Introduction

Do I even need to tell you guys who I am at this point? Anyway, it's been a pretty long time since I last did an RMT, with my last one being for a Mega Pidgeot team. Yeah, now that thing's being suspected up in UU because it's so crazy good. But I digress. A lot of things have happened since then and RU has changed a hell of a lot. This is a team that I started working with early in June, and I've had a lot of fun with it. I feel it really shines the light on a threat that really isn't used that much in RU because most feel it's outclassed. Aside from that one Pokemon, I also discovered a few other fun things along the way while using this team. All in all, it's not the best team you'll ever see, but it is one that is just fun to use because it doesn't use all the "common types" of Pokemon. And before I get into this in-depth, I will apologize in advance for all the Xenoblade Chronicles references I will likely make through this. (not counting the nicknames btw) If you haven't played the game, you should. Or at least check out a Let's Play of it. The game's amazing. Anyway, it's RMT time!

Shulk (Samurott) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 29 HP / 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Taunt
- Grass Knot

Ah, Samurott. The reason I made this team in the first place. Special Samurott is very underrated and a lot of people write it off as a worse Clawitzer. However, Samurott has quite a few things over Clawitzer. Perhaps the biggest thing would lie in its base Speed. Base 70 is so good right now in RU. Being able to get the jump on Scrafty, Clawitzer, Modest Exploud, and Adamant Emboar is very cool. Hydro Pump is Samurott's main STAB and the opposition will really be feeling it after taking a hit from that. Just so you can appreciate the power, Samurott does 50.7% minimum to 252 HP / 4 SDef Uxie. Ice Beam breaks down Grass- and Dragon-types hoping to handle Hydro Pump. However, with the exception of Druddigon and Tangrowth, you'll have to catch them on the switch-in. Show them that you can change their future! Taunt is nice to slow down defensive Pokemon that Samurott can't immediately break through. It's especially nice for Mega Audino and Bronzong. Grass Knot finishes the set by removing the likes of Jellicent, Alomomola, and Seismitoad, all of which are safe against most other Water-types. With them out of your way, there's Delphox can't lose! The EVs maximize Samurott's Special Attack and Speed stats with a Modest nature to make the opponents feel the power even more. Life Orb is used because Samurott must be even stronger and KO as many foes as possible. Torrent allows Samurott to show its Battle Soul and hit super hard just before it goes down.

Melia (Delphox) (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Switcheroo

Delphox is very technical. She picks her spots and supports her team by revenge killing most faster threats before possibly going in for major damage late-game. Fire Blast is Delphox's main attack and her strongest weapon against the foe most times. Psychic is a reliable STAB move to use and is nice for when you can't afford to be reckless and miss. Dazzling Gleam will leave opposing Scrafty and Flygon broken down and eliminated before they can even react to what's coming. Switcheroo finishes the set by giving Delphox some much needed utility against more defensive teams which she would much rather mix up her attacks with. The EVs maximize Delphox's offensive presence and Speed. Delphox is kind of squishy, so you'll want to balance out revenge killing dangerous threats and late-game cleaning to get the most use out of her. With a Choice Scarf equipped, Delphox will have the power to protect her friends from faster adversaries.

Dunban (Virizion) @ Black Belt
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

Virizion may have fallen from grace a little bit due to the rise of Tangrowth and Cobalion, but that doesn't mean it's going to give up. Just because there are some better Pokemon for its roles doesn't mean Virizion lacks any use. Being able to comprise 2 roles into 1 teamslot is something not a lot of Pokemon can say. Swords Dance boosts Virizion's Attack to incredible levels and prepares it to make the opponent face its fury. Leaf Blade cuts apart the opposition with no drawbacks or high risks involved. You mustn't be careless, but sometimes, you just have to be reckless and go in with an all out assault with Close Combat. It's Virizion's strongest attack and is backed up by Black Belt to allow the power to flow through it more. Stone Edge rounds off the set by allowing Virizion to take down top threats, such as Delphox and Sigilyph. As Virizion wants to cause high damage and be very quick, Attack and Speed are maximized. As the team has a cleric, Black Belt is used so Virizion stays sharp and focused with its powerful Close Combats.

Heropon (Flygon) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 116 Def / 116 SpD / 28 Spe
Careful Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- U-turn
- Earthquake

Flygon can do just about anything you want it to do. For this team, Flygon must take hits and remove hazards set by enemy. Defog removes entry hazards and allows the team to play more freely. Roost give Flygon health back so it can tank more hits from enemies when it is called upon. U-turn is very cool and allows Flygon to build and maintain momentum for the team. Great for transitioning from defense to offense. Earthquake ensures Flygon can hold its own against the threats it's supposed to handle. Delphox, Houndoom, Mega Camerupt, and Jolteon all Topple over and faint. The EVs are little complex, but allow Flygon to do many things. The defensive EVs let Flygon take beating from Delphox, Houndoom, and Drapion and still survive to finish them off. 28 Speed EVs let Flygon outpace Adamant Tyrantrum and hit it quite hard with EQ or utilize U-turn to let Bronzong tank the hit.

Reyn Time (Bronzong) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake

Bronzong is just that loud bell you hear all the time and want to stop. But it's just so persistent and stubborn that it won't. Stealth Rock allows Bronzong to make opposing Fire- and Flying-types feel the pain just from switching in. The opponent will go Berserk if Bronzong catches their precious Jellicents and Alomomolas with Toxic, hindering them with some useful damage over time. Gyro Ball allows Bronzong to go on the offensive and take it to the likes of Tyrantrum, Flygon, and Meloetta. Earthquake makes Fire-types realize that it's their time to go down, not Bronzong's. The EVs let Bronzong shield the team from many special attacks while also being able to defend itself in most situations. Bronzong may be slow, but it will be there to keep on taking hits no matter what until the very end.

Sharla (Togetic) (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Super Luck
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Roost
- Thunder Wave
- Heal Bell

Any balance team needs a cleric and Togetic is here to provide that. She may not cause a lot of damage, but her job is taking care of and supporting the team. Dazzling Gleam allows Togetic to defend herself and hit the likes of Scrafty and Hitmonlee for serious damage. Roost allows her to stay healthy and keep the team free of status ailments. Thunder Wave allows Togetic to slow down the opposition and ensure they can't attack the team at will. Heal Bell cures the team of any status ailments the team is suffering from and allows them to function at their best once more. As Togetic is all about support, a defensive EV spread is used to ensure she can handle attacks from opponents as she supports the team. As Defog is not on this set, Togetic is free to run Super Luck as her ability to sometimes cripple the enemy with a Critical Hit from Dazzling Gleam, which can make up for her low power at times.

Shoutouts

It's my 2k post, so of course I got some people to give shoutouts too. You didn't think I made it here all by myself did you?
Molk: You've been great to work with. You've always wanted my best and while I may not always present that, I try my hardest to do so. I may not be around quite as much as I used to be, but we still talk on a regular enough basis in one way or another haha. And you actually got into Smash too. 2 pro.
SilentVerse: Idgaf if you quit mons for League, you're still getting #2 shoutout. Deal with it. You always were able to understand what I was thinking better than most others and I always appreciated that. It's too bad you're not around much anymore, but you're a pretty big part of the reason why I am the way I am today. So thanks!
atomicllamas: You're tacky and your song taste is dreadful. In all seriousness though, I can always get a laugh listening to what you have to say. No matter how serious we may get when we're battling, it's nice to go back to some relaxing humor every now and then and nobody really does it better than you.
Arikado: Let's be honest here, you kinda covered me in terms of QC stuff while I was on my LoA earlier this year. At least you know my pain I guess? Seriously though, it's been amazing to bear witness to your rise as a player / community member from the start of XY a little over a year ago. I only hope it lasts longer. Oh, and you need to show me more Shulk / Fox smash 4 vids lol
DittoCrow / Texas Cloverleaf / Nails: Lumping you three into one because this kind of applies to all of you. Thanks for being great, friendly top players a new guy like me could lean on when I first started. Wouldn't have been as easy of a transition without you guys. I only wish you guys were around more, but I understand we all have to move on sooner or later... I guess lol
Spirit: I don't think we'll ever fully see eye-to-eye on everything, but you're never afraid to say what you think and be yourself. And that's something I can always respect and understand, no matter the differences.

Lyto barton xastify migzoo Mistress Remilia HypnoEmpire MrAldo Kableye Schaff Montsegur Scene The Leprechaun aoemica thecrystalonix lighthouses and anyone else I may be forgetting: it's always fun hanging with you guys in the RU Room for hours on end just chatting about whatever.

49 galbia Omfuga and Meru: Most of the time we're civil to each other on the council... most of the time. It always ends in good humor one way or another though lol. And for 49 and galbia, thanks for the hard work you guys put in on the QC team as well.
Kotori: Your name change irks me. But you've been a big part of RU as a whole, so I have to give you props there. Just, wtf namechange tho lol
tennisace: You were the one that got me into Twitter. Now I'm a #twitterhead... but maybe that was your plan all along and it worked LOL
Oglemi: The lord and dictator himself. I feel like you have too much time on your hands sometimes. Seriously though, you know just about everything when I ask it, so I can always count on you if I'm stuck with something
Sam: i can't fucking believe you're uu tier leader and smod now. Like, seriously, I remember way back in UUPL 2014 when I was helping you with teams. I like to think I had something to do with your quick rise, but something tells me you had the drive and motivation all along.
Soulgazer: I still remember you were my first real tuttee in Battling 101. Now you're all the way on to the tournament scene. I can't say that's my cup of tea at all, but just keep that drive and passion alive and you'll succeed. Just like you did with NU.
Omicron: It would just be flat wrong if I forgot you. I mean, come on, you're the main reason I'm here now. When I first met you, I was just some guy who knew the basics of competitive battling and teambuilding, but with no real knowledge of RU. Thanks to you, I gained the confidence, drive, and motivation I needed to become better. Now I'm an RU mod, QC member, tutor, and Council member. And it's all because of the confidence you gave to me when you were tutoring me way back in August 2012 (yeah, almost 3 years now) I wish you were around more, but I know that you have your own goals and priorities. If it's selfish of you to want to go after those, then it's selfish of me to want to see you around here more. We at least talk every once in a while, which is good enough for me considering the situation. Thanks for everything.

Conclusion

That's it. Hopefully all of you guys lived through the Xenoblade puns as best as you could. I'll probably continue to use this team off and on unless something drastic happens that takes away its effectiveness, but it's been a blast to use for the past month or so. Feel free to comment if you guys feel the team could be better. I'm never really afraid of constructive criticism. After all, it can only make you better. As for what happens in the future, I can't really tell that. But I do know the future is our's to decide!

Hi there eonx, this is a really cool team that covers most threats nicely. There are a few weaknesses like pursuit houndoom + cobalion / virizion due to your reliance on delphox to deal with those two but these sorts of weaknesses are very difficult to deal with and would probably compromise your ability to deal with other pkmn. One change you could make is running aromatisse over togetic. You have defog on flygon, so aromatisse is imo a better option as it isn't as easy to wear down as togetic is with lefties and a sr neutrality. This makes it a better check to scrafty and other fighters. You lose out on twave, but aromatisse gives wish support to the likes of bronzong so dealing with meloetta is easier. Aroma veil is also nice for jellicent, which seems annoying to switch into as it stands because you don't have lum on viriz.

Once again nice team n_n
