Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch / Mach Punch
- Brick Break / Earthquake
- Poison Jab / Gunk Shot
[Set Comments]
The Toxicroak set in its core essence is meant to be a revenge killer first and a mid to late game sweeper if given the chance also having the tools to wallbreak certain threats in the metagame such as Toxapex. Toxicroak's moveset allows it to revenge kill a threat that has been significantly chipped down by another mon like Lead Kommo-o or SR Coballion by way of its priority move choice of either Bullet Punch or Mach Punch. Each one serving a seperate niche. Bullet Punch being used to hit fairy types harder while Mach Punch is a much stronger priority attack thanks to its STAB. However, care must be taken as to when to bring Toxicroak out, as it has a 4x weakness to psychic type moves and its staggering weakness to ground type moves.
Thanks to its ability Dry Skin, with a successful prediction. It can be safely brought in against choice locked pokemon like Dracovish or Barraskewda, both of which enjoy using water STAB's to hit hard against most of the metagame. It can also Swords Dance against any choice locked pokemon using a water type move. Ensuring a free two increases in attack stage which can be used to sweep entire teams in the late game sometimes. Poison Jab is its Poison typed STAB, alternatively one could try using Gunk Shot if they feel like they can manage it's 70% accuracy rate. It does well against certain threats like Toxapex, being one of the best wallbreakers against Toxapex in the Fighting type roster. Being immune to toxic thanks to its typing and shrugging off scalds with its Dry Skin. It is free to swords dance against Toxapex and then subsequently 1HKO or 2 HKO it with Earthquake. Alternatively, one could run Brick Break for teams which utilizes screens as part of their metagame. Such as Double Screens Grimmsnarl or Aurora Veil Alolan Ninetails.
