SS OU Toads And Ovens (Balance)

:seismitoad: :rotom-heat: :hydreigon: :corviknight: :conkeldurr: :clefable:
Hello, everyone! Welcome back to another RMT. The core with Seismitoad and Rotom Heat seemed appealing to me as Rotom deals with Seismitoads prominent checks such as Rotom Mow and Corviknight. Seismitoad also deals with Rotoms prominent checks such as Excadrill and Dracovish. Balance has been a good playstyle in OU so far and I would like to know your opinions on this team. Let's get started!

TEAM ANALYSIS
seismitoad (1).gif

The team starts with the great Seismitoad. Its role is to be a Stealth Rocker while checking Pokemon like Dracovish and maintaining pressure for the team with Scald, Earth Power and Toxic. While people may think Seismitoad is less usable because of Dracovish being dropped, it's solid bulk and utility makes it splashable on any balance team. It has trouble dealing with Pokemon like Corviknight, so it's time to give this toad some team support!

rotom-heat.gif

Rotom Heat forms a great core with Seismitoad and checks common grass types like Rotom Mow and Ferrothorn. On contrary to Seismitoad, it benefits more from Dracovish dropping, making this core less troublesome. Clefable has also recently moved into S tier, making it more of a threat, thus making Rotom more beneficial. It's also a great pivot with Volt Switch that gives momentum for its teammates. The oven likes to cook its food, after all!

hydreigon.gif

Hydreigon is a great Pokemon that gives alot of resists to any team and can be a strong wallbreaker with Nasty Plot or a revenge killer with Choice Scarf. It can be a threat to Pokemon like Dragapult and other Hydreigons which are a threat to this core. It also has a decent movepool in Draco Meteor, U-Turn and coverage moves like FireBlast which can be useful. Hydreigon is always a great Pokemon, and it's rise says so!

Corviknight_F.gif

Corviknight is one of the best hazard controls in the meta and is very splashable. It's great typing also makes Corviknight a defensive backbone. It gets a ton of utility moves such as Taunt, Defog, Roost, U turn, etc. that makes Corviknight a great Pokemon. It also deals with Pokemon such as Conkeldurr and opposing Seismitoads, as well as itself. Corviknight adds extra momentum while making a good core with Seismitoad as well!

conkeldurr.gif

Conkeldurr is an amazing wallbreaker that lots of Pokemon will have trouble switching into. Although slow, it can pivot in nicely with VoltTurn from Corviknight and Rotom. This allows it to gain its Flame Orb boost, making it a great Pokemon on the team with it's great typing. Mach Punch can also hit Pokemon like Excadrill and Hydreigon hard, which makes it a decent revenge killer in some occasions!

clefable (1).gif

Clefable is the final spot on the team and is a great wishpasser. It can also deal with Pokemon such as Life Orb Clefable which could be a problem. It keeps the core (and the rest of the team) alive so it could continue to weaken the team while staying healthy if Clefable is in good condition. It can also cure status moves with Aromatherapy and can use Wish + Protect to heal itself. I used this over Sylveon because it grants a more offensive presence to the team!

Toxic
Seismitoad is a decent physical wall that will tank the most out of physical attackers like Conkeldurr with Scald to burn opponents and Earth Power to hit pokemon harder and possibly get a Special Defense drop. It is also one of the few Pokemon this Toxic, making it very useful. Water Absorb gives immunity to Dracovish, making it great to use. 4 special attack EVs are for stacking damage with Toxic/dealing additional damage. Leftovers increase its longevity as a wall.

Will-O-Wisp
Rotom Heat is a great Nasty Plotter that can kill Pokemon like Clefable and Corsola with a strong STAB boosted Overheat. Volt Switch is really great for pivotting and hits Pokemon such as unboosted Gyarados and Pelipper. Will-O-Wisp is an option for burning physical attackers that try to hit it. Heavy Duty Boots, although Defog Corviknight is used on the team, is used to prevent hazard damage which ruins all of its pivotting. It's ability, Levitate, is also really great for negating its ground weakness unless you're facing a Mold Breaker Excadrill. It is also walled by Seismitoad, so in comes Hydreigon to help the core.

U-turn
Hydreigon is the speed control of the team with control and has very strong STAB moves in Dark Pulse and Draco Meteor. Thunder Wave can be useful for paralyzing threats on switch-in thus making them weaker. U-Turn is another move used for pivotting and gaining momentum. Like Rotom Heat, it also has access to Levitate which gives it ground immunity, but dosent benefit much from Excadrill like Rotom does. I chose this as a revenge killer over a Nasty Plot set because it can outspeed Dragapult which can be a threat to the core.

U-turn
Corviknight provides hazard control for the team and is one of the top tier Pokemon in the metagame for its versatility and decent typing. It can use Roost to increase its longevity. Brave Bird is used for chip damage and can hit Pokemon like Conkeldurr. U-Turn also makes it a slow pivotter. Max special defense are recommended for Hatterene using Mystical Fire, Pelipper, etc. and 20 speed can outspeed or speed tie with opposing Corviknights so you can U-Turn out faster. Pressure is recommended for PP stalling out the opponent, whilst Mystical Fire allows you to lower Hatterene and Sylveons special attack while spamming Roost, allowing you to potentionally force them out.

Earthquake
Bulk Up Conkeldurr is a great slow wallbreaker that can hit very hard to Pokemon that dont resist its moves. Drain Punch increases its longevity, while Mach Punch is used for Priority STAB. Earthquake is it's best coverage move that hits Ghost and Fairy types such as Aegislash and Hatterene. Slow pivotting into Conkeldurr is good, as you get to activate Flame Orb safer. Max speed is used to outspeed Pokemon such as Sylveon. It also works great with Thunder Wave support from Hydreigon, as you get to outspeed more threats such as Clefable.

Protect
Clefable is the wish passer of the team and can check most special attackers this metagame. Aromatherapy is great for curing status for the team. Despite having bad synergy with Flame Orb Conkeldurr, it can cure other status ailments from it, especially Toxic and Thunder Wave. Wish is the main center of this Pokemon, as it's used for keeping the team alive as well as using Wish + Protect to heal itself. It's EVs are used to take more from physical damage. It's ability, Magic Guard, also makes it immune to Toxic, Sandstorm, and hazards, making Clefable have more utility without taking additional damage.

Well, that's the team, guys! Let me know what you thought of this cool-looking balance team I made around the core. Seismitoad has been a fun Pokemon to use this generation and I hope it stays relevant!

Hello!

Really solid team, though there are a few things I would change on this team. These are going to be very minor changes because I don't see a lot wrong with this team, anyway here are my suggestions.

Minor Changes
:clefable:

So the first change I would have make is with Clefable. Now to be honest, Aromatherapy feels really out of place, especially when you have Conkeldurr on your team, as you said, this is bad synergy, and the problem is that you will have to either have to switch Conk in to get the burn from Flame Orb, or if you get a free switch you'll have to wait another turn until you get burned. Both of these are risky and can wear down your Conk. So I would recommend this.

Thunder Wave > Aromatherapy

This is a really handy change, as it can open doors for your team. Thunder Wave is a really great move, and gives much needed speed control by slowing down threatening mons like Dragapult, Gengar or Hydreigon. This not only gives much more utility than Aromatherapy would, but makes your offensive powerhouses, being Conkeldurr, Hydreigon and Rotom-H much more threatening as a result.

:hydreigon:

Second change I would have to make would have to be Hydreigon. Choice Scarf is a great set, especially for speed control as you can threaten stuff like Dragapult & Aegislash really hard. However my problem would have to be Thunder Wave. I feel like a move like this does not fit, and the reason why I think this is because you are using Hydreigon as a scarfer, which is already your form of speed control, and second of all since the 2 Fairies, Clefable and Sylveon are everywhere, you'll need a second way to theaten them, so my suggestion will be.

Flash Cannon > Thunder Wave

Flash Cannon is what I would suggest over Thunder Wave, as with this, your Hydreigon can threaten a larget variety of Pokemon and thus can threaten more teams as a result. Flash Cannon is a guarenteed 3HKO on Sylveon so it can't switch in more than once, and that's the same with Clefable if its SpDef.

Hope this helps! :psyglad:

idt Flash Cannon helps here, U-Turn would be better, and Clef def does not get 2hko'd if it's spdef, plus Sylveon has wish ;-;
