[OVERVIEW]

* Urshifu-S is capable of dealing massive damage with its signature move Wicked Blow and high base Attack, as well as its amazing ability in Unseen Fist, which allows it to bypass Protect and apply constant pressure.

* Tornadus is a great partner for Urshifu-S, as it provides Speed control with Tailwind and can launch powerful Bleakwind Storms into Fighting-types like Urshifu-R that resist Wicked Blow. Many of Urshifu-S's threats, such as Chien-Pao, Flutter Mane, and Urshifu-R naturally outspeed it, so strong Speed control is vital. Ogerpon-W can Terastallize to better handle a lot of threats to Urshifu-S such as Chien-Pao, Flutter Mane. and Landorus, and support it with Follow Me. Rillaboom hits most Dark-resistant foes such as Iron Hands and Urshifu-R for high damage, and can support it with Fake Out and priority Grass Glide, which combined with a Sucker Punch from Urshifu-S can OHKO Flutter Mane. In return, Urshifu-S handles Rillaboom's weaknesses, hitting the plethora of Steel- and Dark-types that resist its Grass-type STAB moves such as Kingambit, Incineroar, and Gholdengo.

* Urshifu-S struggles to break through teams with strong Dark-resistant Pokemon or generally bulky supports like Urshifu-R, Iron Hands, and Tera Fairy Flutter Mane as well as redirection from Amoonguss and Fake Out from Incineroar. Due to its poor defensive typing, middling Speed and lack of coverage, it faces issues against faster teams and its many checks.

[SET COMMENTS]

* Close Combat hits common Dark-resistant Pokemon such as Incineroar and Kingambit. Sucker Punch provides priority and makes up for Urshifu-S's average Speed tier.

* Urshifu-S uses Tera Dark to fire off strong Wicked Blows or Tera Stellar to boost the damage output of its STAB moves. Tera-boosted Close Combat OHKOes common Incineroar at -1 Attack, and both Tera types will allow Urshifu-S to OHKO Flutter Mane, provided its Tera Stellar boost is still intact for Dark-type moves.

* Focus Sash allows Urshifu-S to survive any one attack, making up for its poor defensive typing. In contrast to Choice items, it gives Urshifu-S the freedom to switch moves and use Detect when threatened, which is especially strong against Fake Out leads.

* The extra EVs in Defense are to maximize Urshifu-S's chance of surviving a use of Surging Strikes from Tera Water Mystic Water Urshifu-R.

Choice Band (Urshifu) @ Choice Band
Ability: Unseen Fist
Level: 50
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 124 HP / 156 Atk / 44 Def / 108 SpD / 76 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wicked Blow
- Sucker Punch
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab / U-Turn
[SET COMMENTS]

* Choice Band is used to guarantee an OHKO on common targets like Landorus, Ogerpon-H, Flutter Mane, and even Tornadus that are not invested heavily in physical bulk. Even naturally bulky Pokemon such as Dragonite and Walking Wake can be OHKOed or put in the range for minimal damage to KO them.

* Poison Jab is excellent coverage, hitting the problematic Fairy-types that Urshifu-S normally struggles with. After Terastallization, you can guarantee an OHKO on almost all Rillaboom, Terastallized Flutter mane, and even bulkier pokemon like Tera Fairy Indeedee-F. U-turn is also a viable move as a pivot option.

* The Attack investment and Adamant nature are necessary to get the KOs mentioned earlier, such as the OHKO on Landorus and Tornadus. The Defense investment allows Urshifu-S to survive the combination of Tera Normal Choice Band Dragonite's Extreme Speed and Sucker Punch from Adamant Chien-Pao. The Special Defense EVs allow Urshifu-S to take a variety of strong attacks such as Earth Power from Landorus and Bleakwind Storm from Tornadus. The remaining EVs are placed in Speed.

* Tera Poison is chosen to resist the Fighting- and Fairy-type moves that would otherwise hit Urshifu-S super effectively. Urshifu-S is naturally immune to Psychic and has Dark-type moves to cover for the weakness, and it also naturally threatens Psychic-types like Farigiraf. Tera Dark is also an option, as the extra damage combined with Choice Band is absurd and, combined with good Tailwind support and redirection, is a good choice. However, it requires more careful positioning around threats, as Urshifu-S won't be able to Terastallize out of it's Fairy- and Fighting-type weaknesses.

[OVERVIEW]

* Urshifu-S is rising offensive threat, capable of outputting strong damage thats neutral into most of the current metagame with its signature move wicked blow and high base Attack as well as and amazing ability in unseen fist, which allows it to negate protect and output constant pressure of high damage or even a clean kill. Analyses are on the dex for months at a time, so we don't care about current metagame status. The other removals are for trimming fluff. Please use proper grammar, such as capitalizing Pokemon nouns and using apostrophes.

* Tornadus is a great partner for Urshifu-S as it provides speed control with tailwind and can launch powerful bleakwind storms into fighting types like Urshifu-RS Water Urshifu is just Urshifu-R. that resist wicked blow. Many of Urshifu-S's threats naturally outspeed it, such as Chien-Pao, Flutter mane, or Urshifu-RS so strong speed control is vital. Add a line about booster speed Icy Wind Flutter Mane as well for the same reasons. Ogerpon-Wellspring once terrastalizing can handle the aforementioned problematic Chien Pao and Landorus, as well as picking up a KO on Flutter mane. Ogerpon-W can Terastalize to better handle a lot of the threats to Urshifu-S like Chien-Pao, Landorus, and Flutter Mane. Urshifu-S also handles Rillaboom's weaknesses, hitting the plethora of steel and dark types that resist its Grass STAB such as Roaring Moon and Chi yu, and Rillaboom hitting most dark resists for high damage, such as Iron Hands and Urshifu-RS. Change these mentions to Kingambit, Gholdengo, and Incineroar - Roaring Moon and ChiYu are faster than Urshifu so it's unreliably to call it a sound check to these pokemon.

* Urshifu-S struggles to break through teams with strong dark resists or generally bulky supports like Urshifu-RS, Iron Hands, and Tera Fairy Flutter Mane reminder to use correct grammar for all Pokemon names/nouns as well as disruption in Redirection from Amoonguss and Fake Outs from Incineroar. Due to its poor defensive typing, middling speed and lack of coverage it faces issues against faster teams and one of its many checks.

Choice Band is definitely not the most prominent Urshifu-S set and this should be changed with the sash set in order.
* The choice band is picked because it helps reache many breakpoints that non choice banded or even life orb Urshifu-S doesen't hit. Practically every target that is weak to wicked blow will drop, even bulky mons like Defense invested Cresselia, and most low - middling physically bulky neuteral pokemon will drop. Reword this to talk about the Guaranteeing the knock out on specific Pokemon, I would advise against using 'most' for cases where it is possible that they can live with realistic bulky spreads. on most Landorus, Ogerpon-Hearthflame, and even most Tornadus that are not max physical bulk. Even some more defensive targets like Walking Wake and Dragonite are a roll for the OHKO, and at minimum put them chip damage range.

* Poison jab is excellent coverage, helping hit the problematic fairy types that Urshifu-S normally struggles with. With tera, you can guarantee a kill on almost all Rillabooms, Terastallized Flutter mane, Ogerpon-wellspring and hearthflame, and even a more bulky pokemon like an Indeede-F that has terastallized into fairy, which is great at catching opponents off guard most VGC is played in open teamsheet format so I don't think this is relevant. What does U-turn do? Wicked blow, Sucker punch, and Close Combat are all practically mandatory.

* The Adamant nature is need to secure most OHKO's, and hits the 156 bump. this can be reworded to say something like "The Attack investment, along with an Adamant Nature, are important for getting the OHKOs talked about earlier. Speed wise, very little is invested as there are few important targets in the 127 - 145 range that threaten the Urshifu-S besides Urshifu-RS, which the single strike variant cant damage anyways. This allows more to be invested in defenses.

* The Defense investment optimizes for Mystic Water Tera Water Urshifu-RS, and allows it to live a terastallized Ogerpon-Wellspring Ivy Cudgel, a Miracle Seed Grassy terrain boosted Rillaboom Wood hammer, Adamant Tera stellar Chien Pao Sacred sword, and a double up from Tera Normal Choice Banded Sword of Ruin Dragonite Extreme speed and Adamant Chien Pao Sucker Punch Combine all points about the EV spread into a single bullet point. You can just say that all the leftover EVs are used in Speed. Try to just pick one or two examples for Physical and Special attacks.

* On the Special Defensive side, the spread lives most Modest Life Orb Landorus Earth Power, Choice Specs Gholdengo Make it Rain, Tornadus Bleakwind Storm, Modest non Dragon Fang Boosted Regidrago Dragon Energy, Timid Choice specs Chi-Yu Heat Wave, and a Farigiraff Dazzling Gleam.

* The poison tera type is chosen because it resists the super effective fighting and fairy type moves, and has manageable resistances. Urshifu-S is naturally immune to psychic and has dark type moves to cover for them, and it already handles most ground types with Close Combat or Wicked blow I would like to see a mention of dark. CB Dark Urshifu hits for obscene damage and can be supported with tailwind and redirection.

[SET COMMENTS]

* The focus sash item is used to guarantee that Urshifu will take at least 2 hits, and offers more utility than Choice Band. this isn't really utility, rather, flexibility since you aren't being locked in front of a move. Being able to protect in front of fake out means its more manuverable and the focus sash allows it be a field presence for more than 1 turn not true since the opponent can double the slot, more importantly talk about surviving any one hit, such as a Dazzling Gleam or Moonblast from Flutter Mane. It being able to live 2 turns means that your opponent has a choice, commit to getting the kill but be at risk of a protect on Urshifu or an attack or pivot on the partner, or attack the partner and let the Urshifu launch wicked blows.

* The extra EV's in Defense are to optimize for living a Mystic Water Tera Water Urshifu Surging Strikes, but otherwise its just 252/252 adamant.

* The tera Dark is chosen for more damage, with the focus sash you dont need to run a defensive terrastillization and the extra damage is very much needed. Urshifu-S uses a Dark Tera for repeatedly clicking strong Wicked Blows, or a Stellar Tera to boost both its offensive STABs. The boosted Close Combat OHKOes common Incineroar at -1 Attack. The set does not do as much damage as the choice band variation, and misses out on a few important OHKO's, however for most like Flutter mane you still get the kill. The focus sash usually makes up for the difference, but It depends on the team. Cutting out the comparisons to choice band, it's best that you just write about what each set does instead of comparing them.

At least make one bullet point about the moves - Close Combat hitting the likes of Incineroar and Kingambit, Sucker Punch adding priority, etc.

* Tornadus is a great partner for Urshifu-S as it provides speed control with tailwind and can launch powerful Bleakwind Storms into Fighting types like Urshifu-R that resist Wicked Blow. Many of Urshifu-S's threats naturally outspeed it, such as Chien-Pao, Flutter mane (Especially the speed booster variant) every Flutter Mane is realistically going to outspeed so this isn't necessary or Urshifu-R so strong speed control is vital. Ogerpon-W can terrastilize to better handle a lot of threats to Urshifu-S such as Chien-pao, Flutter mane and Landorus. Urshifu-S also handles Rillaboom's weaknesses, hitting the plethora of Steel and Dark types that resist its Grass STAB such as Kingambit, Incineroar and Gholdengo, and add a period here Rillaboom hits hitting most Dark resists for high damage, such as Iron Hands and Urshifu-R.

* Urshifu-S struggles to break through teams with strong Dark resists or generally bulky supports like Urshifu-RS, Iron Hands, and Tera Fairy Flutter Mane as well as disruption in Redirection from Amoonguss and Fake Outs from Incineroar. * The Focus Sash item is used to guarantee that Urshifu-S will take at least 2 hits, and offers more flexibility in allowing it to switch moves. Being able to protect in front of Fake Out means its more manuverable and the Focus Sash allows it to live any one hit, such as Flutter Mane Dazzling Gleam, partially negating its poor defensive typing. Living at least 1 attack means that your opponent has a choice, commit to getting the kill but be at risk of a protect on Urshifu or an attack or pivot on the partner, or attack the partner and let the Urshifu launch Wicked Blows. I think this is overexplaining the point a bit, so I'm going to write something below this and you can implement something similar or just edit the above to be more brief.

Focus Sash allows Urshifu-S to survive any one attack, making up for its poor defensive typing. Compared to Choice Items, it also gives Urshifu-S the freedom to switch moves and use Detect when threatened. I get the thought behind what you're trying to say re: committing to killing a sash mon but it isn't always true (double spread moves or a spread move wiping out the Urshifu partner so the next attack hits it regardless would be cases that make this a moot point)

* The extra EV's in Defense are to optimize for living a Mystic Water Tera Water Urshifu Surging Strikes from Urshifu-R.

* Urshifu-S uses a Dark Tera for repeatedly clicking strong Wicked Blows, or a Stellar Tera to boost both of its offensive STABs. The boosted Stellar boosted Close Combat OHKOes common Incineroar at -1 Attack, while both tera's OHKO Flutter Mane. Both Tera types will allow Urshifu-S to OHKO Flutter Mane, provided Urshifu's Stellar boost is still intact for Dark-type moves. Think this gets the point across better, but if you want to tweak it a bit go for it.

* Close Combat is used for its high Base Power and taking advantage of Urshifu-S's Fighting type STAB, also hitting hits common Dark resists such as Incineroar or Kingambit. Sucker Punch is picked to add priority, and in certain situations adds priority and makes up for Urshifu-S's average Speed tier.

good points but i do think i'd actually like to see these listed in the opposite order of what they are now, since moves -> tera -> evs & item choice is generally how these analyses flow.

[SET COMMENTS]

*The Choice Band is used to guarantee the knock out on common targets like Landorus, Ogerpon-Hearthflame, Flutter mane, and even Tornadus that are not invested heavily in physical bulk. Even some more defensive Pokemon like Walking Wake and Dragonite are a roll for the OHKO, and at minimum put them chip damage range. will leave this one up to you but I think it is better to say that something like "Even naturally bulky Pokemon such as Dragonite and Walking Wake can be KOed after minimal chip damage." All relevant Pokemon with a dark type weakness will drop to wicked blow. With all the KOs listed in the first two sentences, this can be inferred pretty easily.

* Poison jab is excellent coverage, helping hit the problematic Fairy types that Urshifu-S normally struggles with. With tera, you can guarantee a kill on almost all Rillabooms, Terastallized Flutter mane, Ogerpon-wellspring and hearthflame, and even a more bulky pokemon like an Indeede-F that has terastallized into Fairy. U-Turn is also a viable move as a pivot option, and is also useful for breaking focus sash such as on Chien-pao.

* The Attack investment and Adamant nature are necessary to get the kills mentioned earlier. it's always better to restate some of the aforementioned options, or better yet you can just take a few mentions from the top point and just mention them here. I'm just rewriting the next few sentences for better flow. The Defense investment allows Urshifu-S to survive the combination of a Tera Normal Choice Band Dragonite Extreme Speed and a Sucker Punch from Adamant Chien-Pao. The Special Defense EVs allow Urshifu to take a variety of strong attacks such as Earth Power from Landorus and Bleakwind Storm from Tornadus. The remaining EVs are placed in Speed. Speed wise, very little is invested as there are few important targets in the 127 - 145 range that threaten the Urshifu-S besides Urshifu-RS, which the single strike variant cant damage anyways. This allows more to be invested in defenses.

* The Defense investment optimizes for Mystic Water tera Water Urshifu-RS and allows it to live a terastallized Ogerpon-W Ivy Cudgel and a double up from tera Normal Choice Banded Sword of Ruin Dragonite Extreme Speed and Adamant Chien Pao Sucker Punch. On the Special Defensive side, the spread lives Modest Life Orb Landorus Earth Power, Choice Specs Gholdengo Make it Rain, and Tornadus Bleakwind Storm

* The Poison tera type is chosen because it resists the super effective Fighting and Fairy type moves, and has manageable resistances. not really sure what this means so i'm just going to remove it. Urshifu-S is naturally immune to Psychic and has Dark type moves to cover for the weakness, and it already handles most ground types with Close Combat or Wicked blow. I'd probably ditch the point about Ground-types and just say that Urshifu-S naturally threatens Psychic types like Latias and Farigiraf with Wicked Blow. Tera Dark is also an option, as the extra damage combined with Choice Band is absurd and combined with good Tailwind support and redirection, is a good choice. However, it requires more careful positioning around threats as you can't tera out of the Fairy and Fighting type weaknesses.

* The Poison tera type Tera Poison is chosen because it resists to resist the super effective Fighting- and Fairy-type (AH) moves that would otherwise hit Urshifu-S super effectively. Urshifu-S is naturally immune to Psychic and has Dark-type (AH) moves to cover for the weakness, and Urshifu-S it also naturally threatens Psychic-types (AH) with like Farigiraf. I'm assuming this was meant as an example. Tera Dark is also an option, as the extra damage combined with Choice Band is absurd and, (AC) combined with good Tailwind support and redirection, is a good choice. However, it requires more careful positioning around threats, (AC) as you can't tera Urshifu-S won't be able to Terastallize out of the its Fairy- and Fighting-type (AH) weaknesses.
