UU Sandstorm Stall

After playing UU, I decided to try out something new - Sandstorm Stall. After discussing it with some of my friends at school and making some editations, this is what I came up with.

Lead:

Shaymin @ Leftovers
Natural Cure 252 HP, 252 Special Defence, 6 Defence
Nature +Defence, -Attack
-Leech Seed
-Protect
-Seed Flare
-Air Slash

Ah, so a Shaymin lead, wierd you might say. Let me explain. Basically, this is a modified Bulky Shaymin. It Leech Seeds when it can, and Protects for Explosions, or for locking in Choice Scarf leads for easy setup. As of now, the only two leads I have problems with are Roserade and Swellow, which Registeel manhandles (and Relicanth manhandles Swellow to). Roserade however, can cause my team problems with T-Spikes however, so that will need to be considered, and I will discuss that later on. Roserade is hurt by Air Slash quite a bit though.

EDITS: Replaced Seed Flare and Air Slash over Earth Power and HP Ice. Thanks Erazor!

The Weather Starter:
dpmba449.png

Hippotas @ Leftovers
Sand Stream 252 HP, 252 Defense, 6 Special Defence
Nature +Defense, -Special Attack
-Protect
-Slack Off
-Stealth Rock
-Toxic

I knew that Hippotas was going to be virtually useless for this team, so mainly I use it as setup fodder. However, it utilizes Toxic and Stealth Rock, so there is a slight chance of it surviving and outstalling the opponent. I was tempted to run sub... but no.

The Rest Talkers
dpmba369.png

Relicanth @ Leftovers
Rock Head 252 HP, 252 Attack, 6 Defence
Nature +Attack, -Special Attack
-Head Smash
-Waterfall
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

Finally, I get to use my favorite pokemon :). Awsome. Relicanth provides a good Ice Resist on the team and is very bulky with that Sandstorm boost. Sadly, he's my only rock, but he is good. Nobody likes taking Head Smashes, even unboosted, and things like Poliwrath, that are considred "counters" still cannot always break Relicanth, thanks to their lower power moves. He is my Physical Wall Rest Talker, and takes hits like a man. I give up the Life Orb Boost so that Relicanth lasts ages.

EDITS: I'm thinking about running life orb in the first place after all.
dpmba379.png

Regiseteel @ Leftovers
Clear Body 252 HP, 252 Special Defence, 6 Defence
Nature +Special Defense, -Special Attack
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Toxic
-Iron Head

The usual RT Registeel lingo, with Toxic over Earthquake in order to get the stalling to work well. Stops Swellow and Roserade in their tracks giving me a free Iron Head or Toxic, much worth it. Stops Shaymin too. My Special Rest Talker with the advantage of being steel, and excellent defense as well, so he works well with Relicanth. One is just slightly more bulky on one side of the defenses than the other.

My Anti-Weather
dpmba282.png

Gardevoir @ Choice Scarf
Trace 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack, 6 HP
Nature +Speed, -Attack
-Thunderbolt
-HP Ice
-Wish
-Trick

My anti-Chlorophyll/Swift Swim pokemon doubles up as an anti Clefable and Stat-up Pokemon. I laugh when Ludicolo gets a Scarf after I trace her Swift Swim. Similarly, I chuckle when Qwilfish, despite wanting to Explode (knowing he's faster even with the Traced Boost) gets T-bolted before it expects it. Clefable Encores a Trick, and inherit's a very pretty Scarf for it's efforts. Same with Tomb and Maggy. Also traces Volt Absorb, Dry Skin, among other things that prove quite useful when you are least expecting it.

EDITS: Currently testing Psychic over HP Ice.

My Wall Breaker (or last pokemon standing breaker, whatever floats your boat)
dpmba127.png

Pinsir @ Leftovers/Shell Bell
Mold Breaker 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP
Nature +Speed, -Special Attack
-Swords Dance
-X-Scissor
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge

My last check on Spiritomb and catches Rest Talking ones pretty easily. Loves to come in on the fighting and ground moves aimed for Relicanth and Registeel and outspeeds Blaziken, getting in the KO with Earthquake. Resists Vaccum Wave too. Kills Levitators pretty easily, but most are psychic, so I would do it with X-Scissor in the first place. However, Weezing fails to stop this, which is always good. I need to figure out which to run though, Leftovers or Shell Bell.

Common Problems I've noticed:

Toxic Spikes: Ugh, this is bad for my team. Luckily Relicanth and Registeel take it nicely, but I might be up to considering a replacement for Shaymin - I'm thinking Venusaur. I'd run a similar moveset except maybe Leaf Storm/Toxic or something? You tell me, but it needs to have room for Protect, and be able to deal with Trode to an extent. This is the major problem I need fixed, other than that, nothing really. Azumarill doesn't give me problems thanks to Relicanth and Registeel, along with Sandstorm and maybe, if I can manage, Toxic Damage. It's also choiced, and I love choiced moves, because they are free switch-ins.

Threat List

EDITS: Added more info about certain threats. Also trying to think of something better for countering Absol (thanks Chris Is Me for bringing it up).

Absol - Pinsir says hello - at least for revenge killing job with Wish support. I may lose a pokemon to this, but it cannot 1HKO Relicanth or Reigsteel meaning it's going to be forced out. I don't like sacrificing a pokemon though.
Altaria - Shaymin can HP Ice and ScarfVoir does a good job of preventing DD and if I can do that, I can just wall it.
Arcanine - Relicanth.
Azumarill - Relicanth or Registeel work fine, though on subpunching variants I ususally have to do soemthing clever with Shaymin. I can usually outstall it. Shaymin hurts it alot.
Blaziken - Gardevoir and Pinisir outspeed it, so revenge kill.
Camerupt - Shaymin outspeeds and so does Pinsir. Otherwise, Relicanth can usually wall and send Waterfall at it.
Charizard - Relicanth pwns.
Drapion - Pinsir, Shaymin, Registeel.
Entei - Relicanth
Espeon - Harder. I'll usually switch in Gardevoir to check it isn't Trick variant and then switch to Registeel or Pinsir if it isn't. Otherwise I stay in.
Feraligatr - Uh, Shaymin, though usually it has sub, so it is rather easy to waste it's health quickly.
Floatzel - Brick Break does pitiful damage versus Relicanth and Registeel. Pinsir as well.
Glaceon - Relicanth and Registeel.
Hariyama - Difficult. Pinsir and Shaymin usually do good jobs though. I'm screwed if it's an Brick Break/Ice Punch/Stone Edge/Payback set, but usaully those are Choice. I may switch back to Psychic on Gardevoir for this one. Shaymin's Air Slash helps a bit.
Hitmonlee - To fragile, I can use a nonresisted move and it will die, not mentioning it's slow.
Hitmonchan - Not stable enough to really break me.
Hitmontop - Almost never runs Ice Punch, so Shaymin

Honchkrow - Registeel
Houndoom - Relicanth and Pinsir
Jynx - Relicanth, Registeel
Kabutops - Gardevoir; out of the rain, pretty much everything.
Leafeon - Shaymin
Lickilicky - Registeel or Relicanth
Linoone - Registeel or Relicanth
Luxray - Hippotas, Shaymin, Registeel
Ludicolo - Gardevoir, Pinsir
Magmortar - Relicanth can survive Focus Blasts with Sandstorm. Shaymin and Pinsir outspeed.
Manectric - Hippotas, Registeel, than to an appropriate move counter as they are usually choiced, else stay with Regi and Toxic.
Marowak - Shaymin. If in Trick Room, let it revenge kill something and then Waterfall it with Relicanth and Iron Head it with Registeel. Eventually it dies. Does not like Toxic.
Medicham - Gardevoir. Also, it's choiced, so I can setup on it.
Mismagius - Gardevoir's Trick
Nidoking - Gardevoir scares it off. Pinsir takes it on.
Ninetales - Another difficult poke, but Gardevoir usually does the job.
Omastar - Registeel will survive a few Earth Powers if it's not Spec'd, Else you can just predict it and set-up.
Pinsir - Relicanth survives Earthquake. So does Registeel.

Poliwrath - Gardvoir scares off or kills it.
Primeape - Gardevoir scares it off, it's choiced, so Protect can take advantage of it.
Roserade - Ugh T-Spikes. Need to fix that, walled by Registeel. Air Slash helps.
Qwilfish - Registeel and Gardevoir
Sceptile - Registeel is surviving Focus Blast Shaymin also does a good job.
Scyther - See Floatzel.
Sharpedo - Registeel if Scarfed. Pinsir if not. Shaymin does a good job.
Shaymin - Earth Power does not 3HKO with Life Orb, If Specs, I outpredict.
Slaking - Protect.
Swellow - Registeel

Tauros - Often choiced, so setup, Relicanth will survive Earthqakes.
Typhlosion - Relicanth. If it uses Focus Blast, it's Scarf or Spec'd and i can use Pinsir.
Ursaring - I just have to outspeed and build up residual damage.
Venusaur - Difficult, though Pinsir does a good job if it does not come in on HP Fire
Zangoose - Not as scary as Ursaring, so Relicanth it is.

Oh, and I'm trying to extend the threat list that someone else created, so if you see any threats that belong here, please post.

You might want to add natures..

At a glance Hippopotas only wants Protect -- Protect and Endure have the same 50% chance of failure when used in succession.

Ok, I though someone posted something contrary in Simple Questions and Answers, I'll check though, thanks.

EDIT: Yes, you're right, I changed Hippotas know, thanks again.

Azumarill walks through this team entirely. Nothing resists Water, so CB will hurt. Sub / Focus Punch / Waterfall / Ice Punch beats everything on the team.

Absol isn't countered by Pinsir; CB dark moves do tons but whatever

CB Hariyama can spam Close Combat and 2HKO everything on this team (Pinsir with SR and Sand!)

Those are the three things on the top of my head, I didn't really think too hard about it. Basically, you don't have a good pool of resistances, and you use Hippopotas, which ends up hurting you I think since you're using other Sand immune Pokémon. If you don't use many other Sand immune Pokémon you'll do better.

Chris is right. Azumarill and Hariyama love this team. But we'll come to that a bit later.

As a wall, Regirock does much better than Relicanth in the sand(sorry, but...).
So try out:
Regirock@Leftovers/Chesto Berry
Careful nature
252 HP, 252 Sp.def, 4 Def
-Curse,
-Rock Slide
-Rest
-Sleep talk/Earthquake.

Use Sleep talk if you choose Leftovers, and Earthquake if you go with the Chesto Berry.

On Shaymin, I suggest using Seed Flare and Air Slash instead of Protect and Hidden Power Ice. It now serves as your Azumarill and Hariyama "counter". Air Slash hits Roserade harder then HP Ice anyway.

Bump, due to some changes, and most of all the now traceable Swift Swim (thanks very much Doug Just Doug). Now that this Trace is in full effect, I can resume some more testing. Sorry guys I did not know you posted earlier.

@Erazor

Thanks very much for the Shaymin recc. I think Shaymin can still deal with Regi anyways, so Earth Power was not needed. And of course, flinch chance backed by Toxic is always good.

I'm a bit hesitant about Regirock though - he doesn't have the ice resistance Relicanth has. Does he take Ice moves very well? I suppose Registeel does, and to an extent Gardevoir. I'll think it over though.

@Chris Is Me

Thanks for the rate. Shaymin now deals with Azu and Yama... hopefully.
Absol provides a bit more of a problem, but I'm currently looking into it currently.

I'll see about switching around my team a bit... the sand is there basically to hurt opponents along with Leech Seed and Toxic. What would you reccomend switching out to increase my resistances though, as I think you are right about them?

Thanks guys for rating my team.

Oh yeah, one last thing - I'm trying to extend the threat list, if anyone has anything to add, please post.
