SM OU TrickRoom

The Team

cresselia.gif
I took Cresselia to be my main trick room user.

cresselia.gifmarowak-alola.gif
Then I chose Alolan Marowak to be my main source of DPS. His good synergy with trick room and good synergy with a trick room team made him my first pick for damage

Magearna is my secondary trick room user while working on Special damage. His bulk allows me to use more trick rooms and to be way more agressive than with only cresselia.

Toxapex is the wall of the team. He tanks very well a lot of special threats. Landorus threatens him but cresselia covers well his ground weakness and allows me to have a safe switch.

Mega heracross is an awesome physical attacker, and is pretty slow. That makes him a good addition to a trick room team. And his weaknesses can be covered by other mons of the team like marowak for fire moves and magearna for fly/rock moves.

Latios is my defog user. He is also my 2nd special attacker and threatens fast fighting and dragon types when trick room isnt active.

Details

cresselia.gif
Cresselia @ Mental Herb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Ice Beam
- Moonlight
- Lunar Dance

I use ice beam to counter enemies landorus and other steath rock setters. Moonlight is to add some sustain and allow cresselia to put more trick rooms. Lunar Dance is to fully heal one of my main damage dealer, especially marowak.

marowak-alola.gif
Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Shadow Bone
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
- Bonemerang

No secrets for this set. Shadow bone is one if not the best physical ghost move in the game. It is resisted by very few pokemon in the game. Flare blitz is an awesome stab move and, with rock head, is an awesome move with no drawbacks. Bonemerang is a good way to break subs and deal good dmg. Swords dance is to use marowak as a stallbreaker.

magearna.gif
Magearna @ Steelium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Fleur Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon

I chose to make magearna very bulky with this ev spread to make him set more trick rooms. Volt switch is a good way to switch into marowak to deal some serious dmg. Steelium Z is used to threaten fairy types who resists flash cannon.

toxapex.gif
Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Haze
- Recover
- Toxic

I use haze to prevent enemies pokemons to setup on pex. Toxic has the same use but also to temporize more defensive mons. Scald is to dmg opposite mons and to try to burn physical mons like lopunny

heracross-mega.gif
Heracross-Mega @ Heracronite
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Rock Blast
- Close Combat
- Megahorn

Rock blast is a good move paired with skill link. It is able to deal good damage on mons who resists stabs. Bullet seed is a good way to go through water types and rain teams. Close combat is his most powerful stab move and is able to one shot heatran and tyranitar. Megahorn is a good move with insane power to deal with psychic types such as tapu lele and M charmina.

latios.gif
Latios @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Psychic
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball

I play a fast latios to have an option when the trick room is not active. Psychic allows him to hit toxapex really hard while draco meteor takes care of opposite dragon types. Shadow ball is a good move to deal with psychic and ghost mons

Hi Poilito, I have a couple of suggestions for your team! I love seeing people use TR and its one of my favorite ways to play! Here are the suggestions.

Toxapex -> Uxie
Toxapex does not make much sense here, if you send toxapex out your losing all momentum you had and are wasting valuable TR turns, also it would mean that another member of your team is going to have to take some chip/ a large hit when you switch out. Marowak and Heracross can deal with lopunny fine. Uxie allows the team to have a third TR setter (which I think most teams should have). Uxie, with the use of memento can also allow your attackers to come in very safely and not really care about whats in front of them. Your team also lacks Stealth Rock, and Uxie can often times get both Stealth Rock and Trick Room (and you may even get to keep Uxie depending on the opponents lead). Bronzong can also be used in this spot (using explosion instead of memento) but I usually find that Uxie is more reliable in more matchups than Bronzong because explosion doesn't offer the same benefits as memento most of the time.

Uxie @ Mental Herb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Magic Coat
- Stealth Rock
- Memento
- Trick Room

Latios -> Banded Scizor
Defog isn't really used in TR because it wastes valuable TR turns and often isn't necessary with the help of lunar dance on Cress and memento on Uxie. I understand the want for speed control on TR, because theoretically TR won't always be up, but I don't think using a whole team slot is the way to do it. I added Banded Scizor for a powerful technician boosted priority Bullet Punch to clock fairy types in the mouth. It also has knock off, which your team lacked, and U turn which is great for scaring out Ash Greninjas who have locked themselves into dark pulse. This is something I sorta whipped up on the spot and so far I'm really liking it.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Superpower

Steelium Z -> Electrium Z (Thunderbolt)
Steelium doesn't make much sense here, I find that having Electrium with thunderbolt is better. Electrium is used to nuke two of TR's most hated mons, Toxapex and especially Celesteela. Celesteela and other protect users DESTROY Trick Room due to them wasting turns. I swapped out Volt switch for thunderbolt so you can still have flash cannon. I have seen people run Fairium Z, but I've found that Electrium is the way to go, but it is something to consider.

Magearna @ Electrium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Fleur Cannon
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon

Thank you for your advices, gonna change that right away

737373elj Alolan Marowak is only used on Trick room teams, so that is the only time you will ever see the pokemon. It has a great ability in rock head which allows to marowak to use flare blitz without taking any recoil damage. It also has access to shadow bone, in OU their is no real switch in to physical ghost moves, so Marowak is able to hit a lot of pokemon for good damage. Bonemerang, because it hits twice breaks sturdy, focus sash, and substitute which is pretty nice. With an SD up you can 2HKO everything in the metagame I believe (not positive on that lol). Alolan Marowak can carry the thick club item which doubles its attack stat. Alolan Marowak has amazing attributes, but is held back by the fact that is has horrible speed, thats why it is only used on TR.
