Learned Moves:

Poison Sting @ Lv. 1
Bite @ Lv. 1
Peck @ Lv. 1
Wide Guard @ Lv. 1
Venoshock @ Lv. 15
Recover @ Lv. 20
Pin Missile @ Lv. 25
Toxic Spikes @ Lv. 30
Liquidation @ Lv. 35
Acid Spray @ Lv. 42
Poison Jab @ Lv. 49
Toxic @ Lv. 56

TM Moves:
Body Slam, Hydro Pump, Surf, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Hyper Beam, Rest, Substitute, Protect, Scary Face, Sludge Bomb, Icy Wind, Endure, Sleep Talk, Rain Dance, Facade, Iron Defense, Mud Shot, Water Pulse, Toxic Spikes, Poison Jab, Giga Impact, Gunk Shot, Venoshock, Acid Spray, Hex, Liquidation, Tera Blast, Ice Spinner, Pounce, Chilling Water

Pros:
- Water/Poison is amazing defensively, offering Toxapex resistances against common types in the tier such as Fighting- and Ice-types.
- Toxapex, with its 152/142 Defense stats, makes it a very good wall, both physically and specially, although it has a very low HP stat.
- Toxapex, thanks to its access to Toxic Spikes, Baneful Bunker, and Toxic, makes it a great status spreader, serving as support for breakers and sweepers that appreciate hard-to-defeat tanks and walls getting crippled.
- Toxapex has one of the best longevity in the metagame thanks to its access to Regenerator and Recover.

Cons:
- Toxapex lost two of its most important moves in the transition to Generation IX, Scald and Knock Off, damaging its overall utility.
- Toxapex has poor offensive potential due to its horrible offensive stats, meaning it has to often rely on status spreading for its damage output

Terastal Potential:
- Due to its defensive nature, Toxapex isn't really a good Terastal user, although Poison-type Terastal may be used in order to make Sludge Bomb more threatening. Tera-Poison also removes its weakness to Electric types, as well as turning its neutral type matchup against Grass-types into a resistance.

Potential Set:
The Pex 3.0
Toxapex @ Rocky Helmet / Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Recover
- Haze
- Toxic Spikes / Toxic

This is the same set from Sword and Shield, but the first slot has changed to Sludge Bomb due to the removal of both Scald and Knock Off, two of Toxapex's most reliable moves from the last two generations, as well as in order to threaten common Grass-types such as Meowscarada. A max investment in both HP and Defense allows Toxapex to absorb damage from physical attackers such as physical Dragapult, Meowscarada, and Roaring Moon.

Overall, Toxapex has taken a hit in viability from last generation due to its loss of Scald and Knock Off, as well as the emergence of brand new Pokémon that can threaten it such as both Paradox Donphans. It has also taken a slight hit due to the recent ban of Palafin, which it could easily handle. Overall, how do you think one of OU's most important defensive Pokémon in the last few generations fare in Gen IX, and how serious do you think the loss of Scald and Knock Off are? Feel free to discuss below!

I'd consider slashing Venoshock with Sludge Bomb. It does more damage if the target is Poisoned (matters for neutral hits) and it's not like you can do much else.

This this is kind of underrated right now mostly because things aren't prepared for it. Very good against other fat teams like dondozo clodsire stuff, absorbs toxic spikes, chilling water is kinda cool, baneful bunker can be good with a lot of contact moves going around

I loved this Pokémon (in the past.) The missing of scald really hurts, if a steel Pokémon appears or poison then Toxapex will die. Also recover is nerved to only 5 pp (or 8 max), because of this poison isn't fast enough, you might run out of pp for recover. Certainly if the opponent can also recover. What will happen if two Toxapexes with this moveset are against each other?

Pex is kinda meh right now, but at least it can beat Quaquaval in a 1v1 possibly if it doesn't have brave bird

Is Chilling Water worth considering? Easily a huge step down from Scald, but if you're going to be trying to stall with Toxic (not sure why, given the nerf to Recover) it might be worth trying to lower their attack. If running a Toxic Spikes set this could potentially force a switch

It surely is, however you will cry when you hit with it a Defiant Kingambit or Competitive Kilowattrel.

Toxapex has really fallen off. It's vulnerability to Taunt/passiveness and the amount of entry hazards that are around really shut it down. It is also way easier to switch into due to not having to worry about being burned. There are also a lot of pokemon in the tier that toxapex can hardly touch like Steel/Poison types.

I haven't really run into Pex, but I saw there being some talk of some Infestation / Toxic / Recover / Filler (I think Haze or Baneful Bunker) which is basically Heatran at home in its ability to inflict a lot of passive damage.

Yeah trapping is one of the only things Toxapex can do better than the other bulky waters.
