The use of Worry Seed

This can be usefull against a few different abillities, like making Levitators vulnerable to EQ or cutting down Rhyperior's defenses drasticly. It certainly stops Resters too. Of course a lot of this seems like it would be best put to use ina 2v2 team where a partner could make use of an opponent who just lost their edge.

What I'm interested in doing, however, is using it to drop Slaking's Truant. I've heard that Worry Seed will not work on Truant however, has there been any testing on this? If it indeed can not remove Truant from Slaking is there enough use for it to take up a moveslot in either a 1v1 or 2v2 poke's moveset?

Why would you have it in a 1v1 team if you're using it on yourself?

Also good for forcing switches. The problem I see is who can use it. All I see is venusaur, exeggutor, and possibly jumpluff. All the others seem to have better things to do, but that's not saying that those three don't either.

If if doesn't remove truant, then you probably shouldn't use it, as the seeder could probably die before doing anything else. If if does, then can somebody test to see if it works on slow start?

If it's used, it's definitely going to screw over Restalkers like Magnezone / Cresselia / Regice / Snorlax. I think it can work on Traunt, but I'm not sure the research thread has it. Let me go check

Worry Seed: Worry Seed, on the other hand, DOES replace the trait of the target with Insomnia.

So it will replace any trait, even Traunt. Dandy for things like Regigigas and Slaking

Actually only Slaking because if you remove slow start then Regigigas would never get the other half of his attack and speed points back. This would be a decent counter for Regigigas if he needed anymore.

I have confirmed that Worry Seed does not work on a Pokémon with Truant. Also, I believe the research thread posters have determined that Skill Swapping Slow Start in the North American version of D/P does give Regigigas back its stats.

Considering Team Rocket Elite has Skill Swapped Slow Start off a Regigigas, I'd say it is.

Wait, I'm confused. It does work or it doesn't? I thought I remembered that it now gives Regigigas its stats back in North American D/P, but I certainly haven't tried it myself.

I think you're confused because Lord Gloom had a post right above mine stating that Slow Start could NOT be Skill Swapped, which he deleted when I made a post pointing out that TRE successfully did so.

Ah, OK. Thanks for clearing it up.

EDIT: By the way, if you're looking for a 2v2 combo with Worry Seed, I imagine it's as simple as having one Pokémon use Rest and having the other one use Worry Seed on it. When it wakes up will have to be tested, though.

Hmm. So do a 2v2 Battle with a WorrySeeder and Slaking w/ Rest...Slaking uses Rest, WorrySeeder uses Worry Seed on Slaking. If Slaking wakes up, Worry Seed gets rid of Truant, if Slaking stays asleep, he sucks like always. Is it really that simple to test? I'm surprised we don't have a definitive answer to this question yet...

Also, when Worry Seed is used on a pokemon, is it's ability changed to Insomnia for the ENTIRE battle?

OK, backing up a moment. First of all, this combo should work on any Pokémon but Slaking. It doesn't matter whether or not Slaking is asleep. If it has Truant as its Ability, Worry Seed won't work on it.

As far as I know, Worry Seed remains active until the affected Pokémon switches out, but I'm not 100% sure about that one.

So it also doesn't work on regigigas? I'm still confuzzulated.

I honestly don't know whether Worry Seed works on a Pokémon with Slow Start. Legendaries aren't my thing, so I'll leave that testing to someone else. (I don't even have a Regigigas yet and am not about to go catch it.)

Proof? It can be Skill Swapped.

I have personally tested it. If you want proof, test it yourself. I don't have the equipment to post a video.

EDIT: This isn't news, but while I was testing Worry Seed on Truant, I tested Skill Swap on Truant to make sure it still works in D/P. It does.

Whether it actually replaces Regigigas' trait is irrelevant, if I remember correctly. Slow Start activates when Regifail is sent out (like Intimidate). Skill Swapping/Worry Seeding won't have an impact on him.

Right, but it has been confirmed on the research thread that Skill Swapping Slow Start away from Regigigas has different effects depending on the game being used.

Japanese D/P: Regigigas doesn't get its high stats back.
North American D/P: Regigigas gets its high stats back.
Japanese PBR: Regigigas gets its high stats back.
North American PBR: ???

Ouch, I've been hosed (Japanese Pearl for non-R4 cart). I'll probably have to buy the 3rd game of the generation (assuming that there is one) when I get back to America.
