Hey everyone,
I'm pretty new to competitive Pokemon. Nevertheless, I was inspired by the team "The Art of U-Turn". However, I've always disliked using Pokemon everyone uses, which lead to my decision to play in the UU Tier.
This is a U-Turn team I've been playing around with. It's had moderate success but I hope to listen to what everyone else has to say about it.
At a Glance
Uxie @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Yawn
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Psychic
Description:
Uxie could be considered one of the best starters in both UU and OU. She is bulky enabling her to take many hits, almost guaranteeing stealth rocks to be set up against a non-taunter. Against common leads with Taunt, Uxie will use stab psychic to try to take it out and set the Stealth Rocks up later. Another option is to U-Turn out against those who resist Psychic and kill it with the appropriate counter.
Uxie's role after setting up stealth rocks is to Yawn set-up sweepers who may pose a dangerous threat to my team. Also, Uxie counter's the very common Venasaur in UU.
Scyther (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Aerial Ace
- Pursuit
- Quick Attack
Description:
Scyther's purpose on my team is to scout with it's fast speed and incredibly strong STAB'd U-Turn. Aerial Ace serves as my late game sweeping move, with a whopping 120 base power with Technician and Stab. Pursuit is used to kill the common ghost switch-ins on my Hitmontop. Lastly, Quick Attack is used to pick off any frail sweepers left on their team.
Dugtrio (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Sucker Punch
- Stone Edge
- Substitute
Description:
Dugtrio is my revenge killer, with Arena Trap and High Base speed, it allows me to kill the common threats in UU such as Rhyperior and Aggron. Earthquake is my STAB'ed move, ensures OHKO on Rhyperior and Aggron, 2HKO on special walls such as Chansey and Clefable. Sucker Punch will allow me to revenge kill anyone faster than me. Stone Edge goes along nicely with Earthquake, taking out any flying types that threaten my Dugtrio. Lastly, Substitute is for scouting and preventing any predicted Sucker Punch from opposing threats that could essentially OHKO my frail Dugtrio.
Hitmontop (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Rapid Spin
- Fake Out
- Mach Punch
- Foresight
Description:
Hitmontop is my reliable UU rapid spinner. Rapid Spin is used to clear Stealth Rocks which pose a huge threat to my late game sweeper. Fake Out with technician is free decent damage, and free Leftovers recovery. Mach Punch with Technician and STAB makes the move 80 base with priority, revenge killing and also dealing a good chunk of damage against those who are weak to fighting. I've decided to replace Pursuit with Foresight since Spiritombs are a common switch-in, with super effective Mach Punch.
Spiritomb (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Trick
- Shadow Sneak
- Sucker Punch
- Will-O-Wisp
Description:
Spiritomb is a great asset to the team. Against fakeout leads and rapid spinners, Spiritomb gets a free Will-O-Wisp on the switch-in. Late game, he can cripple a wall by tricking a Choice Scarf onto the opponent. Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch are for additional coverage.
Lanturn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP / 76 Def / 140 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Surf
- Discharge
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
Description:
Lanturn is my special wall, absorbing some of the most common special attacks (Fire Blast, Thunderbolt, Surf, Ice Beam). Surf is a reliable STAB move, taking out ground, rock, and fire pokemons. Discharge is preferred over Thunderbolt for the 30% paralysis for the common switch-ins, such as Venasaur. Ice Beam is a great coverage move, taking down grass and dragon Pokemons that pose a threat to Lanturn. Lastly, Toxic is my stall breaker.
All comments and advice will be taken into consideration and is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Fixes to my pokemon will be in BOLD
