Ever since people were designing Teddiursa's evolution, the community was wild for designs! Ursaring is that bear everyone loves, including Teddiursa, so I just can't help it but to rank all of them!
Ursaring is the bear with that sonic ring in the middle, and being great at picking berries (like Tropius.) He's a bear no one can deny. His fierce claws, his angry roar, and so much more makes him a unique Bear pokemon to have on your Smogon team. He evolves from the cute Teddiursa, undeniably huggable - oh wait, are we talking about Ursaring? Sorry. Anyways, we just can't help but to put all of the cool designs of Ursaring on this list - so you can know what to use on your team! Please give a huge round of applause to Ursaring, as we shall commence the tier list to open!​

Nominating Ursaring Unranked --> S

Ursaring is the first example of a good Bear Pokemon, excluding all of the other Bear pokemon. Its high attack allows it to run Choice Band and with Chople Berry it can resist more powerful fighting attacks. Also with its Guts ability, it will be able to put the attack stat to good use. It also has Bulk Up and Swords Dance, making it a bit of a very cool bear in the meta, since it just breaks it. This can also be run with Toxic Orb as well, as the user will get poisoned, activating the Guts ability. It also runs a heavy pack of physical moves, like Close Combat which make it far more superior to Steel types, or Avalanche, which dominates Grass types. It is the sweeper out of all of Ursaring University, as it just dominates the meta.

Rules:
  • Post intelligently. Posts like "I think X Ursaring should be in this tier" will be have absolutely nothing done to them. Expand on your opinion with any level of analysis you choose to provide, though showing understanding of the metagame and perhaps bringing a unique perspective to the conversation may help to make your case stronger.
  • Usage statistics may be used to support an argument or a claim, but don't base your ENTIRE argument around them. There needs to be more substance than just this. For example, you can't just say "X Ursaring shouldn't be this tier because they aren't used that often!"
  • When nominating an Ursaring to move from one rank to another, you are encouraged to list its qualities such as design, name implementation, quality, etc. If you think an Ursaring deserves to rise or drop, explain what has changed in the meta to cause such Ursaring to get better or worse.
  • When new Ursarings are released, please feel free to discuss the ranking of the new Ursarings or the rankings of Ursarings that are impacted by these developments.
  • Failure to follow these rules after warning(s) will result in me doing absolutely nothing.
  • If you are nominating an Ursaring to be ranked (meaning it was previously unranked), then you need to provide the base image of it to refer to, and you also should go out of your way to be as thorough as possible in explaining why it has a niche in the metagame (see the above example). If you are in doubt, then feel free to start a conversation with me on here to nominating an Ursaring and I will give you honest feedback on the post.
Blacklisted Ursarings: All posts regarding these Ursarings will have absolutely nothing done to them

  • Teddiursa -- Sure, it's in the Ursaring evolution line, but it's not related to Ursaring. Keep all rankings related to Ursaring and follow the rules while doing so.
  • N/A -- Let's try NOT to have this list grow too much this gen. We want all rankings related to Ursaring.

I am hoping for a productive discussion to take place in this thread throughout the generation. I am looking forward to seeing the metagame develop in front of our eyes; I find this to be a very cool prospect and it is one of the main reasons why I elect to run this thread. With this said, I am still only one person, so try not to make my life too hard here...post intelligently, lurk before commenting if you are new, and do not expect everything to be moderated super closely 24/7. I am volunteering my time and effort to maintain threads like these, so I expect a certain degree of respect and understanding of this.

Alolan Ursaring -> A+
Alolan Ursaring was an amazing addition to the Gen 7 Ursaring Metagame. With similar attacking prowess backed with strong abilities and a new part-Fighting typing, Alolan Ursaring has shown that it's here to stay as a premier Ursaring threat. It can even fight off the staple Johtonian Ursaring with STAB Close Combat!

I believe that this is the single best Ursaring in the metagame. It pairs well with (but can also act as a great check to) Ursauron, its ability, 'Invisibility', is great despite the health drain caused by it, and its complete mastery over the 19 other Ursarings is ridiculously strong. It can break Ursamwise and Frodoring with some chip damage, and it's stab combo hits everything else hard.

The only downsides are it's ability to get trapped by the River-Anduring, it's weakness to Ursildur, and - most importantly -
it's 4x weakness to fire.

However, make no mistake: these constitute but minor flaws among the Ursa-One-Ring's array of overwhelmingly powerful attributes.

This post is not about a bear... This post is about a bear's biggest fear... Ladybugs!

I'd like to nominate Ledyba for the S++ rank, the Ursaring University's equivalent to the Uber tier. After all, this ladybug is the only true Ursaring counter, outspeeding it and OHKO'ing with Comet Punch. After all, everybody knows Ledyba had godly stats.

I also heard Sunkern is a great counter to Kalosian Ursaring, but that might be a little off-topic.

While it's fighting stab is extremely good against all of the bears, it is widely outclassed by Galarian Ursaring.

I think Dizzy Ursaring also deserves a mention for S rank here.
It's signature move Teeter dance makes the opposing pokemon Dizzy, which will inevitably end up with two Dizzy Ursaring's.
Even if Dizzy Ursaring loses, it knows it's prolonged it's legacy by spreading it's dizziness.
 
Hello! I am currently modifying ranks for suggestions. Keep requesting if you want, but I will have to make a longer time to finish all my hard work!

In the meantime, I might have to suspect test Ursa-One-Ring, to make sure it isn't overpowered in the meta.

If you want to vote when the time comes, you MUST:
  • Have a username with "UOU" in it. The name "UOU Coolsaring" counts, but the name "Under Over Urchins" do not count.
  • The voting requirements are a minimum GXE of 80 with at least 50 games played. In addition, you may play 1 less game for every 0.2 GXE you have above 80 GXE, down to a minimum of 30 games at a GXE of 84. Also, needing more than 50 games to reach 80 GXE will suffice. (you can use inspect element I don't care haha)
Rules AND the Suspect Test may come when the time is ready. Thanks for listening!
