Trapinch, Sudowoodo and...Xatu? Simply put- I'm insane.

Hi, I'm a new member here, so I hope I don't make any mistakes posting...

Anyways...

I'm more of a casual Pokemon player myself. I don't really think much about building a team to win, I just use my favorite Pokemon. Of course, since most of my favorite Pokemon suck, I'm usually at a huge disadvantage. Still, I do try to make the best of them. Most of the movesets and strategies I use were obviously tested on Shoddybattle before I got the Pokemon on my game, so I know that this team works at least somewhat.

The main theme of my team is "Power through obscurity." Simply put, I use UU Pokemon, so therefore people have less experience fighting against them. Of course, this really doesn't help if my opponent has some godly combination of pokes that my team can't handle. ><

So here's my team!

@Focus Sash
Ability: Vital Spirit
EV's: 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Jolly
-Close Combat
-Ice Punch
-Earthquake
-Payback

Primeape is my favorite lead. It's becoming common for people to lead using something with Hypnosis, and Vital Spirit makes that completely ineffective. If your opponent leads with a Special Wall Bronzong, Primeape can 2-hit-KO it with Close Combat, which is cool. Primeape also has decent type coverage. For example, common leads like Tyranitar and and Abomasnow are scared away by a potential Close Combat, and Ice Punch brings the pain to Garchomp and Salamence. Ice Punch also puts a decent dent in Gliscor, which opponents may switch into Primeape in an attempt to wall him. It even does a large chunk of damage to Roserade. Many Roserade users will try to put you to sleep, but like stated earlier, Vital Spirit makes that useless. Earthquake is really just there to smack Metagross for decent damage. Payback may seem like a stupid move, but it actually works fairly well for a a leading Primeape. Example, Azelf and Gengar are both killed in one hit provided Primeape is slower. Since most Azelf, Gengar, and Deoxys-S leads have all their EV's into Speed and Attack stats, Payback would most likely kill them. I could use an Adamant nature to guarantee the KO, but without Jolly, Primeape cannot outspeed Adamant Garchomp and Salamence.

@Focus Sash
Ability: Synchronize
EV's: 252 Attack / 252 HP / 4 Defense
Brave
-Quick Attack
-Sucker Punch
-U-Turn
-Trick Room

This is a physical Xatu. It sounds retarded, but Xatu's job isn't to sweep. It's to set up Trick Room. Equipping it with a Focus Sash helps it get the chance to use it. I find that most teams are completely screwed up by Trick Room, and this works to my team's advantage. For example, with a Brave Nature and 0 Speed IV's, Xatu has a measly 175 speed. After setting up, try to smack your opponent for as much damage as possible. U-Turn is really just there to hurt Celebi, and by using this set, Xatu has 273 attack, which is just enough to bring the pain to that retarded legendary. Xatu probably won't be able to survive to use Trick Room a second time, so I really have to make the first one count. Also note that Quick Attack is useful for killing opposing Sash users. Sucker Punch can also accomplish the same thing, but that's there to hurt ghosts and other annoying things.

@Focus Sash
Ability: Rock Head
EV's: 252 Attack / 126 Defense /126 Sp. Def / 4 HP
Brave
-Wood Hammer
-Sucker Punch
-Counter
-Explosion

This shows how retarded I am. I use Sudowoodo. It may seem silly not having Stone Edge, but it's a waste. Every person you fight expects Sudowoodo to have Stone Edge, so they'll just switch into something that can wall you, like Cresselia or Swampert. However, as long as Trick Room is in effect, Sudowoodo can kill both of these and more. With this set, and 0 Speed IV's, Sudowoodo has 58 Speed, which makes him faster then nearly everything. If you predict Earthquakes, use Counter. If you think a Pokemon is going to set up with rocks or something, Explode. If Cresselia's giving you a hard time, blow the shit out of her as well. As for Swampert, he's in for a big surprise when you Wood Hammer him in the face. Rock Head negates the recoil damage, which is flat out awesome. This set can also deal with things like Garchomp very well. For example, just Counter his Earthquakes or Explode if he tries to use Swords Dance. After you have one HP left, try to get one last cheap shot with Sucker Punch.

@Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EV's: 252 Attack / 252 HP / 4 Sp. Def
Brave
-Ice Shard
-Spikes
-Rapid Spin
-Explosion

I use Cloyster for three things. The first thing I use her for is to blow away nasty Stealth Rocks and Spikes. Secondly, she's there to scare off Garchomp and Salamence. Most likely, the opposing trainer will switch their Garchomp and Salamence out at the risk of getting killed by an ice attack. I can use that time to set up with spikes of my own. Thirdly, she's there to utterly DESTROY Gyarados. Simply switch Cloyster into Gyarados. Most Gyarados users know that Cloyster cannot hurt Gyarados, so they'll use that time to Dragon Dance. That gives you an opportunity to Spike the field, then explode. With Trick Room in effect, this becomes very easy. You should also note that this Cloyster has 317 Att, which is much higher then most people expect it to have. In fact, with that much attack, you can also use Cloyster to blow up in Cresselia's face. With so many people using Cresselia these days, this is a lifesaver.

@Leftovers
Ability:White Smoke
EV's: 252 HP / 252 Defense / 4 Sp. Def
Bold
-Lava Plume
-Will-o-Wisp
-Sealth Rock
-Explosion

Torkoal is simply a hilarious Pokemon. No one uses him since he dies in one Surf, but he has his uses. For example, Torkoal utterly RAPES Weavile. What can Weavile do against Torkoal anyway? Torkoal resists Ice Punch, and with over 400 Defense, he laughs at Weaville's Night Slash. When I switch Torkoal into Weavile, I usually use Will-o-Wisp. Why Will-o-Wisp you ask? That's because your opponent will most likely switch, since Weavile can't hurt Torkoal and they'll be afraid of Torkoal's fire attacks. Whatever your opponent sends out won't like being burned, especially Garchomp and Salamence. However, your opponent might switch into Heatran. In that case, kiss your butt goodbye. Still, that situation doesn't happen all that often. Torkoal also is an excellent way to deal with Dusknoir. Dusknoirs are usually always physical based and have Will-o-Wisp. However, with Torkoal's huge Defense and Fire typing, he's immune to both burns and Dusknoir's Shadow Sneak and Focus Punch. Of course, Torkoal's overall effectiveness is greatly increased with Trick Room. With Trick Room in effect, he can take on the likes of Metagross, Defense based Bronzong, Heracross, Breloom, and nearly every Ice type Pokemon with no problem. And if worst comes to worst, you can explode in people's faces.

@Focus Sash
Ability:Arena Trap
EV's: 252 Attack
Brave
-Earthquake
-Crunch
-Quick Attack
-Flail

Trapinch is, by far, the most retarded entry in my team. He's also the core of my team, and he's very important. What makes Trapinch so awesome is his ability, Arena Trap. Let's say my opponent has Jolteon or Magnezone out, and I have Cloyster. If you predict a Thunderbolt, switch into Trapinch and laugh as the Thunderbolt does absolutely nothing. After that, your opponent will be unable to run from Trapinch, so you get a free kill with Earthquake. If they have a Sash, then just use Quick Attack right after. Of course, using Trapinch against anything other then an electric type requires Trick Room. After I successfully get Trick Room up and running, Trapinch becomes a beast. In fact, after Trick Room, I like switching Trapinch into Heatran. Trapinch will kill Heatran in one hit, and it's hilarious. After Trick Room, Trapinch also does decent damage to Tyranatar and Metagross with Earthquake. He also hurts frail Ghosts like Froslass and Gengar for tons of damage with Crunch. This also works for rampant Psychics like Deoxys-S. And of course, once Trapinch has killed an enemy Pokemon, chances are he'll have only 1 HP left because of his Focus Sash. After that, you can use Flail on your opponent's next Pokemon for MASSIVE DAMAGE. Seriously, Flail kills most types of Heracross in a single hit. Because you really need 1 HP for Flail to work, my Trapinch has very low Defense and Special Defense IV's. Also, he has no EV's in his Defenses and HP. Also, due to Trapinch's freakishly low speed, the only Pokemon that can outspeed Trapinch in Trick Room conditions is Shuckle. I know using Trapinch sounds retarded, especially since he can evolve into 2 more stages. However, even though he hasn't evolved, Trapinch has over 320 Attack, which is pretty scary. I think the best thing that ever came out of this Trapinch was that I managed to beat LonelyNess with it. Great match by the way Ness.

Sorry for the massive wall of text, but comments and opinions would be appreciated. :P

May I ask how Xatu sets up Trick Room without having it? >___> I'm guessing it's in place of the second Sucker Punch...

Anyway, you have a lot of Focus Sashers. That's way too much for the OU environement, especially with so many Sandstreamers and Abomasnows running around. You might want to either fix that, or just play UU with this team...

*slaps self*

Fixed. ;P

Sandstorm is thankfully more common then Hail, and both Trapinch and Sudowoodo are immune. Sandstorm really doesn't bother me much, but hail certainly does. Having no way to clear the skies, that limits my team.

Come to think of it though, I don't see as many Abomasnow leads as I used to.

It's more fun to use UU in OU. It's hilarious.

If this is for OU then this won't last. You have 4 Pokemon with Focus Sash, when 90% of todays leads set up Stealth Rock.

You also have a bunch of slow ass Pokemon with only 1 Trick Roomer. At least swap out something for Banette.
