With huge defensive stats and Regenerator, Toxapex is one of OU's premier walls, utilizing Assault Vest to switch into special attacks from powerful threats like Gholdengo and Volcarona. This naturally high bulk allows it to run an offensive set that beats setup Substitute users that take advantage of more passive sets, with Surf and Sludge Bomb as strong STAB moves that deal decent damage to Pokemon like Hydreigon, Iron Valiant, and Iron Moth. Infestation lets Toxapex trap and wear down foes like Scream Tail and Dondozo that can't deal much damage back. Acid Spray can be used to beat trapped foes faster by lowering their Special Defense, while Ice Beam serves as coverage for Dragonite and Garchomp. Tera Fairy allows Toxapex to wall Dragon-types like Walking Wake and Hydreigon. Physically defensive Pokemon like Dondozo and Corviknight make great teammates, as Assault Vest Toxapex can't reliably take physical hits. Toxapex also appreciates physical attackers like Roaring Moon and Great Tusk that are able to remove specially defensive Pokemon like Slowking and opposing Toxapex.
