I have started playing Pokemon since the third generation. As such, I have not heard Gold and Silver's music until I saw a walkthrough on Youtube. But I will agree that Gold and Silver had some of the best music in the series.

And now, HeartGold SoulSilver fans are listening to the awesome soundtrack that the remakes have.

What do YOU think is the best music addition in the game?

Please note that Ho-oh and Lugia's theme fall under "new additions", because they were not remixed pieces from Gold/Silver. All other legendary music falls under "other".

Lighthouse/Mount Silver is probably my favorite track in the game. They captured the most solitary, intimidating theme in the game and perfected it making it ten times more freaky and wild with an awesome remix.

New Bark Town is increadable. I personally wasn't a big fan of the old theme, but they made the remix feel so sweet and tranquil. I nearly fainted when I first heard it in the trailer back in May.

Violet City's theme is also a huge step up. It felt like a mildly encouargeing tune in the original game, but it sounds a million time better with all the added sounds

Ecruteak's theme is awesome now. It went in a single leap from this weird town with depressing music to this humongous Ancient Japan town with awesome music. There are too many individual melodies in that song to count.

Pallet Town's music got slightly better. It already captured the "coming home" feeling with the original tune, but the slow bits just make it sound fantastic.

Lugia and Ho-oh both have awesome battle music. Ho-ohs makes it really feel like your fighting something ancient while Lugia's music makes it seem like you're fighting some mighty Leviathan.

And to top that all off, they somehow made the National park theme sound more beautiful

Oh, and I don't think I have to say ANYTHING about the rival battle theme.

Oof, HGSS has too much good music to name in one sitting.

Favorite is easily Lance's/Red's. So epic, so classic, and not revamped a whole lot unlike the FRLG Champion theme.

Lugia and Ho-oh are amazing. In fact, I AR coded my game to play the Lugia battle song when I encounter a wild mon - it's what a wild Pokemon music should be (and it fits VERY well with the blinds in the battle entrance). I've also changed the trainer battle's music to Ho-oh's theme. THAT's how good they are.

Personally, when the first piece of Heartgold and Soulsilver music came out in a trailer vid in Japan, I was excited. Very excited. For myself, Pokemon game music was one of the best elements that make up a game (wow. I'm a freakin' nerd). And, when I heard the first parts of Ho-oh's and Lugia's themes, they were awesome. VERY awesome.
I liked the music when the game came out because it was a change from the regular DP music. The DP music...lacks something. I dunno. Maybe it's the fact that it gives me a headache everytime I listen to it again and again.
So I voted for the Kanto Leader theme. It's fast paced, and it's nognalstic. Simple, right? :) Thanks for posting this thread.
