Tornadus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane
- Weather Ball
- Tailwind
- Protect
This Tornadus set was a key member of OSDT Champion Nido-Rus's rain team. The combination of Prankster Tailwind, excellent Speed, and a great offensive typing has led to it seeing increased usage throughout the tournament. Being able to set a faster Tailwind than Naganadel and move before Zeraora's Taunt make it one of the most reliable forms of speed control in the metagame. STAB Hurricane hits the likes of Rillaboom and Urshifu-R very hard while there are not many checks that can switch in safety. Hurricane's downsides of being inaccurate and not being able to hit Heatran are washed away when rain is active. Rain also lets Tornadus use a Water-type Weather Ball to beat the aforementioned Heatran, as well as Incineroar and Diancie. This Tornadus set fits best on rain teams, where it benefits from Pelipper's Drizzle and in return gives Tailwind support to rain attackers like Urshifu-R. Tornadus excels as a lead, as it can set up Tailwind early on and start supporting its teammates while also firing off powerful Hurricanes.
