THE URSATRAIN

:corviknight::iron crown::ursaluna-bloodmoon::volcarona::chien-pao::dragonite:

Those of you who play OMs might remember my post about Ursaluna-Bloodmoon in the AAA thread being my 400th. 5 months and 200 posts later, here we are again, this time with its own thread and team! (also first rmt :3)

The Team

The goal I had in mind when creating the team was to create a hyper offense team to use against my OMPL opponent. Every hyper offense team in AAA has to have a screen setter, so I started with the good ol':

:sv/corviknight:
Corviknight @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Taunt
- U-turn

The most common hyper offense lead in the tier. It sets screens pretty reliably. Taunt stops other Corviknight from defogging screens away and hazards from being set, and U-turn provides a slow pivot. 'Nuff said.

:sv/iron crown:
Iron Crown @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Stored Power
- Tachyon Cutter
- Calm Mind
- Agility

I decided to add Iron Crown next since I hadn't gotten a chance to use it before and it seemed like a cool mon that could put in work against the types of teams my opponent had brought so far. This thing is insane; it can easily sweep entire teams that don't know how to play around it or underestimate its damage potential. All it has to do to one shot RegenVest Swampert from full is set up a Calm Mind and Agility and activate Weakness Policy; something that is surprisingly easy to accomplish under screens. From there it can just win games, outspeeding even fast speed control options like Choice Scarf Roaring Moon and resisting Aerilate Dragonite's Extreme Speed. A bit less effective if the opponent knows what's coming but it can still easily get at least one kill.

:sv/ursaluna-bloodmoon:
Ursaluna-Bloodmoon (M) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Steam Engine
EVs: 248 HP / 116 Def / 132 SpA / 12 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blood Moon
- Earth Power
- Calm Mind
- Moonlight

And then it came to me. I would actually be able to put Steam Engine Ursaluna-BM. I had made a team with Storm Drain Ursaluna-BM before and used it in the Seasonal, but I had never actually used Steam Engine on it before, which was something I really wanted to try. It fit on the team as another setup sweeper that also had some defensive utility and recovery. The idea is to bait a Water-move from common RegenVesters like Manaphy, Swampert, and Primarina, (although Fire-moves work too, just not as well) and activate Weakness Policy and Steam Engine at the same time, potentially just ending the game right there. The mon's great bulk means it can trigger them off of a lot of attacks, and it has just enough Speed for minimal required investment. Seriously, this mon can live a Choice Band SoR Close Combat from Zamazenta under Reflect, it's just that bulky. It also checks Dragonite, which is pretty handy for the team.

:sv/volcarona:
Volcarona @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Flamethrower
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic

Volcarona is one of the scariest mons on HO, and for good reason. Either you have a mon that can beat it (Dragonite or WBB Corviknight) or you don't and you just get 6-0'd if it gets a single setup opportunity. Even mons that beat it on paper like WBB Gholdengo and PrimSea Zapdos fail to switch into it and win. I went back and forth between Magic Guard and Sheer Force a bit but decided on Magic Guard after discussing it with other people. It meant that it wouldn't get some of the insane calcs Sheer Force can, but at least it would be able to actually setup (it kept taking Stealth Rock chip and not being able to setup because of that in tests lmao.)

:sv/chien-pao:
Chien-Pao @ Life Orb
Ability: Sword of Ruin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Throat Chop
- Ice Shard
- Swords Dance

Next I needed a naturally fast mon that could also threaten Zapdos since it could give my team some issues prior to them setting up, and Chien-Pao was the mon for the job. It also serves as a physical attacker, which I don't have yet. I opted for Swords Dance on this team since a lot of this mon's counterplay revolves around chipping it down and making predictions on what move it's going to use since it usually uses a Choice Band, but I didn't have to worry about Stealth Rock chip too much since the team is HO. Throat Chop is a cool tech to beat Scream Tail and also Crunch defense drops never happen when you need them.

:sv/dragonite:
Dragonite @ Life Orb
Ability: Aerilate
EVs: 184 HP / 252 Atk / 72 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

For the last slot I wanted another priority user and physical mon, so naturally I chose Dragonite (broken mon btw). This mons puts a ton of pressure both in the builder and in the actual game, and can easily clean games. Extreme Speed just threatens a ton of offensive guys, especially at +1. I opted for the unusual Stone Edge here over something more common like Flamethrower or Thunderbolt since it was the best option to hit Zapdos that still hits Corviknight for decent damage.

I didn't get to use the team against my opponent since I won the Bo3 before playing AAA, but here are some other replays of me and other people using it:
