxie who can set up entry hazards, inflict status conditions, and just be a naughty Uxie in general. In addition, it can also tank attacks and dish out some pretty nasty stuff. I especially like to use this Uxie when I have a team of speedy Pokemon, as it can get off some Thunder Waves and reduce the speed of the opponent's team by a significant amount before I bring in my main attackers.
Item: Leftovers
Moveset:
U-Turn
Stealth Rock
Thunder Wave
Toxic
Nature: Careful (+SpD, -SpA)
Stats: Max HP, max SpD, remaining 8 EVs on Defense (alternatively, max HP, max Def, remaining 8 EVs on SpD, depending on which you would prefer - a team weak to physical attacks would benefit from a physically defensive Uxie whereas a team weak to special attacks benefits from a specially defensive Uxie.)
Analysis: This moveset makes full use of Uxie's high Def/Special Defense stats and creates a moveset intended to inflict some nasty damage on the opponent, at which point Uxie can U-turn out and let a teammate finish the job. This is an especially good Uxie for speed-based teams, so if you've got a Scarfed Pokemon on your team, Uxie becomes a good support - getting off a Thunder Wave on opponents and then U-turning off into your Scarfed Pokemon of choice to get off some nasty damage. The best part about having Uxie as a set-up/defensive Pokemon is that it has equal Defense and Special Defense, meaning you can adjust its stats to whatever would support your team best. Although none of the EVs are invested in Speed, Uxie isn't exactly the slowest Pokemon to begin with, meaning that even Ghost, Bug, and Dark types can fall victim to Uxie's superior defenses and then take a nasty Thunder Wave, leaving Uxie to outspeed with a U-Turn and bring in a Fire, Flying, Dark, or Fighting Pokemon of choice who can then finish off the opponent quite easily.

2. Calm Mind/Substitute/Sweeper

This Uxie is designed to be a late-game Uxie, who can get up some Calm Minds behind a Substitute and then tank attacks with a high SpD while dishing out some pretty nasty Special Attacks. This Uxie would work well with a team that inflicts sleep, paralysis, etc. so that Uxie can get up a Substitute without the opponent breaking it on the first turn.
Item: Leftovers, TwistedSpoon, or Spell Tag (I prefer Leftovers so Substitute doesn't completely demolish Uxie's HP, although the boost from TwistedSpoon or Spell Tag would help to increase Uxie's damage output)
Moveset:
Calm Mind OR Nasty Plot (although I prefer Calm Mind due to the fact that occasionally Uxie cannot OHKO an opponent even with +2 SpAtk, although it is up to you)
Substitute
Shadow Ball
Psychic/Psyshock
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
Stats: Max Speed, max SpAtk, with remaining EVs on Def or HP
Ideally, the opponent will have already been paralyzed or put to sleep so that they cannot attack on the first turn and break the substitute, although if Uxie is brought in on a burned physical attacker, that also perhaps could work, depending on the situation. Bring Uxie in with a Volt Switch or U-turn, and in turn one, set up a substitute. The opponent won't be able to attack due to sleep or paralysis and ideally won't be able to break the sub. Once the substitute is up, get up a Calm Mind to ensure a sweep. Psychic is ideal, as it is the best special Psychic attack, although I have seen these types of Uxie run Psyshock as well, which damages based on defense rather than special defense. Shadow Ball is for coverage so Uxie can hit other Psychic types and Ghost types, and with a high enough Special Attack and an extra Calm Mind or Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball can take down most bug-types in this tier. With this moveset, the only true threat to Uxie in the RU tier would be a Sucker Punch or similar priority move, so be sure to knock out potential threats before bringing this Uxie into battle.

So... that's my analysis of Uxie. What do you folks think?

Hey mate, welcome to smogon.

sadly that's not how official analyses like the ones you can find in the strategy dex on site are written. Check out other analyses (you can find some in this forum) and see how they're organised and worded out, and check out this guide if you still wanna write one.

Hopefully that doesn't discourage you from contributing, and sorry you had to go through the effort of writing that.

If you have any questions you're welcome to send me a message :]
