SS OU Trick room

[Gen 8] TR

Melmetal @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Wall breaker

Stakataka @ Air Balloon
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 128 HP / 252 Atk / 128 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Superpower
- Gyro Ball
- Stone Edge
- Trick Room

Best user of Gyro ball

Hatterene (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick Room
- Dazzling Gleam
- Mystical Fire
- Psychic

Great Pokémon to start with. Love to use focus sash to give my self guaranteed TR, and the ability sometimes catches people off guard and they end up applying poison or spikes to themselves

Mimikyu @ Leftovers
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick Room
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Giga Drain

Mimikyu is one of my favorite TR setters, it’s ability gives it the power to almost always set TR without a worry that it could die.

Diancie @ Life Orb
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
- Trick Room
- Diamond Storm
- Moonblast
- Earth Power

I’ll be honest with this pick, I needed another TR setter and I didn’t know who to chose

Wishiwashi @ Choice Band
Ability: Schooling
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Flip Turn

Wishiwashi’s amazing stats and bulk, combined with a terrible 30 base speed make it a perfect Special Attacker and check to common fire treats like heatran or volcarona

Please feel free to send feedback. I’m newer to making teams, so feedback is always appreciated.

Hey walloutlet, would have appreciate a little more detailled description, but I can understand that it's hard to explain your choices when you're new to the game. Anyway, I'll give you a short rate and a few tips.

Trick Room is a very codified playstyle in SS OU, mainly because there's a few staples you can't really replace. Melmetal and Hatterene are among these staples, but the rest of the team is a bit off. Wishiwashi is pretty bad, even with Trick Room as it's rather easy to wall, and Mimikyu is a bad Trick Room setter, despite having Disguise, because it is unable to pivot after setting up a Trick Room and don't benefit from it much due to its low offensive stats. Diancie and Stakataka are niche picks who could work but are not optimal choices.

:wishiwashi: -> :marowak-alola:

You really don't want to run a Choice Band on a mixed attacker, but I think you should just replace Wishiwashi by a more efficient Trick Room wallbreaker. Marowak Alola is undeniably a top-2 Trick Room abuser with Melmetal and is in my opinion mandatory in a Trick Room team. Here is the classic set you can run:

:ss/marowak-alola:
Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Swords Dance / Shadow Bone
- Flare Blitz
- Poltergeist
- Earthquake

:mimikyu: -> :porygon2:

Porygon-2 is one the best Trick Room setter in the game because of its high bulk due to eviolite and its access to Teleport, meaning you'll get a free and safe switch-in to one of your wallbreakers. It's way more efficient than Mimikyu as a Trick room setter and can set up Trick Room multiple times in a game while dealing with some annoying offesnive threats (like Dragapult). Here is a set you can use in a Trick Room team:

:ss/porygon2:
Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Recover
- Trick Room
- Teleport
- Foul Play / Ice Beam

:diancie: -> :cresselia:

Cresselia is another Trick Room staple, which can set a Trick Room against almost anything due to its stupidly high bulk, and Lunar Dance into something, letting you heal something like Melmetal and take full advantage of the Trick Room you've just set up. Diancie can't pivot and won't do much damage under Trick Room due to its very low offensive stats. You'll have to hard switch something or you'll waste your Trick Room turns. Here is the Cresselia set you should try:

:ss/cresselia:
Cresselia (F) @ Colbur Berry / Mental Herb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Lunar Dance
- Ice Beam
- Moonlight

:hatterene:

Hatterene is a very good choice and should be your lead 90% of the time because you'll have a free Trick Room thanks to its sash and you prevent Rocks and other hazards (but also stuff like Taunt) with Magic Bounce (just don't lead with it when there's a Melmetal in the opposing team because of Double Iron Bash). I would just change the set to have either Healing Wish or Misty Explosion, in order to be able to let a better breaker come in once you've set the Trick Room. You can remove Dazzling Gleam for instance.

:stakataka:

You can keep it, but may struggle against similar Pokemon than Melmetal. There's other Pokemon that you can try in this slot like Golurk, Crawdaunt... basically any slow and strong wallbreakers who can easily claim kills under Trick Room. I would also go with something like Heat Crash over Trick Room because you already have enough Trick Room setters.

This is an example of what the modified version would be (you could try stuff like Specially defensive Porygon and Physically defensive Cresselia):

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe

- Foul Play

Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Mystical Fire
- Healing Wish

Cresselia (F) @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Lunar Dance
- Ice Beam
- Moonlight

Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Poltergeist
- Earthquake

Melmetal @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
